Will there be a FOV slider for cockpit view?

Camera sat too far back for my taste, and many other people. This should be a no brainer addition.

Rest assure. It’s in there.

Is there anything confirming This? I’ve seen cars running carious settings (No steering wheel, different fov) but is there any links or interviews with confirmation?

I spoke too soon. I swore all forza’s that had in-car view, had FOV adjustment settings…

I was foolishly going off common sense for what should be in the game.

Ugh, sorry!

No problem haha!

They fixed the FOV and added a new cockpit camera. And it looks way better. A FOV slider would still be nice. IGN just posted this video. I can’t watch it in 4k, but 1440p looks downright amazing.

You can fix the wipers bouncing around at 30 MPH though if you would like though. I have NEVER seen a wiper flop around on any car going under 80MPH They should move at least until you hit 70-80MPH.

There’s no such thing as a “fixed” FoV. The correct FoV is dependent on the angle between the player’s viewing position and the edges of the screen, which are obviously dependent on screen size and viewing distance. That’s why other games allow you to vary it - because there’s no way to predict this angle.

By fixed I meant they put the in car camera a little more forward than it was in FM6. Doesn’t feel like you riding gangster anymore.

where’s that video?

It’s more than the FOV that has to be fixed for cockpit view. The light is from the cockpit has always been too bright so hopefully the refraction has been adjusted.

Many racing games such as Assetto Corsa and Dirt Rally has camera option that removes from view steering wheel when I’m using first person camera. Are you (Turn 10) considering to develop same option to Forza Motorsport games?

Someone said in another thread that FM7 has this. I cannot confirm though.

That was me. It was shown in one of the gameplay videos, the GT-R maybe?

Oh I do hope they add an FOV option - from the gameplay vids I’ve seen, the cam still looks stretched out and far away. I suspect Forza does this on purpose to relay a good sense of speed but it makes objects in and around the car tiny and zoomed out. Feels like you’re driving at a miniature golf course rather than a real track. For reference, Forza 5’s FOV was just about perfect. You really felt like you were hugging corners and going over the curbes, naturally rolling with the flow of the road, if that makes sense.

I hate to be the bearer of bad news, but chances are very high there won’t be a pov adjustment slider. Same reason why there wasn’t one the past game, performance. They sacrifice to get to 60fps on console hardware, part of that is the limited pov cockpit view.
Now with the X, I could see the inclusion of a cockpit slider for the more powerful console, but only on non 4k resolution. PC might have a slider.

Also I really hope they give me a way to disable windshield wiper shaking. I don’t know why they think that’s cool, but it’s extremely unrealistic. I’ve driven multiple cars into triple digits, and not one has windshield vibration that bad. You’re going to tell me that race engineers, who spends [Mod Edit - Abbreviated profanity, profanity and profanity that is disguised but still alludes to the words are not permitted - D].

Take your car through a car wash, even with hurricane force winds hitting your windshield from a direction not designed for, windshield wipers barely deflect an inch at the every leading edge.

Actually if you take any car through a car wash with a nice blower at the end, your wipers will flop around like do in FM7.

They will, I said they will. Just not that much. And not to mention the windshield wipers weren’t designed to have wind hitting them from those angles.
At the very leading edge of the wipers, they may move an inch. They barely move. When the wind is hitting the vehicle from the appropriate direction, windshield wipers simply don’t move that much. The last time I remember windshield wipers moving in real life was the McLaren P1 Nurburg video. And the windshield wipers weren’t being moved by the wind, they were being moved by gforces.
Aforementioned Nurburgring McLaren run.

I’ve driven about 5 different vehicles into the triple digits, some close to 150mph. Never have I noticed windshield wipers wagging around.
Trust me at those speeds you notice everything that has to do with the track and has to do with the car being “out of place”. You would definitely noticed something directly in your field of view.

I saw the gameplay videos again, and the GTR race car on Nurb GP had wipers shaking about like crazy at 50 mph, as if the were about to break off loose. Really unrealistic and arcade looking… I think this needs to go, unless T10 is planning to introduce trippy-looking brake light trail marks too in a future update.

Agreed.
Won’t be fixed/altered though.
It’s funny because wipers are designed to be aerodynamic so they don’t move at low speed.
They never fixed the FOV or paddle shift animation from F6.
I mean look at this. I’m fairly certain racers don’t ride gangster and let go of the wheel to shift during a race.

Edit: just realized that this video is the same car they are showing at E3. Apparently they put a CVT in this Nismo

I agree 100% the wipers shaking around at any speed under 80MPH looks insanely unrealistic. I’d be fine with them shaking a bit at high speed.

And, I have also had my '96 M3 up to 140+ MPH, once, and don’t remember the wipers moving. It was at night, I was scared as [Mod Edit - Abbreviated profanity, profanity and profanity that is disguised but still alludes to the words are not permitted - D] and I could only focus on the road. Everything else was tuned out.

They won’t fix the wipers though. Dan seemed pretty happy with the way they move?!
