I’d say Forza can be great on a wheel. I’d compare the feel to RaceRoom and AMS2, both games i have significant time in. The problem for Forza is the amount of FFB tweaking and tuning required to get there, where as those games have it out of the box.
Interesting take. I can agree that Forza does approach what RaceRoom does in a lot of aspects, it just falls short of matching the sim’s nuances when it comes to tire detail and limits on grip. Saying its comparable to AMS2? I now have to fire up the sim and see how similar it is. I admit, its been a while since I ran AMS2. Steam says I last touched it on the 29th of March.
Firing it up in a moment…
The out of the box experience is nothing like them. It’s why I have a FFB and tuning videos, because to get the cars to behave like you would expect in a sim requires getting both right.
I think its the best its ever felt in forza, but yes it does require a lot of tuning. Gt sport and gt7s ffb is more barebones than forzas, but you can literally just plug in a wheel and play. Thats why i said it feels natural, not natural in the sense of realism as theres not much info, but theres enough to know whats going on and you can trust that nothing crazy will happen.
Turn 10 went the pcars route with ffb, having too many adjustable settings, which slightly mad fixed in pcars 2. So while you can find something you like, to me at least, it feels like theres something i should tweak to make it feel better instead of just sticking with what works.
100% its a step in the right direction as it is definitely an improvement from fm7s patched version, because fm7s ffb wasnt great at launch. Ffb is very subjective, but there needs to be a better base setup, it definitely threw a lot of people off.
This what I use. I did raise Road Feel to 20 when I switched from the CSL Elite belt wheel to the Clubsport DD. I feel like if this was the default with higher road feel and load sensitivity (I keep those low to not affect my steering), people would have loved wheel more. That being said, adjusting Individual car FFB and center rolls in tuning makes a massive difference in making a car feel right, so FFb alone wouldn’t be enough. The default tunes are just trash on a wheel.
I watched youre videos you did a good job explaining this mess. The default tunes arent great and are often nonsensical. I find this game to be quite strange because for a franchise always trying to set the bar so low for newcomers, they make things like this so convoluted and overly complicated even for veterans to deal with at times.
Youd think by now theyd be able to create a better baseline for individual wheels or at least type. More people use them in this game than ever and im sure they know what settings theyre using.
I got to check your videos out then. Your settings are quite different than what I settled on. Perhaps I’d get more feel out of my CSL DD.
I found you…Subscribed.
This is just inhuman…these are all our cars…1st u will take a huge amount of money n now u are telling us to play ur game for days just for only one car…like seriously, 32 races for god da*n car??what do u think of us?? we don’t have anything else to do…we have already paid for these cars…just give us our cars…add all these fomo cars to the autoshow…we haven’t paid that huge amount of money so that u can play with us…bloody hell!!!
I changed my CSL DD to this. Definitely a huge improvement over my settings. I now have to get a car tuned up to see how close to AMS 2 it can get. I can now feel the cars tendencies to understeer. Once I get the hang of how to tune (Your videos are very helpful) I am sure I’ll be able to steer with the rear tires, like I can in AMS2.
My main gripe with Career mode is how many seasonal events only let you select one car. I get wanting to showcase a specific vehicle, but I guess I just prefer having a good selection of related cars to choose from if I’m not particularly fond of the car being featured.
I wont be doing the tours this time around, I dont have a lot of time between work and familly stuff so I will just do the open class races for the GTR. The open class gives me a choice to use cars ive not used yet, they might be only 3 race long but the choices are endless. Hopefully the Aston Martin might turn up in a future tour, if not hey ho.
The amount of races is really annoying!
I really want the Aston, I love the car, but 32 races is just so much.
The multiclass races are so much fun (besides the end of race timer). But to play both online and career mode to unlock the Aston GTE before it disappears (no one knows if it’ll return, great communication T10…), I just don’t have that amount of free time…
I still don’t know if I can bring myself to do the races.
Why did they have to double the amount of races?
Same here. I’d like to try multi-class races in Featured Multiplayer but I have so much “work” to do in the career mode that I can’t afford spending my little free time anywhere else.
T10 really should think about alternative ways to unlock reward cars, allowing players to get all new content by playing the game the way they enjoy most (singleplayer, multiplayer, Rivals, maybe even via free play).
A pair of pro tips that may help some of the time-challenged:
- You don’t need to win any of the races or series
- You can use the full assists to have the AI race those series for you.
So, as long as you’re around your console enough to occasionally progress menus, wake up a controller, or pass the ‘Are you there?’ test, you can knock these off as you accomplish other tasks.
thanks but, this is not my idea of fun, not something i’ve ever done in my gaming history. for those it works for, enjoy!!
It’s like they are actively trying to kill the game. Seems intentional at this point.
Perfectly fair comment! It is lame to have to resort to something like this.
If Turn10 aren’t trying why should we
It’s almost like they made a game that can play itself to boost its own “eNgAgEmEnT” metrics… like an automated click farm.
