Winter #Forzathon Shop, Festival Playlist events and rewards through December 10

A lot of complaints this week. I agree that 15 threading the needles is beyond ridiculous but aside from that I didn’t have any problem with it. Got the mudkickers jump on the 2nd try. Same with the speed zone. I ended up doing that one a couple more times because I noticed a friend was ahead of me on the leaderboard.

The trial was annoying but only because one player in a faster car kept bumping me instead of just passing. There have certainly been worse trials like the one with the trucks where they ended up giving everyone the Mosler and the drag racing one to win that hot wheels buggy.

I expect next week could be along those lines, your average trial ‘teammate’ who has to use the rental will be hopeless in whichever car it is.

I may just quit if I get in a team with 3 or more low level players with stock cars since it’s 99% likely they won’t be able to drive them competently at all.

I hate to bring rewinds back up, but did you use rewinds? I don’t use rewinds so you will get varying complaints that aren’t really talking about the same thing.

I do use rewinds because I choose not to torture myself but I can see why people would prefer not to. I only needed a couple to line up the jump though. Seems not worth the effort to drive back down the road and start over just because of a bad hop. Didn’t need any for the Goliath.

You sound like Luke Skywalker failing to lift an x-wing out of a swamp.

George please don’t go insulting everybody if something doesn’t go your way.
When I started playing FH4, I also got frustrated if something that looked simple took stupid amounts of time, but rather ranting over everybody, I looked into this kind of topics for tips, google them, watched youtube vids and realized I was the problem, not others. That’s why I also try to share what I know now and what I learned in this kind of threads.

Remark on this week:
As I said in my post you just need a good run up and steady hand trough those pipes for danger sign.
Also plenty of tips on doing threading the needle (moving cars, doing solo highway runs, …) and for Goliath race I purposely upgraded my TVR with winter tires and also added front aero, among my usual upgrades. For me it was just a pleasant 10 min drive in winter, as I actually like that race.

Anyway, have fun everyone, bb

Add me to the PGG disconnect crew. No 205 for me.

In fact, disconnects seem to be a very strong theme lately.

Now I just need to squeeze an extra 2mph out of the Mono for that speed zone…

I hope this helps you to do the challenges

You guys have to understand sometimes these events or whatever can be difficult for some people. Most of the time I have little issue but sometimes it’s like they stack too many bothersome things in one season. As I said I have adult ADD. This means I am easily frustrated and really dislike repetitive tasks that really serve no purpose. If I can do one threading the needle I can do 15 or 100 but it is time consuming and boring to be honest. For someone with ADD this is torture. I seems they just don’t register half the time just driving down the highway in Horizon solo. The AI insists on moving just when you are about to get it over and over. I’m sorry it’s just annoying. I don’t want or care to move cars on the beach. Ridiculous. It’s not that I cannot do it, I do not want to deal with it and get frustrated which I really try to avoid if I can. I want to relax and do the playlist quickly and with as little frustration as possible. I go for 100% cause I know I can that’s all. I get hyper focused on things and it’s hard to stop unless I complete it but I was getting extremely angry which of course makes things harder. I just ask the developers to think a little instead of just making seemingly arbitrary decisions. It should be 2 hrs max to complete. That is more than enough. All C and D class championships with long circuits just took too long after I already spent too much time on a stupid jump. Trial I did twice (once with a friend) with little issue and came in first or second in each race despite being bothered by players who had no chance with their still slower than me wall bouncing. No one here is pretending and most are regular posters we all know. It’s like the developers do not play their own game. They probably do not go for 100% I’m pretty sure. I ask they think a little about those who do. Ignoring issues like ranked points for years is really discouraging and just shows a lack of caring that permeates this game and Motorsport too. You can agree, disagree. I really don’t care anymore. It can be better and it never gets better so as they say it is what it is. This whole playlist is about let’s say encouraging you to play their game for a time period. I’d much rather and would spend more time playlist or not racing with other competitive players who want a fair race. This is elusive at best and they have done nothing I repeat nothing to improve this. They spend time on all manner of things no one asked for. Eliminator, backstage whatever when they can just put the cars in the auto show very easily instead. My cat is yawning FYI.

Sorry, but a game without challenges? (100% is not required to get the cars)

Its already max 3 hours (even with connection problems). But you have 1 week to complete! Do the jump or whatever another day. Do 3 needles everday… no idea. For other people the game is boring because there is nothing else todo

The slowest thing this week is the vans&pickups with D500 and it took exactly 15minutes to complete (tested right now).
The most time consuming is playground games when doing 5/5

4x 15min max for the races
1x 30min max for games
30min the other stuff prstunts + forzathon
= 2hours max
1-5min daily things
and once a month the online/rivals

doing the needles regular without moving cars in position and 30 extra tries on the jump is +1hour max or you are doing something wrong

looking at this post im sure you are

use the tractor&car as orientation and the car is not always there

going this way yes you hit the car but nothing prevents u from pushing the car away

using diff angle u can use as reference

the other player there moved the blue car to the right but trust me u cant hit it

(the xbox captures look so crap on yt)

keep in mind its a game

That’s not a disorder, it’s just rational thinking. Our species wouldn’t have got very far if people spent all their time doing repetitive tasks that serve no purpose.

