Really think the demo is great but I’m still a little bit sceptical so going to wait for player reviews, there are a few promising driving related games set for release including crew, drive club, & project car’s and I can’t afford them all so I’m going to play the wait and see approach, not that I think horizon 2 is going to be a poor game just the opposite infact but I got caught up in the Forza 5 hype train and ended up swapping it in and being a big forza fan I never I’d do that much like horizon 1 the game was ok but never really imho lived up to its hype imho.
So am I the only one that is going to play the waiting game? I know many of you are mega excited about its release and eager to fire it up and I hope it meets expectations with you as it’s your reviews and comments I’ll be reading
I’m not gonna buy it. Main reason being the game oozes cheese. plus i don’t really like the offroad stuff, the days are too short wich makes it kinda stupid. Seeing 20 sunsets a day will become pretty boring very quick. And it also makes the shadows move in steps. ( don’t know how to phrase this better) maybe if things change over time i’ll buy it in discount.
I’m talking about a 24h day. In real life the shadows don’t move in steps every 2 seconds. :d But yeah off course to each their own. Thats why i gave my points for not buying this game and you give yours for buying it.
Cheesy? Sure, but who cares about a story in a racing game… as for the sunsets, the days and nights are much longer in the full game, the demo was set to rain a lot and change time of day quickly to show off how it looks. I personally didn’t notice any shadow issues but maybe i just don’t care about shadows enough. I’m just ready to catch up to my buddy who works for wired who’s already a quarter or the way through the game.
The Crew is Ubisoft’s take on the Need for Speed Franchise - too arcadey for my taste, though I do like the expansive map and varied locations. One thing I do miss that the Crew has and do wish gets added to FH in the future are cop chases - fun, fun, fun!
Drive Club, wonderful looking graphics, but gameplay looks too generic based on the videos I’ve seen on youtube. Looks like the automotive version of Destiny - lots of nice eye candy, but not enough substance.
Project Cars is a big question mark for me, due to previous Slightly Mad Studios (SMS) titles - Shift and Shift 2. Again, great eye candy with S and S2, but the driving felt disconnected and weird. It’s as if the developers focused too much on rendering the best visuals and effects (crash vision impairment and shaky cockpit/helmet cam anyone?) that they ignored the vitally important aspect of driving response and feel. I somehow always felt that there was a full second delay with my input (steering, acceleration, braking, etc.) and what was happening on screen. So hopefully, SMS does put out a demo so I can decide if they have addressed my issues with their previous titles or if it’s more of the same before I give them my hard earned cash.
All indications (which I’ve gathered from interviews and 2nd hand accounts) is that Project cars will be the next great console circuit racing title similar to Forza Motorsports and Gran Turismo. It sounds like at its highest difficulty, it will be more difficult than either established sim type title. But the difficulty can be dialed back. But it’s strength is that it was backed and paid for by racers who had input into the development. So things like custom race liveries, animated pit stops, pit strategy, endurance racing, day/night transitions and weather all at 60fps - are all confirmed to be included. Neither existing “sim” title have all of these features so it is hoped it will be a massive step forward for the circuit racing crowd. - I buying it for sure. We just have to wait ans see for ourselves if the physics are good and if the game lives up to the hype.
As far as Forza Horizon goes - if this is your kind of game, it received a 9.0 on IGN so I don’t think you need wait for player reviews especially if you like the demo!
Personally it’s not my kind of game, it looks fun and graphics looks awesome but never cared for the festival atmosphere in the 1st game, and driving up to 200mph on public roads and barreling through fields in super cars is a bit too unrealistic to me. (Although I do enjoy doing exactly this in GTA V.) With all that said, I’ll be picking up Horizon 2 because my kids want it!
I agree the off-road stuff is not really my thing, but it’s really cool and the game is forgiving enough to allow you to say on four wheels unless you make an egregious error in physics to which the reaction of being catapulted into the air or overturning is the meted payback. It’s really cool knocking down fences and grass and signs and certain but not all lampposts and telephone booths and table and chairs. The fact that you can veer off the road at any time in any car during a road trip is cool too. Forza Horizon 2 is about the FUN or driving, not racing –that’s what Forza Motorsport 5 is for. With over 700 events including showcases where you race against trains, planes, jets and helicopters, online free roving, barn fines and so much more including driving the coastline of Cote d’Azur and you mount on over to Monaco, I really don’t see why anyone would wait to buy this game. Jump in and let’s have some fun driving around Southern Europe!
I do like the more sim style game but F5 never really did it for me but that said I also like the pick up and play arcade style and I thought the demo was very good but I’m keen to hold out and see what the crew has to offer, map size is quite important to me.
I can only really afford two game one sim style and one arcade style, a friend has played project car’s and he said he was blown away by it nothing like shift interms of physics and graphically brilliant but I guess we’re just have to wait and see.
Horizon 2 for the most part from what I can get from the demo hits the fun spot for me but horizon 1 was just too short and had not replay value for me I’m hoping 2 is a larger game and not just pumped out with the likes of the 1000 mile club.
I’m holding back, but only on the demo
I’ve had the one version ordered as soon as I could, as much as elements of recycling in Forza seriously annoys me the first game was by far the most amazing and immersive game I’ve played, initially I was sceptical of the location switch but I can’t wait to cruise around listening to pulse again, this IS the reason I have my xbox one.
Just a little bit excited now, please can we have a BMW M4 thought, pretty please!
No waiting here, I’ve been waiting for this release for a while now. I played the demo for about 15 minutes just to make sure it was day one worthy. Pre-ordered it right after playing the demo, only a few more days to go!!!
Not really interested in any of the other racers except Project Cars, which I won’t buy day one, but rather wait for reviews and opinions from people on these forums.
Exactly, games are so big and complex now that there are bound to be issues. As long as they are only small that’s ok. If they’re big it can put off potential buyers, and we want to expand the Forza family.
