Forza Motorsport DLC: Honda Baja Trophy Truck, Toyota Land Cruiser, Nissan Safari, Porsche Cayanne, Jeep Grand Cherokee Trackhawk, Dodge Durango SRT, RAM Power Wagon, Chevrolet Colorado, Volvo XC90, Maserati Levante
Forza Horizon new cars: McLaren Senna, Ferrari FXX, Koenisegg Agera RS, etc
I realize, especially during FM7 car pack releases, the anger over SUVs was high, now it’s salt in the wound to see horizon series get literally track only cars (FXX) when they added trucks, suvs, and minivans to the motorsport series. Who is making the car DLC decisions for motorsport versus offroad driving games?
The trophy trucks are hilariously good fun to drive and if you play the game using homologation the racing is great no matter what type of car you drive. Why do you only want P and X class cars that go 8 million miles per hour?
I’m sorry but I am so unbelievably tired of this argument. Variety is the spice of life and has always been a selling point for forza Motorsport.
A 1958 Plymouth Fury is not a race car by any stretch and it is big and heavy, yet no one says it should be removed because it’s not “Motorsport” enough.
I am of the mind that if you can put an engine in it, on it, behind it, whatever you can race it.
I will agree that an off road environment for the 4wd and rally cars, trophy trucks and suvs would be welcomed but I will not accept that vehicles should be removed from the game because they are not race cars. Even though we only have tracks to race on some of the most fun I have had is driving the more odd and non track oriented vehicles.
In closing I will add that this version of forza Motorsport has more “race cars” in the lineup and as DLC than any previous Motorsport release and its important to remember that while complaining about the non race cars that have been added.
To this day, the most fun I’ve had in this game was racing a series in the International Scout. I enjoyed taking GT cars into cross country races in FH3. I’d be amused to have an F1 car with rally tires/suspension (monster truck tires/suspension would be even better) in FH4.
The SUVs are pointless without dirt roads. Until the developers add rugged terrain I’ll never use a Van/ Trophy truck unless it’s mandatory for career mode.
It’s either they add roads suitable for these types of vehicles, or if not might as well remove them to make space for cars that actually belong in Forza.
For the rally cars and trophy trucks I kinda work around it now. I race those on tracks that have rain, bumpy type of pavement and usually shorter tracks such as brands hatch, long beach, a few versions of VIR, shorter versions of Rio, homestead, Bernese Alps, Prague, the shorter Dubai tracks and Maple valley. That way it kinda simulates the environment they typically race on and they can be made a little fun racing those tracks. But I do agree that we would be better off with proper off-road environments.
It is kind of pointless having SUV’s & Rally Cars when there’s nowhere to use their full potential. I only use them on the Nurburgring for that “I wonder how fast this will lap” or like sTReetBurner09 said, use them on tracks with rain or bumpy roads / pavements.
Not saying rally cars & trucks / SUV’s can’t be enjoyed in the current meta of the game but they are much more suited to Horizon right now & cars like the Senna, FXXK, Agera RS, etc would’ve been much more suited to Forza Motorsport 7.
Think of it like this. Imagine having an F1 car, but only either a drag strip or oval to race it on. You’re not utilizing is full capability or worth to the consumer. Same applies for trucks, SUV’s & rally cars in the current state of the game.
Now if Forza Motorsport 7 had a dirt track or even added jumps to certain tracks like Long Beach, I would be speaking completely differently on the topic.
Edit: At the end of the day however, the big indicator is that most of these trucks, SUV’s and rally cars were added to Forza Motorsport 7 as testing placeholders for Forza Horizon 4. It’s happened before & I have no doubt this was the reason they were added to this particular game.
