Forza is an easy to access near-sim that offers a very authentic experience while still being easy to play with a gamepad. In other words, it’s a great console racer. If I wanted a pure simulation, I’d go elsewhere. But with Forza that’s not what I want.
Forzatography. It’s what I look forward to most every time I buy a new Forza game. Taking photos in Forza is what inspired me to get a camera and start shooting IRL.
I’m a very casual player, I play tag most of the time, there I can pick whatever car I want that in A class, so to me, I love that they add these funny SUVS, (they kind of need to stop now, lol) if racing in multiplayer would git gud, I’d play circuit alot more
Forza used to be a great painting/trading game as well as a racing game, but that’s much less so now. When I first really got into Forza after playing casually for a year or so I had just been diagnosed with what has turned out to be a permanent condition. So I spent a lot of time laid up playing the game and on the forums. I raced in a BTCC championship in my early days and was still learning racecraft, etiquette all of those things, and the guys I raced with were brilliant. I learned a lot from them, but then I became ill and my racing ability started to diminish. So i got into painting and helping people on the forums. In those days you could still gifts credits and paints so it was easy to help people. if there save was corrupted or they had their xbox stolen it was easy to throw them some cars and credits and help them out. Now all that’s gone Forza is just a racing game with a fancy livery editor. Which means that people are focusing on the racing side more than ever, thinking it’s meant to be more serious than I think it actually is meant to be. Forza was always about “Turning Gamers into car lovers and car lovers into gamers” To quote Dan Greenawalt. It was always meant to be a braod canvas to enjoy how you saw fit. But certain aspects of the game were removed to fix one problem and caused others.
Now it’s just racing with basic idiot filled hoppers and ludicrous cars that they use. Now i’m not saying those cars should be removed. I love drifting the limo around the Alps. What i’m saying is the idiots who used to steal paints and mess with the economy, now mess with the online hoppers. To do so they use cars like the limo or the SUV’s because they’re good to annoy people with. Which is where the racing purists come in. Because everyone who used to be in other parts of the game making a nuisance of themselves are now all in the racing part doing the same it’s focused all of the issues in the only part of the game left.
If there was a better way to get rid of these people it wouldn’t be such an issue. However Turn 10 always over-react to issues and go too far (Which is why credits are now too easy to get, and there’s no storefront), but on the other hand can never seem to see what those actions are likely to cause.
This is why the community (what’s left of it) has taken to diametrically opposed positions. One group want racing purity focused sim, the other group want to mess about. But there seems to be no way to separate them online. Now there are people who exist between either group, but the second you take a position even slightly either side of that line you are subsumed by that group and your opinion is attributed to that side. You then end up agreeing with those people, and we end up with two oppositional groups.
I think opposition is good to be honest. It gets you to see other points of view. But while we’re all busy debating which position is the right one (both are), Turn 10 is busy decimating the carcass of this franchise. If we could all take a common unified position towards the devs and say we’d like this, this and this or we’ll not buy any more of your games and actually stick to it, we’ll never get anything close to what we want.
I mean this is why Horizon was born for the more casual people. To keep Motorsport for the more serious, but people who’ve only played Horizon come over to Motorsport expecting the same game.
if it has tires and moves, ill race it
