Probably been done to death I'd imagine, but I'll ask anyway.....

…bet you thought this was about Unicorns didn’t you?

I absolutely adore this game by the way, I’ve played in excess of 300 hours since about February/March. One of my all-time favourites.

So anyway, I’ve played and played and played about with different cars and different set ups and I’ve been trying to pick out my favourite in the game. Even if I widen that to a favourite car per class, I’m struggling (although I’ve had a go, for the purposes of this thread). The car I have most hours/miles with is the Lotus Exige (always wanted one in real life) but I wouldn’t necessarily say it’s the one I love most. I’ve recently discovered the Tesla Roadster and that is a heck of a lot of fun, yet I also love my big noisy engines - the Muscle Pack was the first one I downloaded, such is my love for those massive American V8’s and the like.

So, forumites of the world, I ask you - what is your favourite car on Forza 4 overall?

If you can’t pick one I’ll let you cheat and pick one per class. Which is the route I’m taking…

F - Volkswagen Beetle
E - Lotus Eleven
D - Renault 5 Turbo

C - Lancia Stratos
B - De Tomaso Pantera
A - Lotus Exige

S - Lexus LF-A
R3 - Porsche 911 GT2 RS
R3 Racing - Ferrari F430GT Risi Competizione (#83)

R2 - Lamborghini Aventador
R2 Racing - Aston Martin DBR9 (#009)
R1 - Acura de Ferran Motorsport Jim Hall Tribute ARX-02a

Plenty there that I wanted to mention but I won’t for now. Let’s see what you come up with and see if you can recommend a car many may have overlooked. If I had to, I’d definitely suggest either the Pantera or the LF-A. Sensational cars.

E- Chevrolet Spark
A- Mitsubishi Evo. 10
R2- Ferrari 458 Italia

I’m sorry, I have no cars in my garage so I can’t see what was my favourite, I lost all my progress in all my games…

It’s cool brah.

Love the Evo 10, I’m a long time fan of the WRC going back to the 80’s/90’s and especially Colin McRae in his Impreza. Big fan of Tommi Makinen too though and that Evo IV may have been the greatest rally car ever. I get excited by anything that’s AWD!

D - VW Golf VR6 -98
C - GMC Syclone
B - Alfa Romeo 155 Q4
A - Dodge Charger -69
S - Mustang -95
R3- #05 Ford Fusion Stock car

From all of these the -69 charger takes the cake. with it’s 51 wins, 127 podiums, and 142 races and 1 DNF

Actually I’m quite surprised that there isn’t any Japanese cars in this group, But then again I love my muscle cars so much.

I’ve just been looking at my American Muscle collection, and I have to say that if I could pick one from the group, it likely would be the '69 Charger. I have it specced as a C so that I can do the classic American races, it’s immense.

77 Ford Escort RS1800 built up to B class
2000 Ford Mustang built up to A class
If I had to go with a C class, the 87 Sierra or the the other escort. I forget what year it is. Late 80’s early 90’s.
I’m not saying I’m all that fast in any of them, but they are my favorites.

As a rule, my favorite cars are the older ones, but I’m actually more interested in smaller engined cars of the older type. American muscle is cool, but not my complete passion. Even though I’m an American. I still have a lot of cars I’ve yet to drive.

well I have a few cars I really like

  1. Lotus Cortina - this little car is just amazing it is a front engine car but has a launch comparable if not better then a mid engine car
  2. Scion FRS - made a s class car and was amazed how well it still did given it starts in C class is a bit loose but is fun to drive
  3. VW Bug 04 - this is a little bit of a sleeper car, people just don’t seem to expect this FWD car. I surprised one friend with it
  4. Ford Sorts Van - cause its a van!

My favorite car in the game since FM2 has been the 82 Porsche 911. Nothing to do with handling or anything like that, I just think it’s one of the best looking cars ever made. Just my opinion, no one need be offended.

For racing I love the 911 Sport Classic in A class and S class, (yes, I’m a big Porsche fan! :p). It has great handling and good speed and can contend with most anything on the track.

My favorite car has always been the Mustang, since I was like four and my uncle took me out in his 66 convertible, so yeah, I never pass an opportunity to race any of the Stangs’, especially the Boss 429.

Ultima GTR
Bugatti Veyron SS
Koenigsegge Agera
Aston Marten Cygnet
Nissan Skyline GTR
Aston Martin ARX-01…02
Sauber C9

Someone likes speed!

The Cygnet is an odd one though, any reason?

I like the ‘superminis’, if that’s what you want to call them. Managed to heavily modify a Nissan Micra to R3, it was insane. The Cygnet I’m not a fan of though, very sluggish compared to most, certainly at F Class.

There is a big difference in the game between modified cars and cars that are stock. For stock cars there are quite a few that I like (BTW I’ve never really liked gutless cars that handle on rails. I like the more challenging car control of heavier cars). Just to name a few that I think are fun to drive, but aren’t particularly popular: the latest gen BMW M5 (goes from oversteer to understeer at the drop of a hat, but communicates beautifully throughout), 427 Corvette (Satan’s car, handles evilly, but fast as stink if you can get it right), and as a last “oddball” fun to drive car, latest gen Audi TT (don’t laugh, drive it in game, surprisingly fun car).

