Let us know what forza says about it. Today bought logitech g920 wheel, fh4, gear shifter and [Mod Edit - Abbreviated profanity, profanity and profanity that is disguised but still alludes to the words are not permitted - D]. That steering deadline. Turn wheel for 45 degrees and then just wheels start to turn thought that the wheel is broken, but just tried it on fh3 and it works perfect as soon as u turn wheel, wheels are turning, no deadline at all, hope they will fix it in fh4 .
is the issue ONLY with the g920? I have a DFGT and the game plays perfect. Though when setting the steering setting to “simulation” the cars handle like crap. Normal works perfect.
Wheel Fixes
Fixed a bug where users were unable to navigate menus after clearing a custom wheel profile.
Fixed Multi-USB device saving action map issue.
FH4 patch notes.
the update doesnt change the bad train like response
Has anyone tried their wheel since the update? Do deadzone adjustments work yet? Clutch grinding audio still there?
for everyone try to unistall the Logitech G920 Programm an use the Windows Stock driver for the G920, with that i have the best results Maybe someone will help that
the Problem is i can just use the wheel now in forza 4. The other games doesnt find the wheel without the Logitech Programm, also not every button is Set
But you will feel a difference between with Driver and Stock Windows Driver
I also put the last point wheelsensitive to 25 and Ffb to 25
A user on Reddit posted this detailed explanation on the force feedback system works. I think it’s important that I share this information with you because I agree with his argument and some of you will find it informative.
" [FH4] All “Wheel settings posts” are completely invalid
Let me explain.
Forza Horizon 4 does not have a “universal steering model” for wheel users.
A deep and thorough explanation of each advanced wheel setting can be found here and I highly recommend reading through every word if you use a wheel on this game.
However, the tl;dr of it all, is that all wheel settings every player comes up with and posts, are per car settings.
All of us wheel users have done it, we get in a car, we dial a settings, test, redial, test again, etc. etc. until finally we have it! Then we rush to Reddit and the forums to loudly proclaim: I have found the answer!!
What happens though, is after we make that post, we go back to our game, drive around blissfully with our new “perfect wheel settings” and then we try to jump in a team adventure, which requires us to take a completely different class/style of vehicle, and boom… it’s back to spin-city.
The first problem is Forza Horizon 4 does not use a “Steering Model” for wheels, in fact, all of the hard work and effort made to make controller steering feel “perfect” in the game is “disabled at the input level” when a wheel is plugged in.
Source
Forza is known for being controllable and natural on a gamepad and these systems are a major component of that feeling. There are multiple systems layered together to create Normal steering. Simulation Steering turns these systems off. The input layers of these systems are turned off any time you use a wheel, regardless of the steering setting.
This basically means that the wheel acts the same no matter what car you are driving, which is to say it feels different with every car you drive.
A lot of this has to do with “steering lock.”
Someone could probably explain this better than me, but essentially, every car has a maximum angle at which the tires will turn, as well as a maximum degree of rotation the steering wheel will turn.
In real life, both of these factors are per-car, however, in Forza, only the first factor (maximum angle of tire rotation) is per-car. Since you’re using the same wheel for all cars (i.e. the one in your hands), the rotation does not change per car you drive.
I’ll quote the article above again:
Example: Car X modern supercar has 36 degrees of lock but in real life it’s max wheel rotation is 750 degrees. In this case you want to either set your wheel rotation to 750 degree and keep sensitivity to 50, or you increase the sensitivity up to 70 and you keep the wheel rotation set at 900 degrees. Either way you are going to drive with the same steering ratio, and the car will feel identical.
This means, that every car you drive in Forza Horizon 4, you must do these things:
Know (magically) the maximum degree of steering lock
Adjust the sensitivity or rotation of the wheel in your settings
This means (impossibly) when you switch from that McLaren Senna to that Ford F150, you must go five-menus deep and adjust the steering sensitivity in the Advanced Wheel Settings menu, each time, with no way to retain settings per car… you literally have to memorize it, or dial it in each time.
Turn10 even recommends this. Again, from the article:
TIP - we suggest you adjust wheel rotation in software OR Steering Sensitivity in game, not both.
Unless your hardware is limited in terms of wheel rotation, set your device to 900 degrees and then play with the in-game Steering Sensitivity to adjust the steering ratio to what you like or need based on the car you’re currently driving.
Keep the Steering Sensitivity setting unchanged (50) and play with your wheel software to set the steering wheel degrees of rotation until your happy with the controls based on the car you’re currently driving.
This makes game modes like Team Adventure completely impossible to play for wheel users.
