Hi All, I’m looking for suggestions for reasonably competitive cars that I can level up and tune for use in open lobbys, from D class through to A class, my plan is to build and tune the cars myself ideally none of the usual suspects, or as my brain after thousands of hours im FM2 still see them “leader board cars” essentially any cars you may not often see on the grid but possibly are still capable of giving those bloody OP cars “I’m looking at you Mr matia” a scare once in a while. Even if there not realistically going to get podiums and wins, “sometimes the journeys as fun as the destination” I know I can trawl the rivals leaderboards, however I’m more interested in the cars and thoughts of guys who’ve built and tuned the cars themselves, and not just downloaded a tune. No issues at all with downloaded tunes just for me it never feels like its “my car” when ive tried them myself, so to recap cars that are a pleasure or fun to drive that can run from the back of the grid and possibly with a steady hand earn a top 10 or even top 6 once in a while. Thanks for reading all this and thanks for any suggestions.
My suggestion is to go in rivals and take a look on the leaderboard, you’ll see anything you are looking for
Somethin you can find on the leaderboard
Hmmm yes ok fantastic suggestion
The issue here is that any car that you don’t see in the top 100 times of a Leaderboard is not going to be competitive. There may be some “miracles”, like from my experience the Alfa Giulia QV in A class, but I’d really have to look into it in order to give you better recommendations.
I don’t get why this answer, If you don’t want to take the top 5 cars on the leaderboard, chose some car with good times near those, anyone there put time and effort into their cars…
2003 nissan fairlady z
Thank you a civilzed reply, outside the top 100 is fine with me, i realize there not going to be overly competetive just Anything that isnt op that i can spend time tuning to eek out the most performance from that i can at least hold my own mid field with
I replied that way, as I did state in my post “i know i can trawl the leaderboards” and i also stated “however I’m interested in the thoughts of guys who have built such cars” and also im aware there not going to get podiums or wins…ps i dont like lazy baiting posts which is how your reply came across.
I bet 2003 nissan fairlady z is somewhere on the leaderboard too but i won’t ruin your day
Unfortunately D class is basically only leaderboard cars (Miata, Cosmo, Integra, '97 Civic, Porsche 550). I use no aero Porsche 356 & Alfa Giulia GTA but they are at least 1 second/lap off. The requirement of race transmission with that awful whine is also a pretty big letdown for D class. I preferred the old way where I had to find good setups with stock/street gearbox & engine combinations.
Didn’t bother much with C class yet.
For B class I use a no aero C32 AMG on sport tires for more speed oriented tracks because the car has really low drag. For more grip heavy tracks I use the Alpine GTA on race tires which is pretty good.
A class I have numerous cars but most are with glitched engines before patch 2.0. So, they can not be recreated. Of regular builds I use a no aero Diablo on stock tires for power tracks (does 4:11 on Le Mans La Sarthe) and lately a no aero '98 AM Vantage on sport tires with the Viper V10 swap. Given the right tracks it gives some meta cars a good run.
The 3rd regular build has to be the AMG E63 S as no aero RWD, CSC I6 swap on race tires. A lot faster than it sounds.
Thanks for the suggestion i can give it a go i actually owned one in the 90’s along with a mitsubishi gto which im still tuning for a class its ok if it on the LB however as stated im looking for non op less used cars, my day certainly wont be ruined
Thanks Rayne lots of food for thought there.
, i’m gonna lvling up one when i have the time, it take my interest
How about NC MX-5? Yea I know, it’s a Miata, but I don’t consider it as a typical leaderboard car and almost everyone seems to prefer '90 or '94 NA Miata over 2013 model so it’s pretty rarely seen on track. It might not be NA quick but still a balanced and fun car to drive nevertheless.
I’ll give it a run in single player at some point, its just me really and my experiences with the mentality of some of the guys running these things, and i do realize i’m probably being a little irrational, but the mx5 in all it variations has been soured and just isnt for me, thanks for putting up a suggestion though.
Understood.
I like MX-5s a lot but still try to avoid NA cars due to those being “the obvious choice”. Of course there’s 2016 ND too but I think 2013 is more rare in multiplayer and I also like hardtop cars so NC it is for me.
Do you have any preference between FWD / RWD (/ AWD)?
The Nissan 240SX and '71 Skyline GT-R are both competitive through all those classes. Lots of upgrade options too.
A Miata
B Miata
C Miata
D Miata
PS. Don’t be that guy
Cheers guys some decent suggestions which is going to keep me busy for the Next few weeks leveling and tuning. For info on drive train preferences RWD FWD AWD
