3,4, and 5-speed Gearboxes

In FH5 there were 7,8,9 and 10-speed gearboxes added (leading to many many people putting 10-speeds into super-cars because 10 is a bigger number than 6)
But why aren’t there any ‘fewer geared’ gearboxes? Loads of cars run fewer gears (most older LMP1 cars had 5-speeds and many drag cars run as low as 2 speed gearboxes) so why is the only way to have one in horizon 5 to keep the stock gearbox?

Classic build for a hot meyers manx wiuld be a Corvair flat 6 and a 2 speed powerglide.

Yeah, they really didn’t do their homework on the engine swaps on this game. Would be nice if we actually had some real “big block” and “hot small block” motors to drop into the classic muscle cars.

V12 swaps are fine for Astons and Mercs and such. But they just don’t bode well in the classic muscle cars and trucks and 4x4’s

I’d be happy OP, if they’d give all the same options to all the cars… literally no reason to their decision making some times.

e.g.: older cars, some of the greatest Trans-Am series race cars from the 60s & 70’s all 4 speed Muncie transmissions… think you can put a 4 speed in many of those cars??? Nope… but hey, I can put it in the Raser and LOL my way through A class races with it… All because I guess, more people want to drift hyper cars than want a real race transmission in a car used for racing.

As it is, I just tune any trans I use to match my standard set of gearing I have a excel sheet of.
Now I just take the lightest fully adjustable tranmission and tune it up to match.

Given that I grew up in an era when Doug Nash pioneered the DN 5 speed replacement transmission. And B&M were making all sorts of shift kits for just about every automatic transmission on the road. I welcome the wide selection of transmissions. It’s great if people know how to use the gears and not just go for the biggest is best mindset.
But from my perspective as an automatic driver, it would be nice if they offered a selection of automatic changes.
Such as up/down shift setpoints (set a % from -20 to 20% over/under redline) manual downshift, even torque converter stall.

Problem is, majority of people playing have no idea who Doug Nash is, who Silver Sport. TREMAC or McLeod are. Or that B&M is a builder of transmission shift kits and not a bodily function.

To date, I’ve never found a use for the 10 speed transmission. But maybe I would if the next DLC for the game includes a schwinn.

While I do wish there were 5 speed gearboxes as an option all the time, I do have some pointers.

Stock cars have their correct stock transmissions.

Street transmission (if available as an upgrade) = 5 speed

Sport transmission will have the same number of gears as the stock transmission, unless the stock transmission has less than 5 gears, in which case it will have 5 like the street transmission.

Drivetrain swaps also swap out the transmission. They are usually swapped out for a 6 speed race transmission, which is why you won’t see it as an upgrade option.

You can push out gears or the final drive in order to make an effective 5 speed. Each extra gear weighs 2kg according to PGGs, which is nothing considering you can usually take out hundreds of kilos out of your car using the power of magic.

The things about the game such as the transmission and the but(t) gears and suspension settings and their relationship to real world setups really demonstrates how little the game developers actually know about cars.
