Is the forza GT Audi any good?

,

Hello chaps.

I’ve only just started to do Forza GT racing due to 1. The ring and 2. Long race format(definitely my favorite race length)

I haven’t used many of the cars so the first one i picked to level to 50 is the sweet looking audi gt3 car.

Thing is though, out of five races so far I’ve been the only one using it. So my question is, is the audi any good or am i shooting myself in the foot by using it?

  1. Are you winning?
  2. Are you trying to win?

Back at release the R8 was one of the meta F-GT cars, it has been nerfed a bit in the meantime but from memory it is still at least competitive, I’ve found it comes down to driving style more than anything (except for times like when outright top speed is paramount and the Lexus dominates). As long as I’m competitive I tend to ignore whatever is the current meta and drive either what fits me the best or something new that I’m trying to level up (not that it matters any more). I’ve 50’d the Audi, Lexus, Merc, both Lambos, Ford GT, M8, RSR, Viper, Falcon and maybe one or two others, next will be either the AM or Ferrari.

I haven’t won but I’ve been moving forward every single race. Its just weird that i have yet to see a single other person running the audi.

Also wasn’t there another lambo in this division before?

The SCV12 got moved to the Modern Factory Racecars division.

I wonder why.

It’s not a GT car and at launch, the 2x Hurcan ST weren’t available.

I loved the Audi GT3 but have fully leveled it and am working my way through the other GT cars.

It’s a really solid, well rounded car

If you like it, drive it!

The Audi is a very good car still. It’s no longer the OP Meta though. It was nerfed 6% on power which puts it in the very good, but not quite meta or OP.

Add on to that that the car is hard to drive and tune, and not many people use it. Of course when they nerfed it, the 18 Lambo was added which was basically the same thing as pre-nerf Audi, except even better on pace and slightly worse on tire wear. In Private Lobbies, we make people ruin the Lambo with a 5% power handicap to balance it which gets it pretty close. However, no one uses it, because like the Audi, it is even harder to drive and tune.

So what makes it so hard to drive and tune? I have noticed that while tuning it, i have the problem where the rear really wants to slide out on corner exit. Gonna fiddle with it some more today.

I had a pretty good race today. Went from 12th to 4th but then made mistake on last lap and finished fifth.

It’s really twitchy and prone to sudden snap oversteer on corner entry and mid corner. I’ve managed a tune that gets the car to behave mid corner and mostly on corner entry, but still find I need a bit of throttle to stabilize the rear on high speed corner entry. Both the Audi and Lambo are super stable on throttle though. Even with a decent tune, it can be a bit tricky to drive with a meta tune (full front aero, min rear aero). That is why I see a bunch of Lambo drivers in cars that are relatively slow on straights, because they load up the rear aero to stabilize the rear.

Yeah during a race in heavy rain at suzuka i had to max the rear downforce. Thing was wild haha. I don’t use tcs or sc either.

I also love the Audi because I’m an Audi fan N1 but they just nerfed it a lot! I was doing gt racing today on le mans and got 13th place so I was getting overtaken by Porsches and Lexus basically all
