Yep, this is absolutely terrible on some cars. The top of the wheel in the California T is right in the middle of your vision looking to the next corner, especially if the straight is relatively short.
Eh… I also noticed the cockpit camera height is off in a few cars last night… seems a bit too high in some cars ? Especially in cars with roll cages installed.
I agree 100% , it would be awesome to be able to adjust the height of the camera in cockpit view. The cockpit view is a very cool feature, but would be perfect being able to adjust player’s view height.
Totally agree. When driving the Hellcat I was forced to use the hood camera. Some other cars I drive have similar issues when cockpit camera is near to useless due to restricted field of view.
I hope that all cockpit views is fixed. They are horrible! It has many with very large steering wheel.
An example and Lamborghini Huracan, very big steering wheel.
The sight should be farthest
I know Forza 3 had an FOV adjustment (you had to put it in multi-screen mode to access it, I think, and you lost your ability to swing the camera in the cockpit as a result). It would be nice if they could give us an FOV option. Most of the cars I have driven have been OK so far, but I know there are cars like the Pagani Zonda Cinque where cool dash items like the digital RPM warning meter can’t be seen because the angle of the steering wheel cuts them off. It was the same in Forza 5, but it hasn’t been fixed, unfortunately.
On a side note, one issue I am having with certain cars is the headlamps. I was doing night races with a Lotus Esprit last night, and you can barely see a bloody thing! It’s like the headlights are aimed to just about 3 feet in front of the car. I’m hoping to go through the rest of the cars to see which ones have similar issues. I do hope this is something they can patch. The Lotus Esprit is one of my favourite all-time cars, but to drive it at night on Spa or the Nurburgring or even Sebring without the racing line on is tantamount to suicide. Bonnet cam was only marginally better as well.
We should probably compile a list of which cars have trouble with the in-car view. As mentioned, the Pagani Zonda Cinque is definitely one of them.
The FOV isn’t the problem, it’s the height of the cockpit camera. The Hellcat camera is too low because the steering wheel obstructs the windshield. Do the rival challenge for the Hellcat in cockpit view, there is a crest and chicane pretty early that is virtually impossible to navigate because the steering wheel makes it so you can’t see where you’re going. Obviously the Challenger doesn’t have great visibility in the first place but certain angles of view give more important information than others even if they don’t necessarily give “more” visibility, and it’s obvious that having the camera just high enough to clear the steering wheel would be better than having it at the height it’s at now.
aside: perhaps ironically, even after complaining about the cockpit view in the Hellcat, I decided to put a blower hood on my XB Falcon because it looks cool… difference is I can choose not to have it, whereas I’m forced into an awful camera angle in the Hellcat.
There’s even the case of some cars where the camera is not correctly centered in relation to the wheel. From the top of my head, I can say Lambo Reventón and Ferrari 458 Speciale. On both, the camera is a little to the left. It looks quite strange.
I’ve heard the complaints about the Hellcat, but I haven’t found it as bad as some people have been saying; however, I’ll try the rivals challenge you’re talking about.
I love the challenger Hellcat, its a fun car to drive but I race in first person (cockpit view) and the cockpit view in the hellcat is terrible. I feel like im a little 90 year old lady who is sitting on top of a overturned milk crate when i drive the car. You can barely see over the dashboard to view what turn is coming next and where the yellow and red brake paths start. I feel like im guessing half the time when to brake into a turn. Do you think you guys could raise the camera view in the hellcat for 1st person in your next update? Thanks.
This needs fixing, surely…still no news on a day 1 patch either for the vehicle stats on forza vista (cut off screen) and GT350R having wrong sound, wonder when it will come.
Haha yes I have notice the offset on some cars, it’s annoying but I can sort of live with that, m bigger issue is the fact we are too low or too high.
I found the worst car, the Peugeot 908… you’re glued to the steering wheel + you’re to low… I was forced to play the challenge with the hood cam.
F1 2015 from codemaster recently updated their game and added a cockpit cam personalized adjustment ! It’s definitely possible for Turn 10 to do the same, but we all know they will never do it…
Many cars are with big steering wheel, example ;Lamborghini Huracan, # 11 Handy Motorsport Avensis. I’m sitting leaning against the steering wheel.
And it really horrible.
Tried it (the Hellcat) last night on a tracks with blind crests, e.g., Laguna Seca, Road Atlanta, and Le Mans. It’s annoying, but not the absolute worst I’ve seen. Stuff like that reminds me the V8 Vantage in PGR3 and the TVR Sagaris when they modified it in PGR4 (as I remember, I wasn’t too pleased with it in Forza 4 or 5 either - they kinda wrecked it). Bentley GT3 is definitely odd, but at least you can see out - it’s just like driving in a pill box, that’s all. : / Sigh… disappointing.
Agreed, but Turn 10 doesn’t support the game the way Mad does Project Cars.
Hell even Polyphonys support for GT has been amazing after it hit the disc.
Turn 10 doesn’t add features after the games are finished, there won’t be any updated camera adjustments, guaranteed.
But I completely agree, some of these views both in the cockpit and out are very poor.
