We’re happy with the graphics we want game play and as they can’t provide that were stuck with corner cutters and demolition derby’s to make a racing game you need rules or at least put those stop strips where the shortcuts are and a little triangle next to there time will never deter anyone from cutting
The last forza I played was 4 on the 360 used to have great racing back then now it’s dead and ruled by cheaters
Reading all the reviews about the games since then it is a repeated pattern they make a game that looks good make money to play with expensive toys in there office car park and this is why under the new consumer right laws about game developers not sorting issues you can now get a full refund I know within 30 days of purchase a bit late for most but just got full refund for horizon and call of duty infinite warfare and ultimate warfare the law recognises there’s a major issue with developers taking our money and never fix anything
If anyone does get forza 7 and it’s the same I strongly urge you to get a full refund take your hard earnt money back from there deep pockets I’m sick of developers getting away with this and splash all over Facebook all the cars there playing with instead of working on the game
It’s honestly quite funny that this was posted today, as I just got Xbox Live Gold for the first time only yesterday and guess what? I know exactly what you guys are talking about now. I was indeed expecting your average troll who considered braking an after thought, but I did not expect it to be this bad…
First lobby I entered was one where everybody is forced to race in the same car, as I was scrolling through the list of players I kept seeing people at level 400. As this was my first experience in an online lobby with this game (and generally seeing others in game profiles too), I just assumed they must be really good players. I was proved wrong fairly quick. At the beginning, the majority of ‘racers’ just flew straight into the first wall. Coming from FM4 and 5, I realized after returning to the lobby that there isn’t a way to kick/vote to kick specific players from public lobbies. The ‘community’ this studio boasts about having is fading away fast, and unsportsmanlike players will continue to populate these online lobbies unless something is done by the time the next game releases.
Sorry if that was a bit much, but I truly realize what others speak of now… Let’s hope they someone within Turn 10 has a moment of enlightenment by the time FM7 releases, but unfortunately, (so far) it’s primary goal comes across as being a graphics showcase for Scorpio.
What a damming thread towards t10. Completly agree with all the comments. But credit where credit is due:
Spectator mode update
Being able to change tune without being disconnected
Banning the troll cars
Modern gt hopper
Cycled production hopper
These are just a few things t10 have added or fixed after the release of the game alot of which was asked for by the community.
Personally I feel t10 are so out of touch with the community and care far more about the look or rep of the game. It matters nothing that the games rep is in tatters with its real fans or that we as fans would happily sacrifice the visuals for a game that focused on stopping the trolls and creating a safer environment to race in.
With the recent catalogue of forzaRC blunders and string of bad choices made by t10 I feel completly alienated from the game. FOr such a die hard player like myself this is sad times in deed.
All I can surgest is that everyone keeps complaining. Vote with your feet and get your point across. T10 listen if the pressure is pilled on its the only way. Public media particulary twitter seems to be what there most scared off.
I bought a cheap X360 this weekend along with copies of FMS4 plus Grid Autosport (a game i have never owned) and had an exceptional racing weekend with both titles. The only disappointing thing was that it made me realise just how ordinary Forza has become on current gen consoles and that’s kinda sad considering how important the franchise has been (and still should be) to XBox racers.
Turn 10 obviously have a vision of how they best want to take the game forward and you know, it’s their investment so they have every right to take Forza in any direction they choose without community influence - but you have to question the cost of doing so. For many years various developers adopted a similar policy of completely disregarding what fans thought was great about the Call of Duty franchise, instead choosing to take the whole COD bandwagon down a path that they ‘thought’ would be the better option - a direction that everyone knows the outcome and subsequent backtracking of.
OK so Forza will always be Forza but Turn 10 have to realise that other games will come along with offerings that racers crave and all of a sudden that complacent attitude might just backfire.
Turn 10 got lucky in the fact that Project Cars didn’t quite make the grade, Assetto Corsa is just plain horrible and Codemasters for the time being have completely forgotten how to make decent racing games but that will all change.
I don’t particularly want to remember Forza as a just another game packed to the rafters with overpriced DLC (to offset lower core sales?) but when you consider that FM6 in it’s entirity costs more than retail copies of Forza’s 1-4 COMBINED then Turn 10 are kinda making it difficult for me not to do so.
It kinda feels like we are having the same argument every other year though.
What is going to change this time around?
