Movable camera in menus (upgrades, paint, Buy/My Cars, ForzaVista)

There should be control over camera on car upgrade screen (so that you can’t clearly see visual parts applied) and in ForzaVista mode when inside the car or under the hood (close-up on engine), just like in any other Forza game.

EDIT: I forgot to specify that the issue concerns controlling camera with right stick on controller in ForzaVista, left stick works.

EDIT2: This thread was moved from THub to SHub so I changed wording a bit

That you can zoom in if your working en tuning your car like in forza horizon

When you look at the cars engine and when you get in the car you cant look around, not up,down, left, right
This seems to happen at all cars

Also rightstick “zoom” isnt working in vista and painting

The new Motorsport needs to have the option to move the camera when installing body and rim parts, as in the case of rims we see the wheel head-on but not from the side, and cant get a good idea if the wheel depth / ofset is what Im looking for or not (I like rims where the center is sunken in compared to the outer edge, and it`s hard to judge from head-on)

This would also be useful when equipping bumpers, skirts, hoods and wings, as seeing the car from as many angles as possible really helps when making a decision. I also found that in some cases the camera positions itself in such a way that I cant see the part Im trying to install at all (when checking the hoods for the MX-5, the camera automaticly positioned itself in such a way that the hood was obstructes by the stats part of the UI)

After playing FH5 for a while, there are a bunch of little quality of life things that make this game feel very limiting, like no longer being able to move the camera around freely.

True!

And why cant we Start up the Cars anymore and listening to the Sound???

What is wrong with the Developers?

Sitting in the Car and looking onto a dead Dashboard.
This is Forza Motorsport in 2023???
THIS IS A JOKE !!!
I go on playing GT7. I was so excited about the new Forza. What a huge letdown this Game is for me.
Lack of so many Details. Embarrassing.

Agreed, i would also add that the lighting in this room is not ideal. It would be great if there will be some more studio lights added to get the car well lit from all sides.

Agreed. How can you see how the new body color looks when camera is randomly switching around and shows garage floor?

Not being able to start the cars like we have been in several previous titles is very annoying and a big disappointment. But it dawned on me this might be on purpose since so much of the car audio is complete trash.

In the new Forza Motorsport 2023. For the life of me why did you guys take out the ability to move the camera when upgrading the car or painting the car while purchasing?? This was a fantastic feature in FH5. Why are we going backwards in progress here man?? I get either a Un-centered view of the car, Too far Zoomed in view, Or off-angle where I can’t see the whole car or even what I want to upgrade. When I am picking Rims I want to see the whole car and look at it from angles to see if it fits the car properly. Or, When choosing anything of the body-kit stuff, Like the hood for example, Its more focused on the rims. Spoiler? Meh, All you need to see is the back apparently. Instead of the moveable camera, We have to wait for random angles that isn’t what we want to come on to maybe halfway see the car. Please add this BACK in. Taking an extremely useful feature, SIMPLE feature out is mind boggling to me.

I’m not sure if Turn 10 forgot that we all like to look at our upgraded parts w/ free camera however I’ve noticed you cannot move the camera around. This makes it super difficult to select hoods and spoilers, for example:

I agree. Being able to change camera angles while choosing paint or body parts is generally a basic feature in racing games and previous Forza games IIRC. Another annoyance that racing games often have (not necessarily this game, although I’m not sure) is how different the lighting is when choosing colors from how it looks everywhere else in the game, resulting in an undesired look. It’s like how character creation menus have faces that keep moving and don’t have good angles and lighting, and the character looks horrible after 20-30 minutes of tweaking.

I don’t know if this is the right category.

Anyway, in the new Forza Motorsport we don’t have free camera movement anymore. It’s only available during races, creating liveries and Photo Mode.

I would love to have it back for:

  • Countdown at race start
  • In the Upgrade menu
  • In all Paint menus
  • When viewing a car in the Autoshow (or what it’s called)
  • Anywhere else it used to be available

This will make the GUI and overall experience a lot better! Thanks

In the livery editor in Forza Horizon 5 and previous Motorsport titles, clicking the right stick and pushing it forward/backward allowed you to dynamically zoom the camera in order to get as close to or as far as you would like from the car when placing shapes.

In Forza Motorsport, this feature isn’t present and clicking the stick only moves between three preset positions.

Yes, the lack of dynamic zoom is very frustrating and makes painting (especially in the current dimly lit environment) more difficult than in previous Forza titles.

I’ve upvoted (is that an actual word?) this suggestion, but I’m not going to use the Livery Editor. I was really hoping for something fundamentally new, but this is worse than Horizon 5. I just hope my favourite creators make the move to FM so I can use their fantastic efforts.

We need free cam in the performance section. It’s impossible to tell a wheels dimensions when you’re looking straight on at it. You also can’t see the rear wheels in order to gauge if you like the look of them

Allow us to move the camera around in the upgrades menu so that we can get a better feel for the rims we buy.

I could not agree more! I really hope they’ll add the free look camera back! Also the lightning and backdrop while upgrading makes it really hard to see how it actually looks. And the rims colours are all just plastic. The aluminium and chrome styles look exactly the same - they’re just white plastic.

And I know it’s the wrong thread but please add neon underglow to cars. And maybe the ability to change interior lighting

This locked camera panning the car at weird angles is terrible, please give us a free moving cam.
