This is my first Forza game. Has the music always been so soft and boring like this? Shouldn’t racing games have faster/up tempo type of songs? The music puts me to sleep sometimes. Even my wife said the music was girly for a racing game.
Gran turismo is actually worse (although you can use you own music as well)
I just turn it off and listen to the amazing engine sounds .
This 100%,this is a racing game, last i checked race cars have no radio!
Turn it off and put some live sets from soundcloud on pumping through the speakers turn you TV up and enjoy music and game sound
does that work? as i’ve tried a music app on there before, but when i switch back to Forza it stops playing any other apps running.
i have it turned off too, i dont think you can win with music on this game, forza is a serious motorsport racing game, so if you had techno/dance stuff it would make it feel arcadey (i hate that stuff anyway) and you have plenty of arcade racers with that kind of music. If you had metal in then it would alienate a huge chunk of the audience too. I think putting classical in is a safe bet, its not too intruding and its just in the backgound, or you can turn it off, listen to the engines (which I find crucial for gear changes) or you can put your own stereo on etc and listen to your prefered choice.
I cant wait for xbox update that wil let you play your own mp3’s from USB like the 360 could, mind you quite often on the 360 playing Forza 4 and USB music player at same time would crash my 360.
What music? There’s music?
I never have music playing while I’m racing on the track. I need to focus on the engine & tire sounds. So on FM5, I have all music off, including menus.
Now on FM3, I loved the music so I left it on for the menus only. FM3 soundtrack ruled imho. Only Forza game where I liked the music for menus.
I think you’ll find the music Turn 10 has implemented into the recent line-up of Forza Motorsport titles (3 through 5) is indicative of the player’s preference. Most turn the in-game music off, particularly during the races. For these reasons, what point is there for Turn 10 to buy up a bunch of expensive licenses for music that is going to be muted anyhow?
In terms of the menus - I can agree that it is somewhat dreary, but I do think the team is looking to instill that sense of elegance and maturity (reminiscent of the Gran Turismo series). Looking forward, I don’t expect any of this to drastically change.
I turned off the music altogether. When I want to listen to music, I just play it on my computer (which is right behind me when I’m playing the One). In the very first FM, I actually created a “Driving Music” playlist and set the options up so the game would use it in races only (this option hasn’t been back since that original game, tho) and I found that every time one of my favorite songs started playing, it distracted me from racing.
Only music i enjoyed in a racing game was the first Grid, and that was the music they played after the race, they had some cool music.
Turn it off then …u play the game its not Top of the pops… try dance if u want music…
Engine sound… can’t think of better music.
Like many others, I immediately turned off the music.
But… I have to reply, 'cause that gave me a really good chuckle!

I don’t think Ive even heard the music on FM1,2,3 or 4, although I did leave it on in FH. In your opinion the music is rubbish, however there have been people on the forums looking to buy the soundtrack which just goes to prove you cant please ALL the people …EVER.
Luckily you can turn the music off and listen to what you choose to, if not through the Xbox itself then from another sound source although I would make sure you can still take sound cues from the cars engine and tyres.
The first thing i do with every race i’ve owned is go to the settings menu and turn it off. Rather listen to the cars, even in games where they sound like vacuum cleaners.
