C Class Drag Comp, check tuners thread for info!

Maxwell’s Speed Shop’s proudly presents the 1st, possibly months Drag Tuning Competition. I am hoping this will draw some interest and get more people into the drag racing scene. I plan on something a little different for each comp. I am going to steer away from the standard S Class 5.9 engine drag cars and throw out restrictions that level the field and a ya think a bit more on your builds. I plan to treat this much like the last few tuning comps that I have been involved with, having each entrant submit a tune and a few drivers run them, get the best times and post them. Should be alot of fun and something out of the norm.

For this first comp, we are going for a C Class Drag tune. The restrictions/rules are as follows:

-C Class
-3200lbs MINIMUM
-RWD only
-255 rear tire size, no bigger, no smaller. If 255s aren’t availible to a car, that car is out. Sorry '40 Ford, lol!
-Street tire compound ONLY
-Sport trans ONLY, the one where final gear is all you can change. Race diff, clutch and driveline is your choice
-Stock suspension and ARB’S ONLY. Brakes, cage and weight are your choice, spend PI wisely
-Engine swaps are allowed, NO 5.9 RACING!! Normal aspirated only, no turbos, superchargers or blowers
-Finish build to C500 max, spend PI where you think it will help most, just stay in line with restrictions

I’m working with a few friends to line up some drivers for testing. I plan on maybe 2 or 3 drivers, we each run 5, 3 heat races and get the best ET. 15 runs down the strip for each tune. For now, we will use the Airstrip Test Track 1/4 drag track. I will change that up from comp to comp also.

We will see how well this goes and how much interest it draws. I’d like to make this a monthly comp, different sets of rules each time. Oddball cars and different restrictions each time. I am really hoping to get more people into drag racing and show its more than throwing the 5.9 in a car and flooring it to the finish line.

As you build and tune your cars, keep in mind to test your car you need to go to a private online lobby and choose drag. You can get a good idea on your time with a few runs on the Airstrip Test Track open space. Just watch the timer as you run.

Hopefully there’s some interest in this and this will be the first of many. To start with, I’m thinking 10-15 entries to start with. Probably have this coming Sunday be the entry deadline. Let have some fun!!

QUICK NOTE, as far as drivers, i think I will have 3 maybe 4 if there’s anybody wanting to run them. I will have them be alternates in the comp and leave non drivers be in the main comp. By alternates, I’m meaning they don’t really count regardless of how many people join up. I plan on driving in this first one. If anyone else would like to, just let me know!

Crashing for the night shortly. I will update the entries as they appear in the am.

As for drivers, just to clarify, I am gonna drive and I am hoping for 2 or 3 other guys to drive as well. That way it’s not just ONE guy, one time. As far as drivers and tunes, I was thinking that drivers can go ahead and submit a tune, it just won’t count towards the comp. Even if a driver has a miracle 7 sec C Class tune, lol, won’t count for squat!! Just our own little drivers bracket. If this catches on and there ends up being some good interest in this we can rotate the drivers with each comp. Being the 1st of hopefully many, we’ll work all this out as we go.

Ok, so this may be a really quick comp!! Lol

I will tune up a car. I’m in.

So does it have to be a “car”

Whatever you’d like as long as it fits the restrictions. Bronco it up, lol!!

I will be trying to move this thread to the Tuners area, didnt mean to put it hear in the racers thread.

.
Count me in! Though, for this Sunday, could be a little tight since I got some items to take car of.

I posted on the other thread about throwing out some more time with this comp. I have some real world “can’t use the words” going on that is going to keep me from very much forza the next few day. Figure maybe a week from Sunday being the entry deadline? Does that work for everybody?

Just want to make sure…this reads that I cannot upgrade the ARBs…correct!

Not sure what happened, lol. Thought I hit post, musta been cancel. Long day, lol. Yes sir, no ARB’S for this one.

Quick couple questions, any idea on how to go about merging these 2 threads onto the Tuners garage to save from having to post on one or the other hoping not to miss something? Trust me lesson learned! Any other comps will be in the right spot, promise!!

The other, having just gotten on for a few minutes while not sleeping, I checked my “C Class” drag tunes/shared cars and saw that with those I had kept stock tires, giving a little bit of extra PI to play with. Seeing how this is the first of these, we still have 8 days to workout our builds and I really am wanting it to as enjoyable as possible, would it be beneficial to drop it down to stock tires?

Case in point, I wanted to see about the Boss 302 build I had and everything is the same as we have currently EXCEPT for stock vs street tires.

Whatever you guys wanna do is cool with me.
