Each car has their strengths and weaknesses, but I’m wondering what the community’s opinions on the cars are and what car each person prefers in the division.
I tend to use the SLS GT3. It’s overlooked since its performance is average, and it doesn’t really excel at anything. That being said, I haven’t won any races with it yet, but I’m glad to get the occasional podium. I try to stay away from the usual picks for speed/handling just to be different.
I think the best all-around is the Huracan, but the Jaguar and BMW M3 are both very fast. Among the three I think it comes down to personal taste. The DBR9 is highly competitive on certain tracks and is very easy to drive on the stock settings. Most of the rest of the options are good at some specific tracks, but few are as flexible as the Huracan, Jaguar, and M3.
But really this is a very well balanced class and a good player can get wins in pretty much any car available. I tend to bounce around a lot just to listen to something different. The Bentley has a nasty, dirty classic British sound that I really enjoy.
The problem with the DBR9 is that it’s so heavily weighted towards grip that there aren’t many tracks where you can get away with running more than the minimum downforce setting. Even at the minimum setting it’s so incredibly slow at over 100 MPH, and not any better below 100 MPH that you’re one mistake away from getting passed by a Huracan on a straight, that you then have to sit behind at the next corner only to never see again after the next straight. It’s really easy to drive though, and still crazy grippy at the minimum downforce settings.
I don’t understand why this car is in the game TBH. If it was gonna be like this, I’d rather not have it, even though I don’t like seeing cars axed for whatever reason.
No Corvette, no Saleen, no MC12 to give it a fight in a proper division.
Exactly. We need the C5.R, S7R, JMB Racing MC12, Zonda GR, Esperante GTLM, Takata Dome NSX, Astra V8, AG 911 GT1, F1 GTR, GT Mk7, A4 Touring Car, R390 GT1, ABT TT-R, M3 GTR, Team Oreca GTS-R and F430GT to make it more diverse. Those cars would make great competition for some of the GT cars already in the game.
And the crazy part is we have had half of those in the Forza franchise previously and even the 2006 matech racing Ford GT gt1. I miss those cars and if they threw in the Lamborghini murcielago Rgt-1 that would be cool too.
I don’t mean that it’s a bad car, it’s really good. You just have to be careful about where you choose to run it if you’re trying to be competitive. Sometimes I like using it just because it’s so well balanced and nice to drive.
They all are pretty competitive if you tune them right, even the Gallardo.
I drive these cars a lot and my experience has shown me that the M3 is the best all-around car in the division. It can run top 10 times on any track in any weather condition, except high-speed tracks like daytona and monza, and is relatively easy to tune and drive. I’ve spent countless hours tuning and driving all the GT cars and the M3 is definitely my favorite.
Other great underdog contenders are the Merc, C7 corvette, Porsche RSR, and Aston GT3. The GT division is definitely the most balanced for how many cars are in it, so you can take whichever one is your favorite and make it competitive. That’s why it’s such a great division.
The Audi R8 is my personal favorite. I’m not personally fast enough for podiums but it is a very capable car. But as others have said, a tune is a must have for whatever your go-to car is.
The SLS a great all rounder and the C7r and Porsche RSR are easily competitive and the DB9, Audi TT, M6, and XBOW have no top end and aren’t good for tracks with long straights
My top 3 go-to in this class is the c7R with that excellent braking and grip plus being torque heavy it can come out the corners with some speed. Another is the viper GTLM which is pretty much on par with Vette but has even better grip but lacks a little top end. Last one would be the #59 McLaren 12c. It’s got decent speed, nice overall grip and sounds good.
Just got the two little BMW Z4s hooked up. First race in one on the Catalunya Club circuit and it was absolutely horrendous. So I softened the rear springs and dampers slightly, raised the ride height a tiny bit, shortened second gear, increased the rear camber a touch and decreased both accel and decel on the diff a couple of notches and bam she’s an absolute delight. Set a top 10% lap, and a few dirty laps that would have been top 1%. I think a good few hours in this car will have only positive results.
I have a good tune on both of them now and I have made matching/contrasting black and white liveries on each car too they would look good in a team garage together.
The DBR9 and Ford GT are dominant on tracks like Laguna, Nürburgring, Hockenheim if tuned the right way, and Road Atlanta short. The new M8 GTE is an all rounder is good around Prague and the short layout of Bernese Alps. The C7 that I have a tune for Is good for Road America Alt (4.12mi). C6 is good for the long versions of Bernese Alps. Jaguar is good at Waltkins. Maserati and Lambo at Le Mans, Lamborghinis breaks aren’t to great though. The Gallardo is only good on Le Mans Bugatti and wet Silverstone. DBR9 is also great at Brands Hatch (prefers Indy circuit the most). M3 GT2, Z4, and C7 great around COTA, and Jag is also great at Road America short, basically the rectangle. All from experience.
