Each car has its own strengths and weaknesses, do let’s devide it in 3 groups,
We can divide the tracks up in 3 categories,
Fast, Technical and Fast , technical
For example : Lemans, Nordschleife, Laguna Seca
For the faster tracks I would take the Audi R8 LMS
Good mid range acceleration and decent top speed, the audi is at best at tracks like Lemans and Bernese alps
For the fast and technical tracks I would go for either the Porsche 991 RSR or the Lamborghini Huracan
They have a reasonable top speed, brake very well and have good corner exit acceleration.
Both the Porsche, Audi and Lamborghini are still quite allround but when tuned right they really have diffrent strengths
For the technical tracks I would choose the Ford GT, it has a quite low top speed but amazing grip and control. It’s at it best at tracks like Laguna Seca and Rio.
I left the Aston Martin and KTM out because they lose 2+ seconds on the straights per lap, their coroer speed is good but when racing you will see you opponents dissappear on the Straights, even on very technical tracks these cars make no sense
I also left the Maserati out because I think it should be banned, it destroys fun game play at faster tracks - read other people’s posts for more about this
But what is your favourite GT car?
Mine is the Porsche 991 RSR
I think personally that the gt cars should be divided in GTLM and GT3 Catogory (WEC/IMSA & Blamcpain/ any GT3 racing division)
The Maserati doesn’t need to be banned, it just be in a completely different category.
If Forza had actual categories like you mentioned, we wouldn’t have this problem. They don’t even have to be called the correct names as long as the proper cars are grouped together.
The Ferrari 488 I made from the GT into a GTE and added the pre-requisite +20% horsepower boost to consistantly run with unbeatable AI in endurance races. I set up single races with my car in its own bucket with the number parameters the same as the Forza GT class and then setup the rest of the multi class buckets. I’ve been very happy with its consistantcy since it appears Turn 10 is never going to update this class. Did you know the 458 Italia NEVER raced the Ford GT and was already obsolete? Now the Ford GT is in its last program year. Luckily there is a Risi Competizion skin for the 488 as they’re my home team.
I haven’t driven everything in “GT” yet. I haven’t driven the Audi, Nissan, KTM, Maserati, Bentley, either Lamborghini, BMW Z4, GT1 Corvette, Mercedes SLS, Jaguar, or the Flying Lizard Porsche GT3. Of the things I’ve driven I would call the Ford GT the most stable and easiest to drive. I haven’t really paid that much attention to it’s top speed. The Corvette GLTM and BMW M6 are also both quite stable. Both Ferrari’s feel very loose and the BMW M8 and Viper fall somehwere in between. The '17 Aston is also somewhat loose but to me it has a very touchy throttle.
I would love to see proper GT classes in the game but Turn 10’s track record isn’t very good when it comes to proper classifications for just about anything.