For modified cars I’ll just list one of my many, my B class 1970 Camaro Z/28 with no aero. It does not make very good lap times, but it is balanced with “only” 375hp. It handles in an honest way, any mistake is basically my fault other than some initial understeer at turn in. It makes an amazing noise through the gears (I gave it a six speed). It looks good in a muscular, aggressive way without being ostentatious (I gave it stripes). I could lap that car for hours. Great machine, and an excellent example of what modifying a car can do since the stock version is garbage.

+20 forum points for use of the word ostentatious!

I try not to heavily change most cars, although some need it to even be competitive (yes, I’m looking at you Kia Sport Koupe), I may bump them up a class, sometimes two if the potential is there, but no more than that. Sometimes you can get into the habit of changing things too much, I had an issue originally with the American Muscle cars, bumping them up to S class, when in reality they were much more fun at C Class or thereabouts. When you modify them a lot, you’re simply turning them into clones of one another, is what I found, and I think that goes for most cars, certainly from the same manufacturer or with similar characteristics (Lotus Elise/Vauxhall (Opel) VX220 for example).

Right, anyway, a few recommendations from my good self.

No doubt you’ve probably tried them seeing as the game is about 3 years old anyway, or perhaps not seeing as there are something like 500 cars on the game? You never know anyway, have a look, add some yourself if you feel like it?

Austin-Healey Sprite MK1 - C Class. I was looking for something competitive to race in the 1950’s Classics event but didn’t want to spunk a few million credits on a Maserati or DBR. Instead I turned my F Class Bug-eyed Sprite into a C and ended up with a car that absolutely ripped the competition to shreds.

Speed - 4.7 (150.0 mph)
Handling - 4.9
Acceleration - 7.2
Launch - 7.5
Braking - 5.4

I’ve upped the power to 130HP giving the little motor a more than decent 131LB-FT of torque. It still struggles a bit on the steeper climbs, but overall it really gets through the gears. Give it a go.

The next one is the aforementioned Porsche 911 (997) GT2 RS. If you haven’t driven this baby you haven’t lived. I’ve not modified it much, only up to R3, but it goes like that mucky stuff off a shovel. The first thing you need to do with it is put decent tyres and brakes on it so that it will actually stay on the track for more than 5 seconds, but once you do you wont want to drive anything else.

Speed - 10 (230.3 mph)
Handling - 6.8
Acceleration - 9.9
Launch - 9.3
Braking 6.8

It has a gravity shattering 863 HP giving it enough torque to literally change the orbit of the Earth. 691LB-FT to be exact. I did have a play with it for a while as an AWD, but it wasn’t quite the same fun. I think I’ve had a smile on my face for just about every second I’ve driven that car, which is a long time, as I’ve driven it a lot.

Last one for now, and it’s the 1995 BMW 850CSi. I currently have this spec’d up to A Class, although I have a B tune for this which is simply titled “INSANE”. My current specs for this at A are as follows…

Speed - 9.2 (212.7 mph, yes you read that right)
Handling - 5.7
Acceleration - 8.2
Launch - 7.7
Braking - 6.0

I don’t use this behemoth much, it tends to be on the longer, straighter tracks like Motegi, Sebring, Road America, or on the Oval events. It can be quite sluggish to get near top speed, but once it does it’s essentially men against boys. That B spec I mentioned, by the way:

Speed 9.2 (yep, same speed)
Handling - 4.7
Acceleration - 7.5
Launch - 7.1
Handling - 4.6

Now you can see why it’s called “INSANE”. 526 HP, 508 LB’s of Torque per foot, it really is a terrifying car for that level. Terrifying mainly because you’ll struggle to keep your wheels on the tarmac. If you’re able to do so though, and you’re driving on one of the tracks I mentioned above, well, good luck to your opposition, because they’ll need it.

Right, your turn.

Was hoping for more replies than this to be honest!

Ah well, 'tis the way of the world.

If you’re still playing this and you want a laugh, buy yourself a DeLorean (if you haven’t already done so, for the Outta Time achievement) and upgrade it to an A class. It will beat the pants even off the Ferrari F430.

If you want a tune for it, I have one, by the way.

Oh, and the Pantera. Wibble. Had a few races at A class and S class - it’s a beast I tells ya, a beast!

R3: #77 Cusco Impreza/ #83 F430GT/ #2 M3 GTR
R2: Corvette C5.R
R1: Peugeot 905 Evo1C
C: Mazda RX-7 FC
B: MR2 GT-S
A: Aston DB7 Zagato
S: Ferrari F40

Probably my favorite out of this list is the Peugeot. It looks awesome, the tiny but powerful V10’s voice is bliss at 12,000 RPM, and because it’s an LMP, it goes faster than the speed of light around any track. My other top pick would be a tight choice between the R3s. The Impreza has tons of grip, making it ideal for short winding courses, and the F430 and the M3 are both pretty good all-rounders…

Probably my favorite car out of this list is the Peugeot 905. It’s an absolutely insane car, and while it may not be quicker than a 787B or a Sauber C9, it still gets the job done. Not to mention I like the way it looks more than either the 787B or the Sauber. Also, I really quite like the Cusco Impreza for its huge amounts of grip, making it one of the easiest and most fun cars I’ve driven on Forza.