Will FRC bring a more serious player market back to the game, or is it just there to portray itself as serious about racing?
There has got to be a way to separate the 2-3 types of audience in the game. Racers do not want to play with crashers, seems like the biggest issue the game has.
Out of boredom I started playing Forza 3 and Forza 4 - I missed some of the tracks. What I really noticed was that there are less and less people playig Forza with each release.
I have some top 100 times in Forza 6, but even if I set new times in Forza 3 and 4 I am still way, WAY down on the leaderboards. There are literally nearly a million players on the leaderboards in those older versions of Forza, and only a small percentage of them playing Forza 6. Not only was this humbling to me (I am apparently NOT that fast), but eye opening. The fast players have moved on to better games.
What this shows to me is that a greater percentage of people playing Forze WERE actually more interested in the racing aspect of the game, and not the demolition derby, grade school wreckfest that each subsequent versions of the game has garnered. The good players got tired the wreckers and grievers being coddled by a broken system, and left behind a higher and higher percentage of immature, clueless bullies.
If Turn10 were serious about making money they would attempt to get these players back with stricter policing of their servers, more admins with the ability to ban the people who are obviously only interested in making everyone miserable and generating a culture more serious about real racing between people with a true grasp of the concept of sportsmanship - not this hybrid, Horizon\GTA mish-mash of ridiculous cars and flabby rule sets that coddle and protect people ruining the fun for other players.
I think a license would be a good idea for Forza 7 where as you start with a rookie license and the more you race without penalties the higher the license you get and if you get to the pro license and decide to smash people off the track on purpose you have your license demoted back to rookie. this would be good for everyone Esp, tho who want to race clean and have some close action without the worry of being hit off at every corner.
I love all the forza titles i think turn 10 do a very good job, just need Forza 7 to be more of a sim and leave the arcade to the horizon titles.
I’m kind of screwed when it comes to online racing. I like to race clean but I’m not fast enough to compete with good drivers (usually bottom third in club races). I am a moderate racer but I don’t want to get smashed up by people who don’t know how to play in public lobbies. It’s crazy how many players have no clue out there. I’ve had modern GT races with mandatory stops where a half the cars waste each other on the first corner (allowing me to pass, hehe) and then a third of the field never bothers to pit and then gets DNFs at the end.
I know FM6 has its faults but to me its the best Forza game. The only things missing are the slowing surfaces around the track, the auction house, and the storefront. The career mode is much better (again in my opinion) than FM4 even though the map thing was kinda cool. In the end I plan on getting FM7 because I have the most fun in Forza games. Go figure, playing a game because it’s the most enjoyable.
vs. PC2. I downloaded PC1 when it was free on Gold and played it for the first weekend with a guy from work. After that I haven’t touched it. The handling as many have said is off the charts awful and this is even with all the controller settings and tweaks I can find. I tried the Clio Cup assuming that these low powered cars would be easy to handle, but no, the slightest touch and they boomerang off the track. It’s not fun watching the NPCs take a perfect racing conga line while you tip-toe around the track near last place just to keep the car on pavement. I’m sure wheel racing is nice but my wheel is for the 360 and the game should at least be playable with a controller. The weather system in PC2 looks really cool but it will take very good reviews and a sale price to get me on board.
vs. Assetto Corsa. AC is presumably the best “sim” out there. I can’t say much personally because I haven’t actually played this one. Reviews are bad for some reason. This is another game where a racing wheel probably makes all the difference. Problem is if I were to buy a super expansive Fanatec wheel or similar, my wife would flip out. So for the time being I’m stuck with controller. Not sure if AC2 is to be released this year but by the time PC2 and FM7 hit, AC will seem quite dated.
vs. Dirt 4. Don’t let my assessment of the last two games make you thing I’m afraid of difficult games. Dirt Rally is very hard but it’s also completely freaking awesome. Dirt 4 is a game I will give some serious though to especially with its new create a track feature that lets you make your own rally stages. I still have a ton of content to play through on Dirt Rally so I don’t really feel the need to pick this one up at launch. It would be a mistake not to add it to my collection at some point though.
Gran Turismo Sport is the game I am looking at at the moment. I really like what they are doing with their overall Multiplayer philosophy and if they can iron out the technical issues that have sprung up in the Closed Beta they might be on to something special.
