I’m gonna be completely honest and say I didn’t like motorsport 7s music at all, but was removing any racing music really the best option? (I personally really like the menu music and before race music in FM8) Or was it a design choice to keep you more engaged with the car? I find my last guess to be pretty unlikely, since after a few hours of playing I’ve yet to hear a car that doesn’t like a vacuum cleaner…
oof man, i’m bouta come back in a year or something, cause right now… this game is turning my mind into a pretzel.
I have always turned in race music off in Forza games since about Forza 4. The music is terrible, I prefer just listening to the car sounds and if I do want music I just stick on Apple Music app in the background.
I’m fine with them not wasting any money on licensing music and then weirdly censoring it later. I wouldn’t like most of it anyway. If I really feel like I need music while racing I can cue some up that I definitely like on a nearby device.
I’m speaking as someone who really likes motorsport 4 and 5s music personally. I honestly wouldn’t be surprised if they already made a full soundtrack, but just decided not to use it. On another note, I’m a little confused about what you said with licensing. Motorsport typically hires a composer to personally make the music for their game. So I don’t see licensing being an issue.
The car sounds are the best they have ever been in any car game I’ve played, yet the OP says they sound like vacuum cleaners? You can actually hear them behind you, beside you,in front of you,and they sound different too.You probably drive a tesla… AND use onboard sound.
I use a Jds labs element 2 amp/dac and a pair of Beyerdynamic Tygr 300r headphones, so on the equipment front I’m good. But after playing Horizon 5 the sounds just don’t do it for me, I’m sure that there’re some golden sample cars for sound, but in my playthrough I’ve found none and now the game just crashes anyway.
Hey, I just got on to give the game another chance and played some freeplay with different cars, and I have to agree that the audio is really great, especially with hearing the other cars and directionality. Unfortunately my first impressions with the intro cars and my first builders cup cars weren’t great, and I was more distracted with the pc performance and dull visuals at 1440p.
Yes it was. I always turn off inrace music on motorsport. FM7 was the first one I also had to turn off menu music.
Motorsport race music never really added anything to the experience. Thats more of a Horizon thing. If you liked it in the older games thats cool. I just think it isnt necessary. They just didnt bother with it. Because they’re lazy. Telling you to put on a playlist isnt an answer because you’re bringing an issue up about the decision not to have it in the game itself.
85% of the cars I’ve driven sound absolutely phenomenal.
New to racing sims I guess? Go listen to AC sounds, or better still iRacing. The sounds are phenomenal. In this, the are “passable” but lack a lot of oomph, no dynamic range (fyi sound engineer, muso here with a high end audio system so no, it’s not my gear).
Then you haven’t played many. The sounds, as I mentioned above, are lacking dynamics and sound quite weak. Very highly compressed audio samples with no variation in volume. Passable, but not extraordinary. Your gear is ok, but what I’m using exposes every weakness in recordings, I guarantee with my ear being a sound engineer I have far more of an insight than you do.
So no, the sounds are not the best in any car game, not even close.
Didn’t know Forza was such a serious race sim. This is also my first time using forums, so I’m a little surprised lol. I’m a more casual motorsport player personally.
Fully agree that the dynamics are still lacking. Even in Horizon 5 which has an Lfe setting and a Home theater preset, it’s still missing a lot of range. Hopefully some day turn 10 can use the full capabilities of higher end equipment.
I honestly i like racing games that has in race music. But removing it all is just not a good decision.
I understand how some people are so serious like “it’s a sim game. music should be off! So you can focus on lap time etc…” but at least give an option for those who would want in race music to turn it on and turn it off for those who don’t want it.
Playing music in the background can be annoying too because you turn it on and off once you start race and finish so it wouldn’t interfere with the menu music.
I honestly think FM7 had good music, but they didn’t make specific ones for race and for menu separately. And it was playing in all stages like menu and race and continues playing it anywhere you go which ruined their music and made them annoying. The best collection of music was in FM3 and FM4.
But i think the reason why they chose not to add in race music is just to save money. Which makes sense.
I wish at least they make an option for music integration like how they promised in FM7 and how they did it in FH3 with Groove music before they were shut down. Or at least bring music collection like FM3 or FM4.
