I wouldnt compare grinding in Diablo or Destiny to Forza. Better gear and progression in those games is effectively rationed by time played in the game - you arent going let people have access to best gear from day one. The point of Diablo IS the equipment, if you want a +20 sword of butt stomping of course you’ll grind for it.
But in Forza all cars and tracks are equal, you aren’t grinding for a better car to race on a harder track you are just grinding for a different car. If the more expensive car was better and I needed it to win the next championship then I might grind a bit but Forza isn’t set up to play that way. The prices are arbitrary and only keep people from using them which should be the opposite of what a game is about.
The cars are not an end unto themselves, no one goes ‘I have all the Lambos now I’m done’. Once you have the car, now you can race, drift, tune, paint, photomode etc. They’re a means to an end. Sticking a 20 million $ price tag on a car and drive in circles for a month to get it is counterproductive. You’re making people grind for the sake of grinding, nothing is accompished by withholding cars that way. Getting an Axe of Head Cleaving lets you get to Diablo and kill him, their’s a point to grinding for better gear, getting a GTO doesn’t let you do anything you couldn’t do before gameplay wise. There’s no reason to restrict use of it thru arbitrary prices and grinding.
However the game should be set up, it isn’t working very well in FM6. You have an infinite amount of credits chasing a finite number or cars. Credits become worthless long before level 1000 and if your main motivation in playing is earning credits, then sitting on 300 million is ironically a bad thing. This is bad game design. If credits become worthless then get rid of them or make them useful ( again ).
Wish there was an auction house on FM5 and 6… While in FM5, I’m still barely over level 100, with less than 3 million credits, it’d still be nice. In FM6, I am over level 500 now, and had every car in the game bought (plus all 6 unicorn liveries for the Lambos) at around level 400, and I’m still only about 65% through the career. I stopped caring about the credits after I completed my mini game of owning every car.
My next mini game, while working through career, is to max out the affinity on ALL manufacturers, then it’ll be on to get every badge in the game, just to say I have completely finished a Forza game to 100% FH2 presents F&F for both 360 and One don’t count, in my book as they are basically arcade games).
When I’m done with all of that, it’s on to FH2 (One version), then FM5, then FH2 (360 version), then FM4, and finally FM3. I doubt I’ll complete FM2, as I still need the 1 million credits earned in online multiplayer achievement, and since the game is so old, and not very many people play it, I can’t find anyone, let alone a full lobby to boost that thing. Oh well. Won’t affect my Forza Rewards Score very much.
I have maxed out my credits. Filled my garage. I get 10 million everytime I do a spin… what’s the point in all this and who the hell is getting my credits now
Not anywhere near maxed but I just quit paying attention at $100 million. I still take the spins because of the gambler in me still likes to get the biggest prize but I just buy what I want and sell what I dont like just to get it out of the lineup.
I do check the personal stats periodically just to see what goes on in there but wish there was more useful info like previous 3-5 lap times per class and car so I could track my own progress and improvement.
Keep buying and see? I’ve never gotten that high in credits mostly because they were harder to get. I do know the display is limited though. There used to be people with billions of credits in other games that had an auction house.
At what point does gaining credits no longer matter? I am not quite at 999,999,999 credits, just a little over half way there. I honestly don’t care how much I have. There comes a certain point where credits no longer matter. I would imagine that I would max out in just under a month. When that happens, I will have some bragging rights that don’t mean a thing. It’s not like I can take them with me when I die, I can’t turn those credits into real money, and I’m pretty sure T10 isn’t going to let me keep them for Forza 7. If your world ends, would you please keep us informed…
