Why is this game so freaking inconsistent?

God the driving dynamics of this game are so infuriating. Braking is an absolute guessing game in this pile of trash they call this game. Sometimes when I brake, the car immediately locks up the tires. Other times, it doesn’t, even tho I’m applying the same pressure. Other times, the car acts like it has no brakes, causing me to downshift like crazy to try to compensate, while other times, its like I dropped a damn anchor out the trunk.

If you play it more you will notice that downhill, and uphill are one reason why the braking changes dramatically. I call that gravity effect, and it seems too much gravity effect is a part of the game. Then there is wet road, and offroad, they also make a difference. Apart from changes to the map, the braking is consistent all of the time.

Weather, uphill and downhill aren’t a factor in the tests I’ve done.

Uphill and downhill definitely does affect braking along with crests.

I know this, I was conducting tests on the main drag strip, in dry conditions. I noticed that sometimes, the car brakes normally, others, its like there’s no brakes at all. Still running into these problems.

Were you testing another game completely???

OH, you know what, sorry, my bad. I was testing Spyro.

You’re meant to use breaks?

You don’t say…

Naaaaaaa thats what the walls are for…

its not just the driving dynamics …

have you jumped off a danger sign and done flips or just fall?
what is that garbage?

Driving physics ahd tyre model is actually better then fh4.

‘Better’ is subjective. The only fact is that it’s different. You could argue it’s more realistic but that doesn’t mean better necessarily, unless realism is the goal rather than playability.

Its more realistic and also more playable. Tyre pressure now actually affects the tyre grip. In Fh4 you can get away by setting the tyre pressure lowest and tyres wont suffer from over heating. Rwd was almost undriveable due to unbelievable wheelspin in Fh4 while Rwd is a lot more managable in Fh5. Those are not subjective, they are facts proven by lap times.

S998 Jesko in FH4 is actually driveable and more easy to use than FH5.
In FH4 it feel run a compelety different tire than other RWD car.

And the new tire model create some funny problem
Some hyper/super car with wider rear wheel would understeer because 1 of the rear wheels drag the car toward outside.

in FH4 S2 class track car with slick tire have wet weakness.
But in FH5 they dont because every car is on slick. then many S2 hyper car are useless

What constitutes more playable is subjective. I find FH5 less pleasant to play, less playable. That’s my opinion, which can’t be wrong about a subjective issue.

You are braking wrong… sorry had to be said. I never encountered this issue and you need to re-learn few things because they have improved braking system for this game.

I will be first to criticize but braking area is not the one.

More “realsitic” doesnt make a better game sometime
And also it is only some part of “realstic” it create problem sometime.

For example
If you added a super real gun physic in FPS.
You wont get a great shooting handling or land you 1800m shot in battlefeild 3-4 because they make the bullet hitbox bigger than a basketball for longer short.

In FH4 the "realistic suspension simulation " randomly send you car off checkpoint in a jump.
or when you land your car it re-bounce to random direction and directly throw your car off checkpoint. (oh the AI dont have this problem)

I think the problem is
In FH4 I can correct this small inconsistent by changing accelerate input timing after braking.
But In FH5 some car can not do it.
For example if you running a “meta” S2 track car you dont have to worry about understeer. because you always below limit and have lots of space to adjust.

And also if you running with brake line on. The game already did a feedback to you before braking.

And with higher game speed you dont have much time to adjust and react.
many “realistic” racing game are running a lower game speed.
Except horizon.

Use ABS if you’re playing on keyboard, controller that does not have vibration in triggers or you can’t find roughly 60% point on trigger or pedal.

The tyre physics aren’t the problem, or the braking, the problem is the auto-turning. Been testing Goliath on Pro level, and some of the first bends you can brake, and turn, but the later bends you brake but can’t turn. Now we all know that the game has built in auto-steer adjust for bends, but it doesn’t work on all the bends. It’s like somebody didn’t finish adding all of the auto steer events.

So you can get to a bend, and go in a straight line sometimes, people blame braking, and tyres, but it’s that auto-steer thing not turning the wheels properly. You never know when it’s going to work, so you don’t know what’s going on.
