Because, just like previous Forza titles - the ‘Marketplace’ is just an in-game feature for purchasing DLC. Plus, the Creative Director Dan Greenawalt made it clear at E3 that Auction House was not returning in Forza 5 (assuming that’s what you thought ‘Marketplace’ meant).
Yeah, it would be nice to get some use out of it. Right now my surface is just used as a glorified keyboard for supplying descriptions of shared paints and for writing apologies to people I accidently hit but they can’t hear me in chat.
Would be great to see it used to sort your paint designs, get information about who and which were downloaded. A full list of tunes for a car so you can quickly decide which tune is best for a track. So much more.
Totally agree … I have limited time at home to play, so when I put Forza 5 in, it’s to drive. I don’t know how to tune or paint, so porting the tuning or painting to a Forza app inside SmartGlass would be great, as I could play with these at other times - and all our cars, etc., should be saved “in the cloud”, hence accessible from a Surface, so I can play with a tune on the Metro, and try it out when I got home. Also, track maps would be nice, along with being able to watch someone else’s lap via leaderboards, much like viewing game clips in the SmartGlass app right now.
I’m pretty much just using \smartGlass as a keyboatd - a bit of a waste considering how much it was marketed. I would have thought a racing game would be ideal to make use of a mobile device, just like the PC sims do. But still early days I guess.
I never thought to use it for keyboard input. I must try that now. Otherwise, I agree that it’s a bullet point that has a lot of untapped potential for some games. Oh well. I never expected much support for it honestly.
If they used it for telemetry and such I would love to see some data logging for the use of improving tunes. just a thought as a highly competitive forza racer.
I’d love to see smartglass include an option to show HUD elements that might normally be on the screen.
It could show speedo, tach, gear, the track map, your place in the race along with lap times and much more. During a replay it could show telemetry or other info. It’s a lot more limited than it needs to be.
Do you know if Turn 10 has any plans for adding Smartglass support for Forza 5?
Wouldn’t it be awesome to be able to do Tuning and setup for your cars when you are away from your XB1?
Even creating custom paint jobs would be so much easier on smartglass.
Things like paint jobs, tuning can be done on the go… Utilize every second you have in front of console, driving the cars
I was quite surprised to see that there is no Smartglass support while Forza Horizon had one… (I know it was developed by Playground studios)
I was initially suprised that there was not going to be day /night transitions when Hoizon had it as well. But as Dan G. said, it was a matter of time constraints. I doubt turn 10 could allocate time and resources for the smartglass development and still make the lauch date of xbox one. I hope when FM6 is released the developer has time to develop day / night transitions, dynamic weather, anmiated pit stops, add many of the race cars and tracks that didn’t make it back into FM5, and a good smartglass app. It sounds like a lot though…
I’m sure your request is already voiced in the features wishlist thread, but if you haven’t already added this there yourself, I would recommend doing so. It would serve to add your voice in as yet another person requesting this feature… It may help.
