Hopefully the 1st “Speed Shop Drag Comp” was a good time or at least a worth while change of pace. This next comp should be a bit more exciting and hopefully we end up with a few more people joining in. For now I am shooting for 10, if that happens quick then we’ll jump it up to 15. Stopping at 20 for sure, lol. Dont want to get too crazy!
For this competition, A Class at Sonoma Raceway!!!
2000 lbs MINIMUM
RWD ONLY!!!
NO 5.9, V10 or V12 SWAPS!!!
ANY SIZE DRAG TIRES
ANY ASPIRATION
STAY IN A CLASS
NO 4 ROTOR ENGINE SWAPS
NO VW BUS
So far I have found that the engine restrictions will weed out the freaks like a 1200hp '40 Ford and being A class keeps this level for the most part. The track will level the field as well.
I thought the way things worked with getting times in the 1st comp worked alright. If there is anyone that would like to run these tunes and post the times, let me know. I plan to run a few 10 heat sessions with each car and post up the best ET for each tune.
All I ask is if you do run these, 1st, please run at least one 10 heat race with them, that’ll give enough time to figure out launch and shifting and still get a good time and 2nd, PLEASE be honest and accurate with the times.
That being said, I will need entrant’s car and the tune by June 6th
.
Just ran a quick check run at Sonoma to figure out the takeoff differences versus the Test Track, had a 10.111 not fully tweaked build/tune. I can tell it will be different. What do you guys expect the range of ET to be around?
I ran all my A Class Drag cars looking for anything that should be outlawed, those were my higher end times so yeah, that sounds about right. 9.5 is VERY fast! I had good luck with lower RPM launches. It’s still luck when I hit it right but I would drop .2 or more when I was able to leave with very little wheel spin compared to the launch at the previous track. I thought changing up tracks will keep it interesting and they’re in the game. I think its a fun track, too.
Thank you guys for joining up, should be a good time! Good luck and have fun!
