Censored Soundtrack AGAIN! (Epitaph Records - FH5 Rally Adventure)

Forza Horizon 4 launched with an uncensored soundtrack, but after 6 months Playground Games decided to censor it, removing references to things like Suicide, God, Guns, and other things that some people may be sensitive to.

When Forza Horizon 5 was released, it had multiple songs that required censoring. Why were appropriate songs not chosen that didn’t require censorship? Fast forward a year and a half, and Rally Adventure released alongside a new radio station, Epitaph Records… But almost every song is spoilt by censorship! Again, why was a more appropriate soundtrack not chosen that didn’t require censoring?

The irony is that their attempts at censorship are pathetic - One song has the word “Death” censored, and the same song has the word “Bed” censored! Another song also has censorship, but the word “God” remains. It’s not even consistent!

Of course it’s not consistent, this is PGG after all!

PGG, if you think you need to censor the word “bed”, it may be time to add a “station” that uses our local songs on disk with a song-neutral DJ overlay to make it feel like a radio station.

You do realize all these censorships happened because of various reasons:

  1. The game’s rated E (or PEGI 3) which means children play. Ironic, considering FH1 was rated T and FH2 was rated E10+ (with mild lyrics)

  2. This game’s pretty much catered to a wide audience

  3. Political correctness seems to have been considerably worse as of late and the songs were altered.

  4. All these violent natures in the songs mentioned convey a horrid tone for children and this is precisely why these songs were censored. But in reality, they shouldn’t be subjected to harsher songs.

It’s also worth mentioning that some songs or artists’ names were shortened as they’re not family-friendly. This is FH5’s larger issue with wider audiences.

Sadly, even Whitelight agrees with that statement on why the music in FH5 is horribly ruined. Though it was only a small part of his ‘not a 10/10’ video, it’s significant.

When I read things like this, I’m starting to respect Ubisoft who just releases pretty much all major titles with PEGI 18+ / ESRB M category and doesn’t care about such things (even The Crew 2 is 12+).

On the other hand, I’m glad we have a punk radio station at all in these circumstances

Hearing any of FH4’s awful awful loading screen songs is more likely to make me violent than any swear word, slur or innuendo.

There is so much music. And in the DLC case, they were censored already when they released ingame. So why did they then not pick other songs, that do not need to be censored to suit everyone.

One of the older Horizon had a collab with something (spotify?) and it then appeared in your radiolist and showed song artist and name like the other stations

turn off the volume to the radio (it still works for skill songs) and listen to whatever you want on another device

That was Groove Music. That was a Microsoft-created music service that failed so hard, Microsoft opted to buy out Spotify instead.

:rotating_light: “You are fined 2 Jimco credits for abuse of the verbal morality statue.” :warning:

I honestly wouldn’t be surprised if this game banned and sternly warned itself.

Just waiting for that tipping point. :watch:

You make a big conspiracy out of it, when it’s just them ennacting house rules, and if the house says “no swearing”, they can very well act on it.

You mean the same Jeremy Clarkson that lashed out against Megan M. to the point where he commited career suicide at the end of last year?

I just don’t understand adding new songs only to realise you have to censor them or get a machine to. However it’s done or decided.

Career suicide? I think you may not be up to date with this. He did go a bit mad at it but there’s a lot of brits that are just tired of Megan and Harry’s crap and dont find his comment even though as harsh as it is being too far fetched from reality.

I am very much up to date with this he was both:

Fired from Amazon and
Fired from Celador (Who Wants To Be A Millionaire producers)

after his controversy about Meghan Markle. And he works in Television, when even ITV don’t want you on their screens anymore, it is television career suicide.

(The only Jobs he has now are Farmer, Lobbyist and Columnist for The Sun (i.e. literal Toilet Paper))

No he isnt fired from amazon. He was allegedly going to be but he isnt. He’s still set to produce his farming show and a few more grand tour specials which will take a few years untill he stops working for them.

Either include the proper songs uncensored, or if they want to care for the overly tender sensitive souls of 2023, let someone make custom music. EA did this a lot and made for some memorable soundtracks!

Houston, we’ve a Norf Norf situation.

To all those blaming Playground, this isn’t their call. It’s to remain age ratings compliant and an E/3 rating is non-negotiable from Microsoft’s side.

Playground could have licensed different songs, but that’s a separate discussion topic.
