A Message to the Motorsport Community - January 2024

I haven’t played for weeks and this news will keep me with an ear out for the fix and when they do implement it, I and my kid will likely be back playing. My kids 11 and his friends will play if he does just like he plays games they like to try. They can bring some people back.

Well that was totally lame.

Good to see that Turn 10 has been paying attention. Hopefully AI, Car Progression and can be fixed sooner rather than later. Also could they at least toss us a proximity radar?

They’ve also kind of admitted to another lie to us pre release. The AI has machine learning. Doesn’t that mean it would actually learn and get better over time? They knew it was broken and was no surprise to them. With regards to the lvl system, fair enough, they tried something new and messed up, sometimes that happens trying to innovate. Not smart but fair play for acknowledging it needs addressing.

The FRR, also an AI seems to be pretty much the same, if not worse than the system originally introduced in the mid life cycle update of F7. Despite the exponential growth of AI tech in the last 4-5 years, of which MS is right at the cutting edge and leading tech companies in the world.

That letter even reads like a ChatGPT command with instruction to acknowledge we’re listening but avoid being contrite in any way.

So it will be months before we can expect changes. Nah, I got no time for that. The ship has sailed.

Any earlier admission of these issues would have resulted in them not winning racing/sports game of the year I feel. There’s no way a developer could have admitted this before the game awards
And still won, reeks of convenient timing to me, they’ve already lost me as a player, too much of a grind, too many more issues than the ones they have identified, while I applaud them for their statement in theory, for me it’s too little and far too late.

I agree with this. I don’t mind some work but the progress system is too much of a grind for me. I have looked at a lot of cars I’d like to build but am held back by the hours required to build them.

Thankfully I didn’t buy this game. I played smart and played it on gamepass instead. Imo it’s not worth the triple a pricing. Sorry T10, you guys dropped the ball on this one and hard. The game has been an absolute mess since launch. Between the CarPG system and FOMO tactics it’s hard to enjoy the game. I don’t mind a little bit of work but if I wanted to grind like I was on Destiny I would simply load that game up instead. The car system in the old Motorsport games were fine and didn’t need overhauled. All I wanted and what I’ve seen most people suggest was an upgraded game with some more content. (Different upgrades, custom lobbies, etc.) I’m not sure if you guys even looked at the game suggestions posts. The core of the game is not bad atleast. The physics are good and it seems the graphics have improved since launch but the game is so far from a triple a state it’s hard to imagine this game surviving into the future. I hope I’m wrong here. I don’t blame the devs themselves but those in charge really need to evaluate their vision for this franchise going forward. Because if you don’t, well, the future of this series doesn’t look bright.

No apology.
No admission of guilt.
Doing the bare minimum at the slowest possible speed.
No accountability from directors that they helmed such poor design decisions.
No apology for 3 months radio silence.
No basic patches to fix the millions of bugs outside of their monthly release schedule.

Uninstalled thanks for stealing my money.

You realize they said they would do this quarterly yeah. That means youll hear from them 3 more times in the next 11 months.

You realize they also do update articles and release notes for every update. That means you’l hear from them atleast every month.
It may not be as in-depth but they still discuss problems and such besides mentioning the coming content.
Update 3.0 release notes
Update 3.0 article

They said quarterly, which means 4. These announcements are likely their form of a roadmap meaning plans to do things. The content updates are things that are actually done or bugs that might be fixed, and as far as im concerned have offered little if any useful information.

Promises are free to hand out - what have they actually done?

Does the game work as advertised on PC? NO
Have they fixed any bugs? NO

They’ve committed to nothing tangible. They’ve done nothing Tangible. They’ve owned up to nothing.

*edit
Forgive me for being so negative but I’m not going to congratulate T10 for discovering player feedback.

Three months late, and honestly not a lot of commitment in those words. I don’t think quarterly updates are enough either, we’ll see how that shapes out.

I’m not overly optimistic regarding the progression system. It sounds like they still think it’s a fundamentally good idea. I think it needs to be either chucked out wholesale, or radically changed as outlined here: no unlocks, just credits, CP only as event restriction in career.

So it seems Microsoft Game Studios/T10 won’t go the Anthem route and will be trying to fix this trainwreck - for now.

AI and FRR overhauls will take a lot of time and it’s clear they shipped the game wholeheartly knowing this will be coming.

But I don’t understand the estimated “months” time frame for carxp adjustments. We have a poll here with 70/30 voting from over 1000 players. Players invested enough to come to the Forums in the first place - the players that will keep this game alive.
The message is clear. Yet they will stick with the system. Then simply add an optional xp-multiplier slider from 1 - 4 or 5. That shouldn’t be a monumental task and they can read out the data afterwards to see where players set it and get reliable feedback on it.

Fixing CarXP should not take months. If it is going to, then an assurance should be given that all cars released in the interim will not be time-locked so that players can choose to await the fixes and then obtain them in their own time. That would demonstrate some real intention to put things right.

Just get rid of leveling the cars, or get rid of rivals. That easy they don’t work together at all played since Forza 3 and this nonsense has ruined the fun of pick a car, build, tune and run, then try another car. This was possible to do in an eve session but now I would take days, least fun to be had on xbox right now

I was thinking this has to be a different dev team to previous forzas as they got the formula so wrong

Bla bla bla again !

Hey Turn10, you are facing an emergency situation…(since months already) and still continue (…start should i say) speaking “quarterly”?..“months”?..again, you’re not using the right timescale…
You should speak in weeks if you really want to save your “ship”…
If ever still feasable or usefull seeing it’s current status…

YOU conscensiously decided to launch the ship with a hole in the hull…so don’t be surprised if water drags it to the bottom…

Speed up guys (not for me anymore…) while truely/carefully listen to community feedback…only this will demonstrate that you still have respect to your customers …nothing else…

You`ve obviously been around on this forum for a while, whilst ive played the original FM,FM3,4,5 and 7 ive never really bothered with forums very much. This is the first xbox related forum ive taken part in,question to you.Do you think they will remove the levelling up system totally or would that involve a whole new game mechanic?
Are they likely to continue support or after car pass expires will they drop the game, surely thats not something thats likely is it?Im hoping not but i dont know how devs work.
