Will there be a Forza every other year or will it be a live service?

Forza is looking good and has been in the making for a lot longer than previous titles. Does this mean were going to be getting regular updates like a live service or will there be a Forza 9 in 2 years time. The live service option sounds alot better to me and would prefer this.

Let’s hope it actually “evolves” instead of just fragmenting the full experience at launch and rebuilding it piece by piece with updates.

If they do the same as with FH5 we can expect many more cars and tracks to be added. FH5 currently has a garage limit of 2000. Will FM8 have that as well? Plenty of cars to add then!

It’s gonna be one title for an entire console generation, so there likely wouldn’t be a Forza Motorsport 9 any time soon.

Potentially as the game evolves and ages over time, FM8 can potentially have the largest amount of cars and tracks ever seen in a Motorsport game, beating out even FM7.

I’ll just go ahead and remind everyone here who thinks and believes that this game isn’t getting a sequel that people thought the same thing about Destiny and Overwatch. In fact, Destiny was proclaimed to be a game that “would be updated until the end of time”.

Three years later, Destiny 2 came out.

Forza Motorsport is totally going to get a sequel, and within the same generation even.

From Destiny’s Wikipedia page:

Prior to the official release of Destiny in September 2014, Bungie declared that a major component of the game would be a continuous release of new content. Bungie Director of Production Jonty Barnes said: “We’re going to continuously update the game from now until the end of time. That’s always going to be part of the philosophy of Destiny. We always wanted to build a new universe but keep building upon it, rather than to do a complete and utter restart periodically.”[106]

If the beancounters say “Make sequel” - and let’s be honest, it’s all but confirmed who’s been running the Forza franchise lately - sequel is getting made.

Hey guys, so I wanted to go ahead and start this thread about this game’s life. Being that Forza Motorsport isn’t called FM8 you would think they have long term support in mind for this title. I personally hope T10 renews/extends licenses for everything to keep this game going as they continue adding content! I don’t think a life span of 4 or so years will allow this game to be as great as it could be. This’ll probably be my last go round and I’m hoping it gets up to being one of the best Forza games ever made.

What do you guys think?

I’ll wait and see what happens, but MS already soured me a bit on “live service”, continuously supported games.

I only have a few that I’m aware of, but specifically MS Flightsim. Was in the Alpha for that. When people were asking, we were told the sim would get 10 years of support, but the devs wouldn’t really explain how this was sustainable, given the need to keep income coming in during that time.

Sure enough, a couple of years since release, they’re going to be releasing a “MSFS 2024” edition. Essentially a patch, with a full game price tag.

You can skip the paid patch, but then your game is essentially stuck in an old version, with just enough support to keep it functioning. If you want the “full” game, and all the new features going forward, you have to buy the new version/patch.

I suspect this will repeat every few years, until the software dies, or gets properly replaced with an actual sequel.

That said, I don’t know that this will occur with this particular title, but it’s still the same scenario. T10 can only keep this going with revenue coming in. If the title itself doesn’t continue to sell at a rate that covers that, and/or DLC can’t make up the difference, you have to find another way to keep the funds coming in, the lights on, and staff paid.

Wow I had no idea about FS2024! Ugh that doesn’t give me much hope for this title then, I mean unless they can manage to make some good dlc or something but man you can’t do that without splitting the game community up especially if it’s tracks/features. Cars you can get away with but just like in older games when you bind packs with tracks online multiplayer gets screwed up big time. I’d actually support a monthly subscription or something of like a dollar or two a month after the game’s been out like 4 years but I know I’m in the minority there. I know for sure getting licenses renewed will cost a fortune in and of themselves. Sucks because this game seems to have really good driving in it, could become the GOAT with enough time and a bit of tweeking/features