What I’m not so clear about is why you’re going beyond 50% for each season? You can get to 50% in much less than half the time it takes to get to 100%. I think you’ve been playing the game for long enough to have every car, so you shouldn’t need the repeat offerings?

Yeah, even though it’s repetitive, you can make it easier on you if you develop a strategy.

Since I have all the cars (always until next week!), and I drive them all, I usually know how to dismantle the Playlist’s challenges. For the things I don’t know, I just come here and brainstorm with you guys, lol. The only things I wasn’t able to power grind in this game were the PGG and Eliminator, due to the luck factor and poor car choices in PGG.

There is a grind, true. It shouldn’t be there. And “it’s just a game” isn’t an acceptable reply when there’s games that, unlike Forza Horizon, actually tempt you with microtransactions instead of grind. We’re no longer in the 90s, games aren’t just a pastime, they’re an industry with consumers and if we’re not satisfied we can complain and hope they listen.

But, because there is a grind, we can always try to save time.

I wish there was something more substantial for clearing 100%. Right now, there’s only an achievement (which I already have). If they gave a large sum of cash, FP, Backstage Passes, or maybe even free choice of exclusive car, maybe some people would actually complete Playlists instead of using the AH to speculate.

I also have ADHD.

Despite not taking very long, the “Do X skill Y times” tasks are more annoying to me than the races. Because usually the races are an opportunity for me to dust off certain cars (when the tournaments are good and not trash like Winter Street Scene), whereas the Forzathons are stupid most of the time. I can make the races quicker with Blueprints and New Racer difficulty but it’s just boring to do so.

I’d like to think it’s the bean counters and not Playground who tell them to build the game around the Auction House. Because, really, that’s what exclusive cars are about. Forza has always had unicorns, but not 100+ of them. People who snipe the AH all day play a lot whether they’re actually there or not and engagement metrics register this data, which keeps the board happy.

But it’s just not a fun way to play. Ever since FH3 and some of FM7, the game has been hostage to digital speculators who snipe low and sell high. Giving everyone the ability to sell high does not fix the problem, it makes it even worse, since pedestrian cars like an AE86 go for 20 million because they’re popular. Even at almost 400 million, I feel no desire to pay 20 million for a car, it’s just not worth.

The AH is a very toxic marketplace IMO, and not just for the values, but also because you can’t see the perks on the car when you buy. So you buy a Miura and can’t get the Reventon FE because the perk is spent. There’s a lot of talk about inclusivity on Microsoft’s part but not much is done to curb actual toxic behavior and mechanics IMO.

Fun little bug. If you jump the danger sign and pull up the camera during the slow motion effect it turns EVERYTHING into “slow motion.” Camera movement, zoom in/out, the system processing the picture for the Promo takes an especially long time. Almost thought my game was broken until I repeated it. Got a great shot and it didn’t do the auto-lowering like I normally experience when capturing an airborne car.

Hello again,

Cars/tunes/suggestions for this weeks seasonal for those that find such useful. All tunes are my own, unless otherwise noted, all shared by myself (or others). ~ tune name / share code. If you use anything offered here, and you like it/it was useful to you, please don’t forget to leave a like.

This week, for time (for me), everything is a tune used and/or made previously.

Online:
Only doing the Trial this week.

**Trial: “Track In” | Dirt Racing | (B700) Modern Rally
**Car used: 2006 Mitsubishi Lancer Evo ix MR (Autoshow 27,000 Cr)
**Tune: B700 Dirt / 114 376 252

Car/tune is a mid to front of pack runner, has too much grip, and less than idea acceleration/launch - otherwise it is a no problem point scoring for the team, rally car, for the event. I say mid, as it depends on what your team mates bring, based on what I saw, if your teammates bring tuned less grip power builds (and can drive) you will not get podium. Tune is AWD as stock, has rally/snow tires, mudflaps, rally lights, Forza rear aero, Varis front bumber - not a lot of P.I. to play with, body mods lower weight, cost next to no P.I (or 0.x P.I.) or give P.I. back.

PR Stunts: ~ with full disclosure.

  • Brookside Speed Zone, 2018 McLaren Senna - ‘New S2 Road Race’ (111 960 179) by Don Joewon Song, - one run, no rewind.
  • High Street Speed Trap, 2019 Rimac Concept Two - ‘PR Stunt Rally’ (120 633 544), - one run, no rewind (as it should be, it’s a straight line run up).
  • Mudkickers’ Showjump Danger Sign, 2019 Rimac Concept Two - ‘PR Stunt Rally’ (120 633 544), hit the pipe a number of times, rewind to retry, two full no hit runs off the ramp, first failed due to landing, second was successful.

Solo championships - Raced against Expert, Steering: Simulation, ABS: on, Traction/Stability: Off, Gearbox: Auto.