Forza’s my favorite racing franchise, but as good as the base game is Public Multiplayer racing isn’t as enjoyable as it was in the days of Forza Motorsport 4, and without that key element the games aren’t “grabbing” me as much as they used to.
We can’t do anything now to influence Forza Motorsport 7 (the time for that was several months ago; I’ve made my thoughts known in all the usual places). All we can do is wait, see what gets revealed and decide if we should spend our time here or elsewhere.
I’ve always been against CPL’s and the tactical kick voting system that went on within these lobbies but after witnessing the rapid demise of the matchmaking system of current Forza’s i perhaps now understand how important the ‘kick’ option was - and how it made the online racing experience of F4 so much better. Remembering the odd occasion you happened to be kicked for being too fast or drove a car that wasn’t to somebody’s liking (Chevvy Spark, cough) sometimes paints over the thousands of other great races you had and were never kicked. So yeah, it took a while but i get it now.
For me Forza 7 is a worry and i can’t help but feel that now that it’s returned in FH3, some jolly excited American chap is going to jump up on stage with the soul intention of telling the world how they’ve ‘‘listened to fans’’ and the ‘‘much loved’’ marketplace is returning to For(t)za motorsport 7 - and nothing else. If the game does launch as a benchmark title for Scorpio then much like Forza 5’s 1080/60fps, emphasis will lean heavilly towards 4k visuals. The whole sub 20 year old community will be ‘‘pumped’’ and ‘‘hyped’’ about driving 600 cars around exactly the same tracks and everything will once more be ok in the rose tinted kingdom of Turn 10.
To be honest up until recently i’ve not paid too much attention to GTS but now that the release is getting ever closer it’s caught my eye an awful lot more over the past few weeks and as you quite correctly point out this could be something very special indeed. Throw in a (presumably) superior quality version of PCars 2 into the mix and you have to wonder how many gamers are going to ditch Forza (and possibly XB1) in favour of PS4 alternatives.
As a neutral with no console allegiance i’m genuinely looking forward to this potentially new freedom of choice.
Well, personally speaking, I’m never ditching my Xbox One for a Playstation - I have seen a ton of GTS vids; while it is visually stunning as always, the physics still seem to linear and capped, and they haven’t really done much to make the cars sound like actual cars. However, if they continue to recycle too many of the same tracks in FM7 and focus on too many cars and not enough emphasis on audio and physics nuances as well as overall quality, I may just end up with CARS2. Time will tell. What’s interesting to see is how T10 will bridge the gap between the Xbox One and Scorpio version. Way to go MS, for releasing a more powerful mid-generation console. Maybe you should have made the X-One more powerful to begin with? In my humble opinion, however, I believe it is powerful enough for quality gaming.
I am on the fence at the moment with regards to FM7. Quite honestly I need better force feedback, custom public lobbies, and longer career races. I may have managed with FM6 and the poor FFB with it, but I do not think I have it in me to do so again, not when I play Assetto on the PC (and other racing titles). The real nail in the coffin for me is how bad multiplayer is now in Forza Motorsport, not to mention just how bad the wheel implementation was in FH3 at the start. They may have sorted that to a point, and it is vastly better than it was in the beginning, but the entire FFB system for FM/FH needs an overhaul.
I have always bought every Forza game on release date, and sad to say, but I am now at the point where I do not think I can justify spending so much money on a franchise that brings disappointment from the moment I first start the game up.
If you are going to give out that sort of comment about Microsoft releasing a more powerful console mid generation, shouldn’t you also temper it with the same sort of comment towards the PS4 and the PS4 Pro. The latter been a more powerful mid-generation console that released last year.
I’m sure physics will also be improved for the final game. This is a closed beta, people suggest changes in a dedicated forum.
I will definitely buy Chronusmax to use my Logitech G920 with Gran Turismo Sport. For now I play with the dualshock 4 and the steering is so darn precise thanks to the long range of the thumbsticks.
I had the opposite experience though. In Project Cars the handling was so bad I completely stopped playing and will probably delete it eventually. I never played that one online because the base game mechanics with a controller were so bad, and I tried many setups I found online. Even slow cars wouldn’t stay on track unless you tiptoed around.
