Why are some previous-Forza car models absent from FM7?

Hey there,

The Speed 8 is a classic in the Forza serie and is present in every iteration except FM5.
When they announced the complete car list, i thought there was an error and that the car was just forgot because i couldn’t see a logical reason (lol).
Now that i downloaded the PC preload files for the game and cautiously examined the game files, it’s a fact : the Speed 8 is not there.
Judging by the game files, there’s exactly 726 cars in the game but this one is not among them…

Why did they suddently remove the only LMP Bentley car ?
They preserved almost every cars from 6 but for obscure reasons, decided to let this one go ?

Surely not a licencing problem since it’s present on both Project Cars 2 and Assetto Corsa.

That car is my favorite one in LMP since FM3, i can’t really understand that decision (not because it’s my favorite car but because it’s just a unique one) …

Anyone does have any idea why whould they choose to abandon this one in particular ?

Edit : Mod edited the title so it shows as a discussion thread for missing cars in globality.

My idea is that it is 10 years old.

DLC maybe?

Well, yes but… It seems a little bit awkward to suddently start selling cars present in the game for years as DLC’s don’t you think ?

As much as I miss the Speed 8, if its appearance as DLC is indicative of a trend – the trend of T10 going back to the old model well YET AGAIN – I’ll gladly skip it for more new-to-series cars.

But it hasn’t changed really at all this time around, has it? Not from the last two games, anyway.

They have done it, and will continue to do it.

There could be lots of reasons. Car rosters change from game to game … always have, always will. There could be a newer model of a similar car being added. There could be changes in licensing from game to game. There could be stats that show that a particular car is not used much. They could have just decided they want to make a change on their own. Who knows why.

Even considering many of the 700+ cars are just duplicate liveries there’s still a massive amount of unique cars and we’ll still likely see 75-100 more before its all said and done. As cool as that sounds that’s just an overwhelming number. My problem is that T10 really had a chance to distinguish the car lists of the two games by leaving the overload of 4x4s in favor of adding more race oriented vehicles. Leave the road only cars in the road only game and and populate the track only game with a multitude of race cars.

The Speed8 is just one example here. Yes let’s leave a van in the game and cut some of the most iconic race cars of all time.

I’ve edited the title because this question comes up every game and isn’t limited to one specific model.

If there’s official news on something, like Toyota, I’ll put it in the Cars List thread at the top of the forum. Otherwise nobody can answer the question. Here’s a general response to the question from Jon Knoles (answered before FM7):

Thank you for answering me, didn’t expect to have a dedicated mod to participate
However, despite my care reading (or so i hope) of this long quote, i still can’t see any probable reason :

  • Make room for another car : I think i don’t really need to explain the point here, since we all know that there are a lot of cars which shows as different despite having a simple livery change. I can’t see a way that 726 of these cars were more important than that classic Bentley LMP.
  • Disc Space, certainly not
  • Game Design balance : Let’s assume that and justify it by saying it was removed because it was an old LMP car and was not “competitive” anymore : Forza has always displayed a large variety of vehicles, from early 1940 to present, a lot of them would not be competitive anymore in any class they were firstly made to be competitive on and we all know it has never been a determining factor. That’s exactly why there are engine swap and other modifications available so an old 1950 car can still compete with recent ones. I could give a lot of cars that should not have made it to the list if that was a prominent factor.
  • higher trim/redudant : Since there is no newer LMP Bentley in the game to replace it, i’ll take that as a nope as well.

So again, i can’t really figure what was the decision that motivated that removal.
I do hope it’ll show in a Forzathon, i really do, because LMP doesn’t feel the same without vintage LMP cars.

And forgive me if some sentences are incorrect, english is not my native language and it’s sometimes hard to explain technical arguments when knowledge of that language is not accurate. It’s a good practice though !

Thanks for leaving it up rather than locking, Manteo.

I do have a question though because you mention leaving one car in over another car because it was felt one was more important than the other. So are you saying the Ariel Nomad is more important than many of the missing race cars in the game that doesn’t have an environment to showcase the Nomad? I wouldn’t use the Nomad in the example if FM7 had tracks which the Nomad was built for.

Edit: when I posted you hadn’t included quotes for JONK and looked like it was your words.

It was in Horizon so it was likely an easy port over. Then again there are a bunch of people who like to see if they can get a weird car to be somewhat decent online. Nomad would also be very good in games like Tag.

Gotta fill DLC quotas. [Mod Edit - defaming removed, extended ban for multiple strikes - MM]

  1. Defaming Turn 10 is prohibited by forum rules and mostly because it’s based on baseless, amateurish, bad critical thinking that isn’t suitable for civilized communities.
  2. Of the 100+ DLC cars in FH3, 24 had been in previous Forza games, and half of those were in two themed packs (Motorsport All-Stars, and Porsche). Meanwhile they added 33 cars to the game for free through content updates.

It might have to do with how the car divisions are set up. “Forza P1” is for current-ish generation prototypes like the Audi R15/R18. The next one down is “Early Prototype Racers” which includes the BMW V12 LMR back to the Porsche 962.

My theory is that the Speed 8 & Audi R8 (also not in the game) are in an odd spot and would require either a new division or placement in one of the others listed above. They could, however, just not be up-to-date enough. Your guess is as good as mine.

Im hoping we will get them back as forzathon rewards.

Unless there is a Offroad/Dirt/Ice Track DLC in the works, it would seem that many of the “Off-road” Cars would be redundant for a game that is as we know now, limited to asphalt/concrete tracks.

Perhaps it will be a car that rotates through the “Specialty Vendor”…

Hoping the same for a few of the models we are missing.

Particularly the 2015 Z/28… We need it to go up against the GT350 and M4 GTS, the ZL1 is really more of a grand tourer version of the Camaro than a track special.

I think the specialty vendor vehicles are already known to be cars that appeared on the released list, nothing hidden.

Probably because it’s an old LMP car now. Barely anyone wants to drive around in the old Speed 8 or the old R8, especially when there’s newer LMP cars in the game. I expect the same to happen to the Peugeot LMPs next game.