**Championship: “Teen Spirit” | Dirt Racing | (C600) Decade: 1990s
**Car used: 1992 VW Golf GTi 16v Mk2 (Autoshow 20,000 Cr)
**Tune: C600 Dirt / 103 357 208

Actually felt this car/tune might lead to a ‘competitive’ win vs. the A.I.,as was originally used in a Hatch event, however worked really well in this event (would be different vs other players as no system matching to my choice of car). Quick, easy to control car on road and offroad, although slow off the line. Tune is FWD, no aero, rally/snow tires.

**Championship: “Mining For Gold” | Cross Country | (C600) Offroad
**Car used: 1972 Land Rover Series iii (Autoshow 20,000 Cr)
**Tune: C600 Offroad CC / 156 856 170

Quick, fun wild car/tune ~ sometimes hard to keep pointed in the right direction. Try to avoid hitting things where possible, can become unstable after collisions with breakables. Going to say, for beginners, maybe not, for others this will have no problem beating the A.I provided no mishaps. Tune is supercharged, offroad/snow tires, tire on hood/bonnet, mudflaps.

**Championship: “I’ll Make a Van Out of You” | Dirt Racing | (D500) Vans and Utility
**Car used: 1983 GMC Vandura G-1500 (Autoshow 25,000 Cr)
**Tune: D500 Dirt CC AWD / 102 928 420

Maybe the slowest choice for the event, but very easy to drive/control - also seems to make the A.I. only use it too. Event will be a little competitive, no run away wins. Tune is AWD, rear Forza air (cheat), rally/snow tires.

N.B - ran the weekly in completely stock TVR, agree with others, too many treading the needle skills required, used a ‘quick’ version of the race selected via the ‘popular this week’.

Maybe will be helpful to someone.

Enjoy.

I’d hate to be a dev for this game. Damned if you do, damned if you don’t.

Before the playlist the biggest gripe from people was that there wasn’t enough to do and it was getting “boring”…

Then they give you things to do and now it’s a “grind”…

Here’s something to ponder, if you don’t want to do it then don’t. It is not like you are being “forced” to do something.

Last i looked the weekly and daily do not offer a car as a reward so there you go, don’t do them if they annoy you. As for the championships and Trial, they are not hard to do if you approach them with the right car and a bit of skill (not a lot mind you, just a bit) and your good to go.

Games do not change (and quite rightly) because someone cannot do parts of it, if it did and it was made so easy a 5 year old could do it, then i wouldn’t even bother buying the game.

Games are meant to “challenge” you, not give you a gold star for effort (which sadly they have done for PGG). Lots of games out there require you to do a certain amount of work to unlock rewards or move up levels, if you don’t then you stay where you are until you can. This game should be no different.

If you need help then ask instead of complaining about it and if you still cannot do it then accept that maybe you are not proficient enough to do it and no amount of help or practice will ever change that.

I know that i sometimes get frustrated because i cannot beat the person in front of me in rivals but i calm down and accept i will not do it, i don’t demand things change so that i can “probably” beat the guy in front of me.

50% completion for playlist is easily achieved by a vast majority i reckon and 80% as well if you persist, lessen the difficulty for the playlist and it would seriously become a joke.

That’s my 2 cents anyway.

Tell me how, in any way, can the Playlist be considered a “challenge”.

This game offers exactly what you stated, in the form of Horizon Stories and level progression.

The Forzathon and the Playlist are not that. They are a shameless attempt at preying on gamer anxiety by introducing new cars via time-limited events and, in conjunction with the Auction House, an even more shameless attempt at draining playtime from players in order to boost engagement metrics, whether it’s in actual gameplay of time-consuming, menial tasks, or in forcing players to grind money and win ludicrously expensive bids in the AH, or spend ages trying to “snipe” rare cars.

It also incentivizes toxic behavior from players, because it furthers price speculation in the AH, as players with more time (kids and teens mostly) can camp the AH all day “sniping” rare cars and reselling them for stupidly high prices, all while gloating about it on here, Discord and other places.

The whole seasonal aspect of FH4 is so bad, there’s nothing in the game nor the Xbox OS stopping people from doing certain things to get cars early. It was poorly thought out from the start. The Playlist itself was introduced because everyone in this game is rich and it worsened the problem by making these same people even richer at the expense of others! lol

It was never about the challenge. If anything, the challenge is lacking!!! Any kid with enough time and either quick fingers or knowledge of certain apps I won’t mention here can make millions of credits and break the game by exploiting the economy and the reward system. How is this a “challenge” akin to what we used to have in old games?

Darius Flynt in FH1 was a challenge. Sebring 300 in FM6 was a challenge. This is not. It’s a grind and a waste of time.

Sounds like you find it a big pain in the backside playing FH4.

May i suggest you find something else that doesn’t make you want to bag the heck out of it.

I think the fact that that’s all you can reply with to a valid opinion that’s well structured, explains why they think what they do and isn’t attacking anyone says a lot.
