I would like to know if FH4 is going to be compatible with Xbox one s.
If you look at the Windows Store you’ll see that Forza Horizon 4 is “Available On” both “Xbox One” and “PC.” Xbox One is a universal system architecture; all games for the Xbox One work on the original console, One S, and One X.
“All Xbox One games, accessories and Xbox Live services will work with the new Xbox One S.”^
“The Xbox One games and accessories you already own are compatible with Xbox One X.”^
You can use the same physical disc and play it in any Xbox One system console, and if you own a digital version you can download it to any Xbox One system console as well. A single gamesave is stored on the Cloud, and works with any of the Xbox One consoles. Since FH4 is a Play Anywhere title, it will also install in capable Windows 10 PCs. The game is the same on each console, with display differences:
Xbox One (original): Plays at 30fps 1080p. No HDR, no 4K assets.
Xbox One S: Plays at 30fps 1080p. HDR enabled for compatible monitors/PCs.
Xbox One X: Plays at 30fps 4K (works on 1080p tvs too) with the option to play at 60fps on a lower resolution. HDR enabled for compatible monitors/PCs.
If you transfer your data from an Xbox One S to a One X, you’ll get a content update with 4K assets for free.
I was at E3 Nova theater when they talked about FH4 and they said that 60 fps will be available on the Xbox One X in 1080p resolution, which I would take the 60fps 1080p vs the 30fps 4k any day for racing.
With the right PC setup you could get 60 fps in 4k, or even higher FPS in lower resolution’s. Ultrawide is available in FH3 and FM7 on PC as well, so I would think/hope that would continue with FH4.
I know someone who gets 140 fps in Ultrawide 1080p for FH3 with a 1080ti and a i7 8086k. I get 90 to 100 fps on standard 1080p with Ryzen 1700x and Vega 56. These are for Highest graphics settings, which you can adjust on a PC vs an Xbox. You can get higher FPS by dialing down graphics settings as well.
I would like to know the difference between the xbox one and one x. Im currently on the standard console but may upgrade if there is a big difference in quality. Have they had to cut any features for the one? The 60fps is tempting me but i am looking forward to seeing the comparison first.
I’ve traded up from XB1 to 1S to 1X. You can even see a difference between 1S and 1X. I prefer the X. So the load times, fps, colors, crisp picture BUT the biggest difference to me is in load times with offline play
Forza Horizon 4 also these incredible graphics in the common XBox One? Or will it only be in XBox One X?
Hi everybody!
I heard yesterday during the stream that the shadow casting lights are a feature of the xbox one x. Dose this means that there will be some features not available on the basic xbox one?
I didn’t catch the stream but sounds like a purely graphical thing. The X already has graphically enhanced versions of some of the earlier Forza titles but no additional gameplay mechanics/ features, so you should be fine.
DamMe is right. As far as content, gameplay and game features and functionality … all XBox One games are identical whether played on a One, a One S or a One X. The only differences between the consoles are graphical enhancements or improvements, higher quality textures and/or better performance options (framerate options).
Thanks! I wonder if deformable mud and snow are X only too?
No … they’re part of the game content and not a visual upgrade or performance enhancement. All content is identical across platforms.
They revealed in the spring livestream that the One X has superior lighting dynamics. So far I think we have only seen gameplay from the One X
It’s an Xbox One game. Of course it will play on a One S. All the systems are the same except for processing power and the GPU.
I used to worry about this too, literally only ever had an Xbox for Forza since Motorsport 3.
Now that current Forza titles all seem to be PC also, I’ve sold the Xbox and will never need one again, the quality of PC gaming is so far superior to even an Xbox One X, I don’t understand why they haven’t made consoles equal to even a medium spec PC that can play Forza games at 75+ FPS @ 1080p with all graphics options on max settings
The reason that consoles aren’t being built to match high-end PCs in terms of visuals and performance is simply the price point. Consoles … even the One X … can be had for less than $500. Why would you expect a $500 console to be comparable to a $1500-2500 high-end gaming PC? That’s just not realistic. That’s like asking a $30,000 Camaro to compete with a $300,000 Lamborghini.
According to most analyses, reviews and tests over the last year or so, the One X is easily comparable to the mid-level PCs you mention in terms of performance because of technologies and customizations on it that simply can’t be used on PCs. Console performance is improving and the gap is closing.
PC graphics cards is a fast changing thing. By the time they finish a new console PC graphics have already leapt past whatever was available at the time the console began development. I’m sure price is also a factor since high end cards can cost well over $1000.
Im considering getting an Xbox X, inspired by this game. It does seem a bit overkill to get one basically to get fancy shadows… but the 60 fps racing really does pull me in too.
I’d have a few other games that would benefit as well.
Im kinda torn. The hype is getting to me
Im looking to upgrade my tv anyway so an X to go with it (and FH4!) would be nice.
All your games would benefit. It’s simply better looking, smoother running and faster than anything else out right now. And if you add a 4K/HDR TV to the mix … it also has a 4K UHD HDR Bluray player … something the PS4 Pro doesn’t have.
Hi,
we have only seen gameplay on the new xbox one x 4k so far.
as i cant afford to purchase the xb1x or a 4k tv i was wondering what performance we will see on the standard xbox1 at 1080p.
is there better graphics/detail or are we expecting the same level of detail as horizon 3
is there better performance with load times(not that it was bad anyway)
really looking forward to horizon 4, put in hundreds of hours across the whole forza series, Motorsport and Horizon.
keep up the amazing work.
thank,
Billy
For those thinking about getting a one x, Microsoft has a preorder one x bundle that includes fh4 and fm7, for 499, scheduled to arrive if you pre order, by October 2nd.
