Good question. I was actually wondering the same only because in the E3 trailer they show a BRZ/86 drifting against a r34 gtr and it does look like there is a wide body kit on the car. Forza Horizon 2 is suppose to be taking it up a notch from F5 so who knows.
Sorry to burst your bubble but now that I have had a look at that video, I am going to assure you now that they were not widebody kits. Those were standard bumbers that you can install onto your car. They were all seen in Forza 4 as bumper upgrades.
I really hope we can get some wide body kits. Low suspension and all that good stuff. Especially since there’s now car meets/cruises it’ll be such a good opportunity for them to do what no other console game has. Making proper hellaflush cars is an opportunity so many games pass up and so many gamers want. [Mod Edit - we do not allow hacking talk on the forums.-fyerball]
I agree wide kits would be nice but then the wheels wouldn’t fit right. They would have to add an adjustable rim offset feature in order to get that flush look. Also, being able to choose rim width separately from tire width would be nice
Making conversions with digital cars isn’t like real life. What you are comparatively saying is an engine change (in Forza) isn’t possible without reconfiguring the engine mounts … that don’t actually exist. In the case of wheels, virtual axles aren’t holding anything in a particular position. The designers would just need to, with the installation of a widebody kit, bring the wheels out (visually, not mechanically) an appropriate distance.
You must not understand how offset works and relates to proper fit. Im not saying it isnt possible, I said it “wouldnt look right” without adjustable offset and separate wheel/tire sizes… Read my post again. Sure you can just put fat spacers behind the wheel to make it flush (bring the wheels out like you said) but in the end thats just going to look silly. The main reason people add widebody kits on their car is to allow more lip on the rim and or bigger wheels/tires. Some drag cars have wider kits to allow wider racing slicks. This doesnt mean the rim has to be wider, just the tire. And then there is the hellaflush look… when you cram a 12inch rim into a 295 tire and run -2 or more camber. Offset is the most important rim feature in my eyes…
ugh hellaflush, the worst thing to happen to cars since stance and dub wheels meant for trucks on cars. (strictly my opinion)
About the widebody kits, I really don’t think it would be easy for them to do, they would need to change the wheel locations, the tire marks and smoke sources, ect, seems like a lot of coding just for a body kit.
A: Customisations are handled on a per-car basis. Some cars (especially popular tuner cars) feature several licensed aftermarket body parts. Several of the vintage cars have classic race style parts. Some of the newer cars include OEM customization parts that allow players to either mimic a specific package offered by the manufacturer or mix and match parts as they see fit."
Honestly wide body kits probably won’t be coming to FH2. With the open world it would just be amazing. Even in tuning they could make it possible to manually change the wheelbase… if you so choose
Even though developers are saying that this is supposedly meant to be a big leap forward over Forza 5, I personally am not getting too excited about the widebody customisation theory for one good reason. There have been many instances that us, as the community have attempted to grab Turn 10’s attention by asking for widebody kits, and we have been doing this since 2011 when Forza 4 had just come out. They didn’t put them into Horizon 1 and Forza 5 so I am not getting too hyped. I am still yet to look over some of the extra footage released to us to see if they snuck in a surprise that hopefully turns out to be wheel arch upgrades but I won’t get too excited until they give out a video about the customisation of the car per say.
As many people said it probably wont be in there, i’d be expecting the same bodykits in fm5/horizon 1, although it would be good if the tuning was as extensive as Midnight clubs, they were awesome
