[ANSWERED] [XBOX] FH4 Unplayable with Logitech G920 Wheel

I think things like input lag from displays is something you should look into in general but that not the issue here, if it was we would be having the same issue with other games, and we aren’t.

There is a lot! going on in Horizons 4 with all the weather system & I dont think they’ve been tested enough with a wheel to make sure that the physics engine works across the board.

The fact the gear grinding sound is still in the game at this point goes to show that nobody at playground games has spent any length of time playing this game with a racing wheel & that’s
the real issue here.

With the latest update, I noticed a huge difference, the wheel is more responsive when turning and the center dead zone is nearly gone.

When you boot the game don’t use the Xbox controller to launch the game, use the wheel. If the wheel starts spazzing out, unplug it from the usb or power source and quit out of the game with the pad. Turn off the controller before Plugging the wheel back into the usb or power source and relaunch Forza.

These are my current settings on the XBOX ONE. I haven’t tuned it perfectly but it’s playable.

Steering axis dead zone inside…0
Steering axis dead zone outside…100
Steering linearity…70

Vibration scale …0
Force feedback scale…30
Center spring scale …0
Wheel damper scale …0
Force feedback understeer…0
Force feedback minimum force…15
Wheel rotation angle…300

Still horrible… updated, took the focus for a ride and I thought that everything was alright. Then I chose the 2018 mustang Gt and it’s a horrible experience… tried every setting! Brake still sucks too! Gonna cancel my gamepass and go back to FH3!

Still unplayable after the update, especially the rally races constantly still spinning out and there is still the huge deadzone in the centre of the steering.

But the grinding seems to be better with the clutch!?

This absurd!

“Update” can’t start the game without my G920 (xbox) going crazy!? Could you not spend five minutes plugging one in and checking before you release it to millions of people? Just a thought. I’m going back to previous titles until you chooose to serve some of your most loyal customers. Certainly not buying into anything. One of many unsupported wheel owners.

Gonna cancel my gamepass aswell. Using a csl elite wheel spins out without control. Just posting because this is the most active thread on the subject. And the problem is not only for logitech wheels. We have reported the same undrivability on thurstmaster and fanatec wheels.

The braking needs to be adjusted. I was playing at my friend’s house, and he doesn’t have a modded brake pedal like mine, I felt like it was going to bend the brake pedal. On my modded brake pedal, I feel like I’m only getting 40% of the braking. On my friends, it feels like I’m getting 15%-20%. I still spin out, but I don’t think it’s because of the steering. I think if Turn10 adjusted the braking, I would be able to correct the vehicle when I spin out.

When I try to boot the game with the G920, it spazzes out. I’ve launched the game with the controller, and when it brings me to the home page, I turn off the controller and plug in the G920.

Has anyone had the issue where it feels like your settings change overnight? Like I got the steering feeling good then the next day I get on and it felt like all of it changed it went back to me not being able to do anything again. I eventually was able to fix it somewhat but still nowhere how it felt.

Someone posted some wheel settings can’t remember who but the game became playable. Since the update it’s now unplayable again but they deny there is an issue. I have cancelled my game pass until this is resolved. I think it might be time for a ps4 as my patience is running very thin with Microsoft

I’ve tried various settings but still have a total 90 degree deadzone in steering input even when set the deadzone is set to zero. The effective deadzone when set to Zero seems to be about a total of 90 degrees, 45 degrees in each direction for no turn.

This effect is quite clear in both the in car view and telemetry (no turn input is registered until you go about 45 degrees in either direction with the wheel).

When you want a lower total steering angle (“STEERING SENSITIVITY”), of say 270 degrees this creates a deadzone of 33% of total steering even when deadzone in advanced settings is set to 0.

Note: I tried to submit the above as a bug, but ZenDesk email confirmation failed so I can’t submit a bug to Forza since the reply from forzasupport.zendesk.com that requires verification on email ends up returning a server error.

Edit: Dupe Post, mod please delete this one post.

Hi guys. I was having the same problem with my thrustmaster wheel. It was unplayable. I plugged into the usb on the back of my console and this fixed the problem. I hope this helps someone.

I actually saw a post with a Video showing the same problem with Thrustmaster after posting my post (Maybe yours?). It is better now: I no longer have any noticable deadzone with 0 setting. It was one or more of:

  1. Plugging into the back usb of my Xbox one S
  2. Re-starting Forza with only the wheel and no controller plugged in

Note: Forza doesn’t seem to have a quit button, and also doesn’t show up in the mini-icon running apps either. But if I click the “more” button on the Large icon on the xbox Home screen then I can quit. You probably want to make sure you are not doing anything savey when quitting.

I’ve just tried that on my Day One Ed. Xbox One, rear USB does this lol

If its not in the patch notes, then it has not been fixed. Its not going to magically go away if its not in the patch. I tested both the back usb port and latest version today and its the same.

And as said before in this thread and written in the wheel guide NO amount of tweaking the wheel settings will change how the car handles, only how the wheel feels in your hands.

Game is still on hold for me

Yeah no point playing this or posting setting till its properly fixed. Such a shame I was so looking forward to this.

So I have plugged in my wheel today to see how it would be after the update.

Results: Still a complete train wreck.

What a shame, this is the best FH so far, and it is absolutely unplayable for me, I will log out from here, uninstall the game, and wait for FH5. It’s been a month since 4 has been released, screw that.

its a shame that this thread has died out. The devs and / or mods NEEDS to see this thread and address it !!

Couldn’t agree more…

Only so many times you can complain about it though…the lack of communication is startling…

I’ve taken to contacting them on Twitter directly.
