Smart Glass Integration

I’ve been searching on the net trying to find out if Xbox Smart Glass will be integrated with Forza Horizon 2, but I haven’t been able to find anything. Does anyone have some info on this? Sorry if this subject has been answered already…

If you use the search function on the forum you could find some information

I did use the search and only saw info for Forza 5. But thanks for your help

Forza Horizon 1 had smartglass integration but it wasn’t that great - at least not on Android. It was to my understanding that between iOS, Android, and Windows 8 there was different functionality between Smartglass. I now have a Windows 8 device as well, and haven’t found this to be too true.

That said, I have also found that, with the exception of FH1, every other game I have for Xbox One or Xbox 360 has no real smartglass integration. It seems to be more of a marketing gimmick than anything real yet. Bungie didn’t even use Smartglass for Destiny and felt better off releasing their own app, which I have often seen to be the case. I would prefer if the developers did not make their own apps, but used smartglass so you can have some additional features such as map, gps, character changes, etc… …using smartglass.

Until midnight, I don’t know if we will know a lot for sure, but I am excited to see if FH2 does make good use of Smartglass.

Battlefield 4 has a pretty decent one. Having your games map in real times with all the moving players is great. Even when a jet/helicopter/boat get spotted it then shows up on the map on the smartglass. Pretty darn useful

Smart glass will not be in Horizon2. Sorry I don’t have a link like I usually do, but I read that confirmed somewhere.

Playing the game and no smart-glass here. They did launch this new Forza Hub app which is pretty cool, but it sees limited in scope as it only works for the Xbox one portion of the franchise and only works on Xbox One. I haven’t tried it on the Windows Store in Windows 8, but I don’t recall reading anything about that so…

Seems like an opportunity lost. Being a Microsoft Studio and all would have made perfect sense to integrate smart glass…

Hi is there any planned Forza Horizon second screen experience planned for Horizon 2?

I recall the original horizon allowed you to view the map on the second screen and I think it allowed you to plot a destination too.

I was looking forward to running this on Surface Pro 3 but can see no second screen function for Horizon 2.

Any ideas if this will appear at some point?

Yup quite surprising that it isn’t smartglass enabled, especially given that MS wanted to push smartglass for Xbox One. I really liked this feature on the first Horizon.

I have never seen any statement from PG/T10 in regards to smartglass @ FH2, However, if i recall correctly there was a job offer from T10 this summer, looking for a mobile device coder/developer, so it might be coming in the future (or it has been cancelled in the meantime)

They really need to push smartglass further. It has a lot of potential but no one seems to bother with it, almost everyone has a smartglass capable device nowadays.

A game like this could use it to allow you to buy parts/cars or to do some tuning when you are away from the console.
They could also use it to allow design and decals using a touch device with pen input (eg Surface Pro 3)
They could also shift the GPS and Anna stuff to a mobile device and make it like how you use GPS systems in real life.
A lot people like to play the game with all the HUD stuff turned off so this make it a more realistic experience if you setup your phone in a cradle next to your wheel.
Even view and keep up to date with leader boards and club stuff when away from the console.
Or even shift the telemetry output to the device.

Even when companies do a second screen experience they just do their own separate app eg Titanfall and COD, which kind of defeats the purpose of smartglass.
Dead Rising 3 had an interesting feature where you could use your phone for in game calls and messages, we need to see more stuff like this.
I usually have my Surface Pro setup next to me when playing games anyway to use forums and game maps and stuff, why not take advantage of that and add some new interesting features to games.

Smartglass currently doesn’t offer any offline (i.e. disconnected from Console) functionality, i hope this is going to be changed soon. That’s a reason why some dev’s create their own companion app, another reason is cross platform development and the possibility to use their own community service (EA Orion or NFS Autolog)

Apart from using it as a 2nd screen map/GPS, I would love to see smartglass integration for telemetry logging (being able to analyze telemetry after the race) and i can also see some potential using it together with the livery/vinyl editor. Would be great to manipulate shapes using touch gestures.

From my perspective, SmartGlass has much more potential than Kinect for being a useful tool for ‘serious’ gaming.

You can safely tick this off your list until there are radical changes to core game functionality and security.

That said, I’d love to see more use of Smart Glass for all manner of things like map overview with event locations and course plotting, telemetry and hud elements, stats and leaderboards, etc.

I’ll be honest I just kinda expected it to be there because the map GPS was present in old Horizon. It does suck because aside from the aforementioned DR3 this would be the most useful use of smart glass I have seen.

The Ryse smart glass stuff works without a connection to the console.

I’m quite disappointed that there’s no Smartglass support for Horizon 2 of all games. Like others have said, SO MUCH potential, map/gps, telemetry, paint, , even a car radio (okay, that’s a bit gimmicky).

What also bugged be was Horizon 1 had GPS/map, but for whatever arbitrary reason, second screen option for games was never activated for the Xbox360 version of Smartglass for Android tablets/phones.
The ONE’s Smartglass app for Android does support second screen for games, so yeah, a real disappointment for me, expecially when the rest of the game (FH2) is awesome so far.
I really do hope it’s in the works. A real missed opportunity.

Also, Project Spark was meant to have really neat Smartglass, but nothing in the release version. Halo 4 on the 360 had some Smartglass support (though not sure what), and at this rate, I’m assuming that won’t have Smartglass support either (on the Halo:TMCC on the ONE).

And Forza 5 didn’t have anything either, not even telemetry or course map. I really don’t get why they’re not utilizing this very useful feature. And I’m not really a fan of any of the companion apps for games like Destiny, CoD and especially watch_dogs. The Titanfall one was okay, when it decided to work, though I wish they just did that stuff with Smartglass.

Smartglass for telemetry would have been so great. Makes no sense that they didnt use smartglass at all. I really hope to see it added at some point in the future in some way or another. I used it in FH1 for the gps, bc for me, while it worked some, kinect was annoying and didnt seem to work all that well for me in that game.

So many things could be done with smartglass in this game. Tuning, upgrading, painting, gps, telemetry, and possibly even using smartglass for camera mode.
