Hey, I’m Walynds, first I’m a Forza driver, long time racer.
Just wanted to pop a few thoughts down regarding the game, considering this is my first console racing experience since the original GT days on the PS One.
What I like
The graphics. Amazing. Scenery, cars, bloody beautiful.
The handling physics. Se above re lack of playing racers for years, but it ‘feels’ good.
Online racing…(see below)
Livery design. Bleeding love it!
Track mapping and the realism of the tacks. 10/10
Tune sharing.
League promotion system.
Upgrades. Love my a class Kadett!
Accuracy of dashboards on cockpit view!
What I don’t.
Online racing. My giddy aunt, could we like make it round the damn first corner?? Lack of respectful racing by roughly 30% of drivers of most lobbies. Not as bad in league.
Bump and run. What happened to being better and patient?
How lobbies die at the very sight of the Nordschlifie. (Love that track)
There are Fords in the game. Gross.
Lag, the interweb variety, not turbo lag.
Getting “Turn 10’ed” (thanks SuperGT) but yeah its racing. Sometimes.
Track limits, or the YMA (Yas Marina effect)
The UI. Hate it. Hate the rigmarole finding lap times, tunes for cars your not in, not being able to access upgrades and tuning from the hopper interface. Hate it takes me to the porshe screen every time it loads. Just find it clunky. Maybe it’s my PC master race bias.
The way the reporting system works. Set up to discourage you from reporting in the first place (IMHO).
Need to be able to save more replays.
Overall, really, really enjoying myself. Considering I’ve been playing DOTA 2 and WoW for the vast majority of the last 10 years, I found it pretty easy to get back into the swing of it. If you were good and any reasonably realistic racing game, you will settle in here.
The agro in the lobbies annoys me. Especially since the most loud and vocal complainers in my bracket are the bashers themselves when someone screws up or exacts a sweet revenge.
What is it with consoles crashing anyways? Bring back the old days. When I had my megadrive…(insert nostalgic old man rant here).
Hope to see some of you out there on the tracks. I have a few liveries out with Birmingham City, Aussie and Music sponsored cars, check them out!
online you will always get people who pick stupid cars just to cause a crash on first corner, another thing i hate if someone is faster than you dont just keep blocking them be kind and let them past
Well said. The stupid cars are less of a problem in r, p and x classes. Modern gt endurance hopper is also a big improvement on the standard hoppers. I agree with the op the game is brilliant but it has alot of broken aspects that can easily ruin the entire game
If you have pitted and caught me before my pit stop, I’ll let you buy.
If not, Ill hold my line. Plenty of fast racers IRL are great hot lappers but can’t ‘race’. Same applies here. If you can’t outbreak me, pressure me into a mistake or be outright fast enough to carry corner speed and do me on a straight you’re in for a challenge.
Not blocking on straights though. In bird persons culture that’s called a…
Ask yourself why people happily vote for Spa (btw where are 4 laps of it? In S800 it’s 3)
Will you get it if I tell you that it’s way more difficult to overtake on the Nordschleife? Add the noob racing skills of most of the players in public lobbies. Big pile up in narrow sectors.
What about the boredom of racing 2 full laps of it with only a couple of opponents?
Either way, people get it. That’s why nobody votes for it.
If you want to race on the nurb find people who want to. Problem solved.
I think it’s more out of not willing to be patient enough to learn the track. I absolutely love it when I set a fast and clean time at this track. I personally don’t think 1 lap would work in 24 person lobby as 16th on back might as well give up not having a chance of passing everyone for top 3 finish let alone 1st. But then again I have only raced on Nordschleife in leagues where most of the racers attempt to be clean. May not be a good track for regular hoppers where the skillset is spread out.
I don’t think there is a more universally hated track than the ring. But that being said I wouldn’t want to see it go I just have no desire to see it in multiplayer along with lemmans old and top gear. Fm4 had the tracks and hoppers sorted. Each class has a selection of tracks that suited the speeds of the cars. For instance camino vajio extreme was in the high classes and shorter versions were in the lower classes. Fm6 does not do this or if it does its very limited and completely ignored in leagues as we seem to get some really silly track choice (1 quick stop on catalunya school). Bring back set track roatation with option to skip. 1 lap round the ring for higher classes. Put a bit more thought into the track rotation/lap count and I think that would stop so many people backing out or tracks getting ignored completely
No no no. I got sick of running the small tracks in lower classes in other forzas. I thought it was idiotic that I had to set a custom lobby to run GP circuits. Just because the cars are slower, they shouldn’t be prevented from running bigger tracks. It’s not like they are so slow that it takes forever to run a lap. The solution is to not run all out grip cars. I know this wouldn’t effect you since you’re only into high classes.
Turn 10 did it right (mostly) for lower classes. 5-7 minute races means that only Nurburgring would be excluded. All other tracks except top gear and oddly monza full are votable. More restrictions on available tracks in generic class based hoppers are a bad idea.
What wrong with old Lemans? It doesn’t take long to finish and there are passing opportunities unlike Nurburgring.
Fair enough. Some tracks are love 'em or hate 'em. I was just explaining why I quit lobbies or spectate whenever this one comes up. As I do with the Ring, Alps, Yas. any oval, and most of the short variants.
Your right. Everybody has there track the hate or like. Im not big fan of long track. My ADD I geuss. I enter a tunning contest and ran a ton of diffrent setup to see what worked and didn’t. The track really grow on me after that. I actually learn a lot and was able to apply this on alot of different tracks and being able to get oddball setup to be competitive.
I have to agree with many others here. The minute The Ring comes up in a lobby, I leave. I love the track for what it is, and iconic venue rich in racing history, but I refuse to race there. That’s just me though, for all the love the track, more power to you.
I have not finished 1 race at Nordschleife on line, I either mess up myself or get smashed at the start and the leader is already 10,0000 ft up the road. I like the track and it makes you think more than most, but if it comes up in a league race I’m just happy when the counter comes up to tell me my pain is nearly over.
