From my experience cars are mostly achieving faster times in Motorsport than irl.
Simply because it’s a lot easier and less risky to push them to their limit.
Also it’s a question of how accurately T10 programmed them within the physics/vehicle data.
Some cars way faster than the irl counterpart (Integra for example) and others are terrible in comparison (was really surprised to match the AMG One time because it’s trash in Motorsport and Horizon).
Ultimatively it’s best to forget rl performance figures and accept Forza as a game with its own ruleset.

I agree - most of the cars in FM 2023 are much faster than its real-life counterparts, but it’s ony because of grip levels. They generate much higher lateral G than IRL. Pattern here is (of course with few exceptions, as always) the older car is, the higher the gap between game and real life. Starting with extreme discrepancies (1969 Dodge Charger - 0.86G - or even more, I can’t recall for sure - lateral G in game, where IRL it barely achieves 0.70G) to more smaller (with 90’s and 2000’s sports cars it’s about 0.04 - 0.10G difference). But this problem we can (and could also in FM7) easily solve - by setting Grip Handicap to lower values (Charger with grip handicap set to 0.75 both rear and front does about 0.68 lateral G in-game - spot on). Problem in FM 2023 specifically with Nordschleife is that most modern sport cars (post 2010) even with Grip handicap set to 1.00 (unchanged) can’t achieve RL lateral G levels/are slower than RL counterparts. Examples: C7 Corvette Z06, AMG GTR, 911 GT2 RS - cover car of FM7, and most recently newest BMW M2 (try to finish Nordschleife lap in 7:38 with stock one, as the official record, I dare you
)
To match IRL times at Nurb we have to fit Racing Tires, and even with that it’s not always enough (GT2 RS). You may say at the moment - that’s only a game, there’s no point of comparing Video Game to RL - but my answer to this is - GT6 had this covered 10 years ago (and there were over 1000 cars in-game). When setting correct tires (Comfort Hard/Medium/Soft in 95% of cars in game) lap times were within a second of RL at Laguna Seca and within 3 seconds at Nordschleife to real-life record laps. Grip levels were also within 0.02G per car. So it’s not like it can’t be done. GT7 (at least with modern cars) is also spot on with lap times.
