I rented Forza Horizon 2 for the Xbox 360. After playing three days with it, I think it’s a solid game if you can find it for 20$-25$. I’ll move up directly to a summary of things I enjoy.
You can buy the treasure map for 300,000 credits. I see it more as an unlockable, whereas in FH1 I saw it as a cash grab. It’s also reasonably priced for the general prize inputs. It’s the best 300,000 credits I spent in the game.
The opponents drive cars that are matched up to your perforamnce index (single player). That’s a thing I wish more games in general would do. I can drive, and enjoy racing pretty much every car in the game.
Despite that DLC is not a thing for the Xbox 360, The car list is quite massive for this kind of game.
In FH1, I loved the discount boards for mechanic parts. At first I was kinda bummed that they aren’t in FH2, point 2 and, 100% discount on fast travel + fast travel everywhere on the map makes up for it.
I prefer the soundtrack of FH2 over FH1. The choice of music for the press start screen is spot on. It couldn’t be any better than that.
That’s all I have for now. If you have anything you like of Forza Horizon 2 for the Xbox 360, feel free to share it. Sarcasm is forbidden.
Now having experienced both, there are some things I can say were done better on the 360 vs the XB1 version (just opinion so don’t get all wound up).
ability to switch cars…anywhere, anytime without returning to a hub
filter for searching cars to buy or even your own cars is done much better
though the 360 version has some issues that seem to be largely neglected (shame on everyone who has their name on the box) I never once feared losing my game save
speed trap payouts are pretty handsome
ability to actually sell cars back to the game that are in your garage
I am sure there are more that I have forgotten or are common across both versions that I am taking for granted.
So tell me, honestly. Is One worth buying if im only going to use it for Forza Horizon? You say you have played them both so is the difference worth the price of a One? I just cant make my mind up if it’s worth it or not.
Thanks.
Well since you asked, there is worlds of differences between the two versions. The XB1 version you can tell got the love and attention a Forza branded game deserves. If you look around, you can see it isn’t without it’s issues but I would have to call it a fantastic game. It is a tough sell for me to buy a gaming platform for ANY one game no matter how much I like it but the XB1 is a nice console. I looked at it as an investment not just for Forza games but the whole “faster/stronger/better” versions of games that are multi-plat that drop. You would also be ready for the next iteration of Forza since it is evident that the FH2 360 version was the swan song on that platform, which makes me wish some things had been done better so the series could exit that generation on a high note.
Here is my $0.02 on the 360 version. when FH2 came out i did not have a 360, and wasn’t sure if i would get a One anytime soon. I played through FH2, then got a One and its version of FH2. If you dont have an Xbox One, and dont plan on buying a One it is worth the purchase. It has a very good car list, better than FH1, the map is the same as the One version (minus some fields, the castle, the ruins, and the docks), and it still offers a fun play. If you liked FH1, FH2 on the 360 is basically FH1.5. The cars drive basically the same, plus extra grip, and tuning is still missing. If you get it used for less than $30 it is still worth it. It is also a very good racing game for kids to play, because it is simpler and easier.
If you have an Xbox One though, DO NOT EVEN THINK ABOUT IT.
I think the OP intended for this thread to be solely for positive remarks about the game, not complaints. I can’t tell you what to do, but I will ask you to please find a different thread if you wish to complain about the game.
Seeing so much negativity on these forums (justified or not) all the time makes me wanna not come back…
If you don’t have an Xbox One and are thinking of getting it for Forza I’d say go for it. Both Forza 5 and Forza Horizon 2 are excellent games on the system and both will provide quality driving entertainment, each in a unique way.
I can’t comment on the Xbox 360 version of Horizon 2, but if it is anything like it’s predecessor then I’m sure it to is a great game.
I traded in some games that I hardly played for the 360 and bought FH2 for about half price. For what I paid for the game I think is great. And it sounds like we 360 users got cars that One users did not get. I have been scrolling/reading a lot of threads about issues with the 360 version and (without bragging) I haven’t experienced a lot of those yet. I did receive an update when I first loaded the game, any idea what exactly the update was for? Overall I’m enjoying the 360 FH2 and don’t plan to get a One anytime soon. To know I have the last Forza game for the 360 to me is cool. Thank you for this thread.
I started off on the 360 version and bought the One + the One version after a couple of months.
I’ve posted my negative opinions elsewhere so here are my positives:
Agreed that changing cars without returning to a hub is bloody brilliant
There are some engine sounds that I like better on the 360 (Drive a Delta S4 through the tunnels to hear what I mean!!)
I like being able to repeat the Finale as many times as I wish
I like the EB110 SS - was one of my favourites in previous Forzas, will be stoked when it lands on the One but I suspect it won’t have the Veyron transplant option.
Another feature I enjoy is being able to use any car for all the races and not having to upgrade my car to the top performance index for each race; I can race with whatever upgrade I want.
What I like? That I was able to sell it for the same price I bought it for (yes, even pre-ordered it) and still had 2 weeks of fun with it… basically for free.
I love Storm Island and how beautiful everything looks in the game. Sometimes I slow down to about 45 MPH (60 KPH?) and just enjoy the scenery.
I really wish Turn 10 would add a map where you can do real offroading such as rock climbing, driving through rapids, and attempting to climb stteep hills. It would be about skill and deciding the best approach to an obstacle.
