When equipping the race transmission, the sound of the transmission is overpowers everything else, and the original engine noise is drowned out by the transmission whine to the point every car sounds exactly the some: whiny.
This happens to every single car I’ve tested. If this is a bug, it needs fixing. If this is intended, it still needs fixing.
It isn’t quite as loud as it used to be on release, though having sliders to adjust the volume of various sound sources (e.g. engine, transmission, etc) would allow people to tailor the experience to their tolerances.
Race transmissions have straight cut gears which produce a whine due to the increased surface area of contact. Its one of the few things motorsport actually got right

Engine sound shouldn’t be all whine though. And even if it’s realistic to be that loud, it’s not bearable. It’s such that I’m avoid putting in race transmission as much as I can.

For the love of God can you the motorsport devs add an audio slicer to turn transmission audio down. It is horribly annoying to have so loud and all the time if you use race transmission. Makes me not want to play the game it’s so bad and so annoying. Please!! Add an audio slider for transmissions. Please!!
I think the transmission sound is fine and pretty realistic to be honest. For me the problem is engine sound level which is generally too low.
When I have all the volume settings set the same, everything else sounds pretty equal but the engine sound is lost beneath all the other sounds in the game (transmission, passing cars etc.) and if you turn the volume up to hear the engine, everything else starts to sound too loud. On some cars I hit the rev limiter continuously since I change gears mostly by engine sound and if other car is driving close I really can’t hear at all what the engine speed is.

Hello,
Can you please provide a video of what you are experiencing in game?
Thank you,
I think you didn’t understood what McFlufferten wrote.
When you install the racing gearboxes then you loose the silent gearbox and get a straight cut one which is loud as hell. Here besto vid i could find as example: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dmJH84FnQa8&t=18s
When you install the biggest superchager then it gets whiny too. Video for example: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MPQsvsVWw3A
If you combine both then you wont here much of your engine at all because of all that whining.

It seems to have been fixed in the update. It is definitely not as loud as it used to be.
I would like slider for transmission sound tho, so that I can crank it up to max, I like the noise of straight cut gears.

Race trans whine is too loud. In road cars at least which have cockpit insulation and noise suppression, the whine shouldn’t be this loud.
Also, the trans whine is too loud from chase view. Like, it’s almost as loud as the exhaust.
Weird!
This could all be solved by allowing us to change the volume of more individual sound channels. If some people don’t want to hear the gears, they could simply turn that down. It would be a simple fix and it would please everybody.

Real racing cars whine because they have straight cut gears, and therefore it should be kept as it is realistic, but if you don`t watch real racing, i can understand that some people wonder the cars make that sound if you install a racing gearbox…
Here is the best sounding racing gearbox ever created, the SCREAMING Holinger 6 speed straight cut sequential racing gearbox in the Bmw 320I STW E36.
This has a 2 liter naturally aspirated 300 hp 4 cylinder Bmw engine, but the transmission sound has made the car a legend forever

This isn’t real racing, this is a videogame. Please stop trying to ruin videogames with “realism”. A slider to adjust sound levels isn’t too much to ask.

Requesting Devs to add a volume slider to adjust the transmission whine from the cars, cause frankly this is unbearable. I can barely hear my glorious lambo engine with this gearbox whine.
@T10ManteoMax Max please suggest this to the devs so that they can add to the bucket list.
A slider would help massively. However, I believe the issue is also with how the cars do not have proper dynamic range in the various views, especially cockpit.
Some cars actually have a decent dynamic range in all views, some have it really good actually, while others are quiet, lack impact, and do not relay a sense of power and impact (you’ll find that such cars also typically have weak and flat sounding cockpit audio)
Combined with the flat sounding notes without proper dynamic range, the trans whine tends to stick out like a sore thumb.
I core issue, again, is not the trans whine being too loud but the sound for individual cars not being recorded with the correct dynamic range for cockpit, bonnet/bumper, and chase.