To be perfectly fair with SMS a lot of work has gone on under the bonnet of PCars and even though a huge chunk of the cars need an awful lot of tuning just to keep them on the road with a default XB1 controller there are actually a fair few vehicle classes that drive pretty well without the need to endlessly fiddle around. It’s just a shame that those who remember the bad old days (they were bad) and wiped their hands with the whole Project Cars thing will never see how, with the help of an awful lot of tweaks and fixes, it’s evolved into something considerably better than it initially was - including the handling. Admittedly, nowadays my PCars experience is essentially GT3 exclusive but the perks of a fresh selection of circuits along with fully customisable race setups and insanely cheap DLC more than compensate for it’s shortcomings when placed alongside the likes of Forza, so i suppose i can live with the occasional need to spend time experimenting with controller tweaking.
But love the game or hate it, at the end of the day SMS did one thing that Turn 10 have never done - they listened to the community in order to improve on what they had. If it could be put right, added, removed or tweaked then it was - and part of that listening process resulted in a complete overhaul of multiplayer including the introduction of CPL’s and host kicking (any time during the event). If a company with a tight budget can implement such changes to ensure that those who want to enjoy an occasional competitive online race can do so, then i fail to see how Turn 10 can’t do exactly the same thing.
It shouldn’t always be about charging £16.99 (with a few cars) when adding bits of game to enhance the experience…
Quoting for truth. I didn’t play PCars when it first released, but saw some videos on it around that time. It looked like a mess. I picked it up recently when it became free with Gold, and had a blast, I can easily tell that they’ve worked hard to fix the issues and add new things. On top of that, with PCars 2 they’re adding a whole host of new features and events without tacking it on at a later date as DLC. To me they’re becoming what Forza used to be, people who enjoyed making games, put their heart and soul into making them, listening to the community and adding features that they actually want without using the game as a “front” for selling endless DLC. I’ve mentioned it previously in the thread, I may be using games other than Forza for my racing fix this year.
I also got the game free with Gold and had a completely different experience. The handling was still awful. I’ve never had this experience in any Forza game, any Formula 1 game, or in Dirt Rally. This is unique to Project Cars. It should be usable out of the box without having to look up 40 different controller setups to find something remotely useable. The new weather system they got going looks cool but if the game is virtually unplayable for me, what’s the point? So unless FM7 completely drops the ball, I’ll b getting FM7 over PC (but will probably also get Dirt 4).
I for one will never even think about buying another game that Ian Bell has a hand in. I can handle a broken game that eventually gets fixed and would have been interested in the hopefully more polished Pcars 2, but Ian Bell ruined that. The way he trolled his own forums and tried to belittle people that had 100% legit problems and had expressed their problems in a respectful manor was completely pathetic for the head of a studio or any company for that matter. I saw him say he would give people refunds out of his own pocket if PMd with proof of purchase just to tell the people afterwards they are up a creek without a paddle and he’s got their money in his pocket.
I’ve never seen someone be so disrespectful to their paying customers and we’re not just talking about 1-2 people, I saw him troll 50-100 people. Thankfully MS store was nice enough to refund digital copies of the game because it was still so broken after 3+ patches.
So as much as they may have listened to the community they also alienated a bunch of “would be buyers” to the point they no longer have any interest in anything SMS has a hand in.
I bought my first console in dicember, a xbox one elite after i had the chance to play FH3 in my pc just to play FM6. I really like racong simulators, i have this passion since Nascar 2003, but after i got FM6 i stopped play assetto corsa and also project cars. Not because i had problems with controllers: I use a G920 but because i found so funny, instead of a apure boring race simulator we have a lot more things we can do like change parts of the car and make a more personalized build. Other than that there is the multiplayer… I know it’s not the best multiplayer but i like it more than the multiplayer of the 2 acclaimed titles like AC and Pcars. Last but not least i find FM6 to be a simcade not a simulator like the other 2, well you can’t really compare…
At this point i think there is no reason for crying on this forum if this game is not a simulator like AC or Pcars cause if you want a simulator there are other games. I didn’t go in AC or Pcars forum to cry if i can’t swap Engine, i just moved on…
I’m sorry for my bad English, i’m italian and i hope you can understand my pov.
The 1 thing the forza franchise gets right is its abilty to be a game for everyone. Other xbox titles always struggle to attract the number of players to be any sort of compitition. The biggest contributing factor to this is controller support with content being a close second.
I’m sure gran tourismo could be better it would be very interesting if both titles were on the same console. I think t10 would have a run for its money
