Smartglass Feature..?

I was just thinking about this and I think it would be cool if it was possible.

Okay so I know Forza doesn’t have smart glass companion yet, but if they did I think it would be cool if you could have the cars gauges or whatever you wanted to display, on your phone or tablet/ipad. It would be cool for the guys that have a rig set-up.

What do you guys think?

Althgough it sounds cool I would find it distracting.

Would be sic. I seen some pc sim, think it was iracin. A guy had a tablet for his dash ,1 for rear view and two more for his side mirrors

Guess it wont be possible to show any camera-views on smart glass as the refresh rate is way to low, but it would be a great tool to display lap times, current rankings and the track map or just lap time history while hot lapping.

Something even cooler would be a telemetry viewer/logger that allows you to view telemetry data of the last couple of laps corner by corner. Great help when working on your setup.

This was shown on GTSP using a PSP so “Technically” it is possible to have a rear view mirror, I would however prefer it how Woozie has said with telemetry and split time (also distance in front and behind would be awesome)

Sure it would be technically possible using another 2nd screen technology (not on XBOX though) but in case of smartglass, i believe the refresh rate is about 1 or 2 frames per second. That would give you a nice slideshow when using it as a rear view mirror, so the famous safety warning “Objects in mirror are closer than they appear” would apply even more here  One frame he’s 20 meter behind you, one frame later he’s next to you

Honestly i’m suprised that FM5 didnt have a smartclass companion from the beginning, given how strong MS wants to push smartglass on Xbox One

According to T10 themselves it’s extremely easy for them to output their data to other peripherals.

So lately I’ve been seeing a lot of racing games, mostly PC, that have been releasing companion apps and the functions for them include using ur device as a GPS, Speedometer, Telemetry graph, and being able to tune, upgrade, view your cars from ur device, I would really appreciate a companion app with atleast some of these features, I’d even be willing to pay for it!

I think the most practical one for me would be upgrading and tuning the car via smartglass. Think it would be pretty cool and the interface with its sliders already looks set for touch.

I see no reason why smartglass couldn’t be updated to improve refresh rate for other features either given that Xbox One uses WiFi direct, surely the latency could be sorted. Though they seem quite distracting to me and would probably have a very varied experience depending on your router, phone or tablet.

Apparently you could use the map on Smartglass in Forza Horizon 1, so hopefully that will return in Forza Horizon 2.

Sadly, Microsoft uses Smartglass as a publicity point but not many game developers have actually used it to make a better gaming experience. Dead Rising made it interactive somewhat, but most games don’t use the feature. It would be nice to see Turn 10 make the map interactive for horizon 2 across all devices.

So I’ve seen racing games lately releasing companion apps, most of the games are PC however I do know games like The Crew will have a companion app. The features I’ve seen done is like turning ur device into a GPS or mini map, using it as a Telemetry graph, using it to view all your cars and upgrade/tune, and even using ur device as a speedometer, if only a few of these features were made possibly I think it’d greatly improve the experience with Forza and I wouldn’t even mind paying a few bucks for it tbh, please make this happen!

Forza Horizon had a feature with SmartGlass where you could use another person to set your GPS routes instead of tediously opening up the map and set the GPS from there. I’d foreshadow something similar for Horizon 2, but doubtfully FM5.
