It can’t be that we are forced to play with 8 gear transmission cars. Then we are forced to install a racing transmission that has this HORRIBLE ANNOYING WHINE, to change the shifting points so it can be used as a 6 gear car for example.
Before i installed the racing transmission:
Best thing to do is add what fh5 has: 8,9 and 10 transmission gearbox.
There is also the drift transmission that has 4 gears and 6 and 7 in FH5. It depends what the basic transmission is.
I only use 7 gears if the car is faster than 400 km/h and 8 gears if it’s faster than 450 km/h. Else i always prefer 6 gears. And if it’s an old classic car i sometimes prefer 4 gears and 5 if it’s a 80’s or 90’s car, well it all depends how fast it is etc.
If they would just add 4-10 transmission gearboxes everybody would be happy. I mean it’s just some numbers i guess, it’s not like they have to create a physical thing that can be seen. It should be easy to add something like that.
Here I am enjoying the straight cut whine. Make it a toggle option.
Having more options for gear count would be appreciate.
Noticed this when grabbing an Audi RS7 for the first time. Cannot believe the only option is for a Race Transmission.
It absolutely sucks to be stuck with an 8-gear transmission when I work better with a 5-speed or 6-speed.
I would also love to have the race gearbox options with 6-10 gears. I usually run 7, because 7 is a lucky number, and especially for race cars, 7 gears are so much better, because it increases acceleration and helps with traction a little.
I honestly don’t mind the straight cut gearbox whine. Especially in V8 cars, a gearbox whine makes the car sound even more aggressive than before. 
The whine should be optional for each car IMO, but yeah we need gearbox options a lot of them.
A lot of older racing cars feature 4 gear boxes that are not upgradable as they’re already racing transmissions, see the GTX division for example. These cars could really do with a 6 or 7 speed to allow for better tuning around the turbolag some of these cars have.

It’s like all there is, is turbo and transmission whine but barely any engine sound. It’s just horrible that car is unuseable like that. Well the turbo is SUUUUUPER loud, the transmission whine is quieter than turbo in that case. But the overall package is like the worst I ever heard in a game.
It doesn’t, I don’t like the amount of gearbox whine either. An option to turn it down similar to engine/tyres/etc, or an option to change it per car would be nice to reduce/stop the gearbox audio.
The Subaru also sucks.

I am currently doing that 20th Anniversary thing with the NSX-R 05 that car has exactly the right transmission whine how it should be with race transmission. That is how cars should sound, the whine is there but subtle and it just sounds nice.
Especially if they add drag racing I want the old 4 speed or be able to choose for any car.
