I’ve outlined an idea originally in: Upgrade Progression
Where to combat the potential frustration from scenarios that the car levels and upgrade restrictions might impose, it would be possible to have earnable tokens that can be applied to a car that acts as an upgrade voucher, unlocking its lvl50 status along with decent enough upgrade points for that car to be tuned with little to no limitations like you’re able to do barring a lack of funds in current Forza games.
I want to move that idea here and also expand on it as there could be great opportunities with this to flesh out gameplay in other areas. One being that these tokens could be very rare and only gotten through finishing championships or sets of them. Another idea would be to implement a system to bet a token in multiplayer races into a pot or against someone else on the grid, sort of like a pink slip analogous. Where the winner takes both, or the whole grids pot. Could walk away with a cool 8 upgrade tokens that are worth a lot more than cash in this new system.
One thing I realize with this is the framing of ‘tokens’ being a pretty distasteful term as we’ve all been well enough exposed to the sort of predatory systems in modern games that use such terms within their monetization schemes. It could be called anything. I personally think they can come up with something better than ‘voucher’. But that suffices just as well.
I think this could really add to the game if the system we’re getting works as many of us think it does.
It alleviates the pressure to grind and focus on meta build for those who play online. And it adds something with genuine value to players to be able to earn beyond cars and cash. And with the random reward nonsense behind us (hopefully). It wont feel cheap when you actually do get one of these in a gift message, or for a challenging race series.
