It always bothered me that when it began to rain during a drive in FH2 while driving a convertible, I had no option to close the roof. It just feels odd for me to drive in the rain with the top down, even if it’s not actually doing anything to the car.
Anyway, it’s just something I’ve always wanted to see and I’m hoping it is available in FH3.
This would be amazing to have. I and the cars that have hard tops that can be removed in IRL to beable to remove them in game also. Like the Gen 1 Miata has a hardtop I want to remove that.
Even if the animations weren’t modelled, at very least I’d like to have the ability to choose in the tuning shop whether the roof is up or down. That would be nice.
I think they might not do it because it could cause havoc with the vinyl system they use. If you dropped the top on a car that you have a paintjob on the roof that could end up mapped all over the seats and look very bad. Or quite cool if you like that sort of thing. lol
But yeah, it could cause a problem with the vinyl mapping on vehicles. So they stick the roofs up or down and leave it like that ready to run, and paint only appliable where it’s appropriate. Otherwise they’ve probably have to have two models or not allow painting on half the car somehow.
If they have put it in, more props to them. I’m just spit-balling a possible reason they might not include it.
Wouldn’t it be pretty simple to remove the roof part of a paint job whenever roof is disabled?
Anyway, TDU2 had this feature, even GTA V did. It was always weird to me that such greatly detailed game in regards of cars as Forza doesn’t have this feature.
I agree with you mate. While I’m not a painter, well, I paint my own stuff, but nothing big like you guys do.
So, yes, but hat would cause heaps of mapping issues for sure. But on the other side. Offering the options of having roofs up or down, especially on hardtop convertibles. Would add a Ben more technical hurdles that the team would need to overcome.
Sure, offer it in say Forza a Vista, do you can take pics etc. but in while your in-game, as it’s a huge task go outer wise dealing with the huge variables that would occur if one was lifting a roof while driving… A non-no in real, life, obviously. But hay, there’s nuts out there lol…
If the car comes as a soft top, then sure, offer it as an option to drive the car with the lid down or up. That doesn’t affect vynle mapping etc. and it doesn’t affect gameplay.,
It would give the driver a different experience, and you can have some fun. But seriously not in the gameplay, please.
If the animation doesn’t happen, it would be simple to have an option to open/close it and the vehicle respawns with the option. Animations are much more preferred to me, though.
Unique how? Many games have or have had working convertibles. Unique is something only one title has ever done. For example, Master Chief is unique to the Halo games. Hell, GTA has convertibles and that’s a sandbox game at this point. lol
Comparing ANY game to ANY other game is silly. Different teams, with different goals working to different design briefs. That’s like saying because my SUV has a winch, so should my daily drive. Similar things, made for different reasons. The same as games are.
Being able to switch between the two on the fly with the changes in weather would be more than welcome. Certainly if it’s going to rain as often as it did in Horizon 2…
I think autovista and the actual game itself are 2 different game engines (vista being higher detailed for obvious reasons). not sure how they coded it but I could understand if it wouldnt be so straighforward as to just “copying” it to the actual game.
Is being able to put the top down really that important ? If they implement it, in a year will you all be posting how online racing isnt what you really want but that its ok because you can put the roof down ? I think these minor cosmetic things really need to go in the wishlist, if thats what you want.