With all that said, unless this is a “one-car” game for you (i.e. you only like driving a [insert car here] and nothing else), using a wheel in Forza Horizon 4 is impractical at best, improbable for most of the content, and impossible for certain game modes."
See, I’d say that’s completely the wrong way to go about it, because if you bring up the telemetery, you can see that steering sensitivity does massively non-linear things to your steering with step changes in speed - and it feels awful on anything but 50.

Anyone observe any change in performance or recieve any meaningful communication from the dev team? Like many others, I have bought a G920 for this game but l am lucky to have not purchased F4 yet. Every once in a while I’ll read a post about it being somewhat playable which makes me want to pull the trigger and buy it. The final holdout for me is what appears to be a lack of recognition by the developers. I am having a hard time believing that this dev team lacks the accountability or technical ability to replicate the issue. That observation could possibly be from the poor communication from the developer acknowledging these issues exist. The wait continues.
Is the consensus so far that F4 is not ready for users who have a wheel/peddles? Additionally it appears many view a fix is expexted eventually based off of history of other games and not because of this particular dev teams ownership on most of these issues?
If you wanna give it a go get the game pass for a month, but honestly I’d wait till they FINALLY! address this because it is incredibly frustrating having this amazing game that you just cant play!
I’ve gone back to playing Forza 7 &Horizons 3 and its soooo refreshing to play a game when the car does what you want it to and you dont have to keep compensating for broken mechanics.
I;ve been contacting Playground games on twitter with no response which is insane. I personally think they have too many mechanics going on with all the different weather system, car types &
road surfaces and its a complete mess. I dont mind if thats the case just come out and bloody address it!!, let us know you acknowledge the problem and a fix is in the works thats the frustrating thing for me… that and the grinding sound…
Honestly, you can play it well with a wheel, but it’s very frustrating at other times, especially multiplayer where a small bump or someone tapping your car will send you into an uncatchable drift/spin. Stuff like the co-op off road races in lightweight cars or buggies are awful because all the stuff they make you smash through on course just puts you into permanent slides and spins.
Playing with a wheel versus the controller at the minute feels like someone just grabs the CoG/CoY on all the cars and moves it back 2 feet.
Am I the only one where setting feel like they change? Like yesterday everything went wonderful and felt smooth. Today however my car does the smallest slide and either goes into a complete spin out or my wheel yanks out of my hand. Ik Icould just change settings but I shouldn’t have to every time I turn the game on.
I wish I had seen this post before picking for F4. I got a G29 for among a few things, Horizon 4 because it looks to be a real fun open world driving experience. Saddly its all been frustration in getting the wheel to be anything but usable. I’ve gotten much better in open world but it is impossible for me to be in a pack race.
Why developers ignoring this big thread??? WHEEL IS NOT RESPONDING WHEN SLIDING/DRIFTING …we are unable to control SLIDE/DRIFT !!! DO SOMETHING WITH IT !!! OR GIVE US OUR MONEY BACK …thank you
My G920 works great! Biggest need I saw for controlling was putting the linearity below 50. It was mentioned the explanation is backwards to the setting.
I have mine @ 42.
Dampening @ 190 - I like it heavy.
Controls like a dream, drifts, dips, high speed, absolutely no oscillation or twitchy driving.
All the other settings are according to taste. I like realism so, I set for good vibrations…
Hope it helps.
This is good advice especially for RWD cars. I was racing with a Porsche that was undrivable the arse just kept going. (I drive with no assists on simulation) but after changing these two setting it really helped keep the car from spinning. You still have to accelerate slowly and evenly out of corners but after no time I was winning races on Expert with no assists and clutch and shifter.
You have to be careful not to put the numbers up too high or too low as AWD cars begin to have massive understeer but a big help. Thanks!!
Is this actually going to ever get picked up and worked on or is it just going to be ignored forever that catching slides and drifts is godawful on a wheel and half the settings are STILL broke?
I mean, it’s terrible compared to your own previous games, never mind a multitude of other games, and it’s so irritating to have a decent game hidden behind the frustration of trying to use the wheel with it that I’ve pretty much put it down now because it’s really killing the fun in the game.
At least an acknowledgement that you’re looking into it or not would be nice.
My friend recently picked up a Fanatec CSL and asked me if he should purchase FH4 and I said no. He was surprised that I would say that because we played FH3 on my Logitech G920 and had blast. I brought the game over to his house so he could experience the fantastic wheel support FH4 has to offer, needless to say, he was greatly disappointed. He played on the controller for a while and pointed out the vehicles felt super light and it was too easy to slide the car. He concluded Forza Horizon 4 isn’t for him.
