Kind of disappointed to see no 7 or 8 speed options for transmissions. It was a great addition to FH5 for cars with narrow powerbands.
We need that feature! Would also love to see possibility to upgrade a 7, 8 speed car to a 6 speed transmission.

In FH5 I use the 7 speed transmission on pretty much every car. Being able to keep the gearings closer together without giving up on top speed meant I could keep the cars in their powerband more.

I just tune the FD to put 6th gear at top speed, so I can use my H-pattern without having to hit the awkward 7th gear (fanatec CS).
It would also work great with cars that should be equipped with an automatic transmission by default but for some reason don’t have it in the game (VW Golf R mk7, mk8)
I’ll vote for this, but instead of 7, 8 speeds… I would really like to have race-tier 4 or 5 speed transmissions. 6 speeds don’t quite feel right in a classic muscle car with boatloads of torque

Yes all speeds. FH5 had 4 speed through 10 speed. No reason FM can’t do the same.

There is a bunch of older racecars that come with 5-speed or even 4-speed transmissions. Because they are proper race cars these are race transmissions, meaning you cannot upgrade them to the 6-speed race transmission.
On cars like the 1979 Datsun #33 280ZX Turbo, this is annoying. The car only has 4 gears, but works with a massive turbo, giving it a lot of turbo lag. As I said in an earlier reply having more gears would help keep the car out of the turbo lag, making it more drivable.
Can we get 2,4,5 speed transmissions also like real life…? Fh5 was cool feature on some cars to let you pick out these transmissions. 4-6 is plenty of gears for me to race with. But some people may want more…?
