I really liked Forza 5. I read a lot of bad opinions on it but I enjoyed it. I played the demo of FH2 and it felt too arcade-y for me. I’m trying to decide which version of FM6 to buy. I like the idea of the Ultimate version with the Car Pass and VIP but don’t like that I can’t buy a physical copy. I also know I’ll never drive anywhere near the 450+? cars in the game. I usually buy the disc version so I can trade it in at least for something when I get tired of it. For those who have bought the Ultimate version who aren’t hardcore racing fans, was it worth it or is the standard version plenty?
I think the Ultimate Version of the game is worth it for me. I do tend to play racing games more than anything else though.
My one concern was the lack of a disc copy but I figure once the price of the traded in discs drops to a reasonable amount I can go to gamestop and buy a disc.
lol ppi, you are tier 9 and r class license. you are not what i would call casual.
i would go for physical. then you can sell it or give it away. you dont need vip or the extra cars if you dont think you can even use the 450 cars you certainly have no use for 500 cars yet, and if you decide you want them later you can buy the car pass later and be sure before spending the money. all vip does is give you extra xp which gets you extra credits to spend. you can earn credits easy enough anyway. if there is a single dlc car or two you want to try you can buy the cars even individually and save money over the packs. if selling is entering your mind already go physical. when if you sell it you can have played 2 games for the price of ultimate, say halo5 or fallout4 for free. you are basically deciding forza until you get bored of it then halo or fallout, or forza forever for the same price.
in fact backward compatability is coming to xbox one soon . i would recommend skipping fm6 for now and buying used copies of fm3 ultimate and fm4 (avoid “essentials” like the plague, its only half the game) adding a few dollars and picking up hal5 and fallout 4 for probably $40 more than ultimate. you should enjoy fm3 and 4 more than fm5 unless you like downloading free paint jobs most about the game. 4 games, all of which you can sell and make more than the $40 extra back or keep forever would be logical to me. you can also buy and sell the cars you dont have or dont want online either cheaper or for credits in the older forzas.
I’m a casual player, I got the standard disc copy (pre order with some useless, 10 year edition, extra cars), and it’s fine by me.
Just out of curiousity, why would anyone buy the disk version if they already have the digital version? Personally I LOVE digital versions, keeps my disk bay free for other things.
rdo3 you’re right.
I think that just for a casual player the standard disc version is more than enough. It provides all the fun of the game at a lower cost, slightly less content, but you get the ability to sell the game.
Digital Games don’t always work out the way they should. If XBL servers go down, you want to play offline, or something with the service providing the digital content is not working your game does not work. This is frustrating and it’s an issue I’ve faced every once in a while with the Xbox consoles and digital content.
With a disc copy you can play whenever you’d like, with or without internet, regardless of any issues Microsoft and Xbox are facing at the time.
The only way to get the discount and Ultimate Edition content was the digital copy. Eventually the game will drop in price and I’ll find myself with a $20 in hand and can get it. Then I can play anytime I want and have all the content.
For this reason, I would also recommend that the casual player stick to the physical copy of the game.
Thank you all. I actually just went out and bought the disc version. Like most people said it should definitely be more than enough to keep me entertained and hopefully get some trade in value back if I get tired of it.
Thanks again!
