Who decided to give the player so little agency?

Even more insulting is running that pole-position lap and not being able to start any higher than 3rd because this game really wants you to use the Challenge the Grid “feature”. Tell me again - why is a proper race weekend so difficult to implement? Practice as long as you want (or within a reasonable time limit for multiplayer), 2-3 laps (or 10 minutes for MP) to qualify, and then the race. Simple. NASCAR 98 on the PS1 had this figured out more than 25 years ago.

Along with the so-called “risk vs. reward feature” that barely awards pocket change.

Im all for choice when its warranted, but this is a game and needs a gameplay loop or structure of some kind. If you make the game more challenging, you get more rewards. If you just enjoy racing, then the rewards usually dont matter.

You slightly boast about setting a pole lap and start in last, acknowledge you can raise the difficulty but thats how you want to play, but then complain about the reward you receive. You have options to make more credits, yet youre choosing not to do so.

I know this comment may make operator mad because it might seem like giving ultimatums, but im sorry these are ridiculous statements. The game is what it is, it may seem like some sort of automotive playground do whatever you want, but its not, there are requirements to earn credits.

There are numerous ways to do so, which is why the economy is the way it is. If you choose one specific way to earn money without maximizing that scenario, thats on you, thats your choice.

More options = more appeal to more players = more people for us all to play the game with.

I think it was an improvement when the game added:
• more options for acquiring upgrades (using credits to buy Car Points)
• more options for acquiring credits (like the Challenge Hub)
• more options for acquiring exclusive cars (not just from completing single-player career events, but alternatively from completing featured multiplayer races).

I would welcome even more options.

More options are always welcome, but i dont think there should be an option for getting unlimited rewards for the bare minimum. I also dont think if they reverted back to throwing credits and free cars at people it would bring that many people back.

Maybe im just old and come from a different era when things took a little more time and effort. I remember getting platinum medals for every event in Project Gotham Racing 2, it was one of the most challenging things I’ve ever had to do in a racing game, but i did it and the reward for the career was the Tvr Speed 12, the fastest car in the game.

Almost no one had it online as it was very difficult to obtain. Unfortunately pgr2 was one of the first games to have dlc, for $5 you could get all the top cars as opposed to my hours upon hours of playtime. This was very upsetting to me at the time as it didnt seem fair to me, the only consolation being the dlc version was locked to one color where if you earned it you had your choice so people knew how you got it.

Fast foward 20 years later to hear people dont want to do this or that to earn credits so they can just play how they want to play, just seems a little much. I barely play this game and i havent had less than 15 million credits in months. I buy every car needed for career events, buy any car required for rivals when i choose to do them, buy the monthly discounted cars every month, buy whatever random cars i might want to have, still have over 15 million.

I said it in the other thread, i dont really care if the rewards were less, more or stayed the same. I like to race, racing in this game earns you credits, so the more i race the more credits i earn, pretty simple. I race on the highest ai difficulty and expert rule set to maximize my rewards. I think everyone regardless of their skill level should try to maximize their rewards.

Maybe I’m just old and I don’t miss how grindy games from a different era were.

Luckily for you modern games arent as grindy. Id say the problem with this game is its grind isnt particularly fun, which means the rewards whether monetarily for you or sense of accomplishment for someone like me are lacking.

Stop policing how I choose to play the game.

Stop telling me I’m not playing the game correctly.

I don’t tell you how to have your fun. Do not tell me how to have mine.

I have never said I wanted unlimited credits for doing nothing. Only that I would appreciate the game being more generous with rewards for my time played.

If you cannot stop replying to my comments and telling me I’m wrong about how I want to experience the game, then block me and do not reply.

I currently have a 4080 super (yeah I upgraded) 5800X3d, and 64G of pretty fast RAM, Game is on a very fast SSD- my system exceeds the “ideal” spec in every possible way- and it still stutters.

You can run the benchmark tool 10x, and seemingly get 10 different results without changing any settings. I currently have everything maxed out, FPS unlocked with Vsync on- during the benchmark the stutter count will be 0 (or 2 at most), but the game will still randomly stutter and get choppy (all while showing 60FPS) for no discernible reason.

I upgraded in the hopes of improving the performance of this (and other) game. For most of the others, the improvement was worth it, but if you’re doing it JUST for this game, it isn’t worth the effort.

I didnt do either of those things. Im not telling you anything other than theres more ways to make credits. Your specific play styles are perfectly acceptable and so are the credits you make from them. Once again its your choice how you play or what you enjoy, but the games economy has to be balanced throughout many different play styles and many peoples types of enjoyment.

Genuinely interested. You want more rewards and you acknowledge you could raise the difficulty and get some but choose not to. Why?

The AI is awful but starting from last at lvl 8 is a challenge now compared to how the game launched.

Why should he? The game is going to cap how much you walk away with regardless, even if you max out everything. I run at 7, and if you go through the Featured Tours like I’m doing, even if you run the full practice session at every event and start at the back and win the race…you’re only coming away with 35,000 credits, give or take a few hundred. The Tours offer no added benefit to boosting the difficulty or coming in 1st, 2nd, or 3rd except for the car you get at the end for completion.

There is a higher reward as you go up through the difficulties isn’t there? I’m not sure how much it is as I only use 8.

You can also change the rules for additional payout.
Whether the payout is enough is a separate discussion point. He’s saying he wants more credits yet is choosing to not maximise the payout. I’m just wondering why.

The payouts are smaller but the cars are a lot cheaper, upgrading cars is where it gets expensive and that’s the legacy from the carpg system.

There is, but it’s effectively couch change. It does not move the needle in any appreciable manner. I could drop it to 4 or lower and the take would be virtually unchanged.

The increased payout is not commensurate with the increased difficulty.
The “risk vs reward” is a noticeable jump in difficulty paired with a barely noticeable baby step in payout.
Not enough incentive to bother with the increased “challenge” of dealing with these janky AI drivers.
Not enough incentive to “risk it for the biscuit” crumbs.

I feel exactly the same way it’s not just what you mentioned tho the Tyre model feels very inconsistent I’m either under steering or over steering even when i have tuned 8 points of contact isn’t ‘‘realistic’’ Like real world Data & please get rid of the horrible under steer when the tyres are worn either have it neutral or drastically Reduce the under steer when the tyres are worn its not Realistic

Wish they’d make the multiplayer like fm7. No practice or qualifying, grid position set by last race’s lap time. Much more races that way. Get rid of the penalty system as it still gets it wrong sometimes. Stop telling me what races I have to do this week!!! Let ME choose what car class to race!! I haven’t played this game for months, just look in here every now and then to see if they’ve pulled their heads out their hole.

Same here. Yesterday I just had enough from FM(8), uninstalled, and installed FM7.
It felt like coming home, a reminder why I love the series (and FM7 isn´t even my fav).

On PC, both games on Ultra, FM7 looks a lot better.
Sure, FM(8) has more modern tech, but it´s like noone at Turn10 knows what to do with it.
It´s simply unbalanced visually, nothing fits together.

Also, driving in FM7 feels a lot more dynamic, more lively. That´s due to better audio, better controller feedback, better road feedback, better camera feedback. In comparison FM(8) feels strangely dull.

Well I could go on and on, but what it boils down to is: FM(8) is the first Forza game that is not really fun to play for me.
Just like the visuals, nothing fits together.
Instead of being a good “simcade” racer, the sim and the arcade parts work against each other.
