Where are the Forza enjoyer like me?

Likewise, constantly getting the same thing over and over again, without any delineation from the set course hurts but in a different way. I’m happy that the change happened, because it was becoming derivative and bland. It won’t please everyone. And that’s fine. They can add the derivative version back for those who want it, but keep the new version for those who don’t. Players can choose which way they play. It shouldn’t have to be a one-size-fits-all approach anyway. The earlier Forzas were great for that… ever since they added the PI limit to races in 4, the series had fallen apart slowly.

FM is a good racing game, and when you look at YT what the racers say about, they are happy. Not that the game is without flaws, but it is a good racer.

What FM is not (anymore):

  • it is not a car collector game
  • it is not a “i want to instantly race in any available car - game”
  • it is not a car trading platform
  • it has no “arcadeifiaction / gamification” - i.e. Top Gear games on a racing track as mandatory career elements, mods from crates etc.
  • no fantasy / movie cars
  • there is no drag / drift support
  • and more …

And know what, that’s what Horizon is for. And IMHO it was time that X-Box / MS decided that FM needs to be what should be, a Racer and focus on that. FM and Horizon can be the best games in what they do if the target audience overlaps at minimal as necessary.

FM is not perfect, i also have things i want to see to improve. I have criticism. But it is a good (better) racing game for me. We have now fuel and tires and selection of race strategy, better weather, better NPC cars - yes, they improved, we have training and qualification.

I enjoy the game!
Don’t tell me I’m not allowed to enjoy it because your opinion!

The sheer number of cars in game is for racers secondary. they usually use a very, very limited number of cars available in the game. In the most cases the question is just “is there a good selection of cars in my preferred class and do they behave like they should” “can i have good racing in my preferred class” - And with this attitude, car leveling for instance is not even an issue or grind at all.
For me, im focused on TC, may want to drive GT soon. I will probably hot lap using some street cars once Nordschleife is available.

Things I dislike? Well, why is career so 100% focused on street cars?

In a different forum once I said that I wish that the XBOX people planned a “Microsoft Drive Simulator” because I could tell that with Forza Horizon taking the “fun” market and GT sport taking the “serious” market success Forza was in a dead end.

I think this game is that “Microsoft Drive Simulator” I wished for

In my opinion this game is finally what Microsoft wanted to make and be proud of. It is a long term project. And it will succeed in the long term.

Here and in Reddit we are just suffering the expected temporary meltdown.

I hope Turn10 does not try too counter steer too much trying to please the “community”. The progression system has already been nerfed in the first patch. If they try to please everyone the will please no one.

Never have had so much fun since the TOCA Games on PS1 back in the days. My first Forza Motorsport Game, and once you get used to it, it´s fantastic, despite of it´s obvious flaws.

Overall I am enjoying the game but there are some things that frustrate me.
First I haven’t played a racing game that is track based in a long time so I am enjoying the tracks, which all look fantastic. The career series seem to give a nice variety of both cars to use and tracks that seem suited to those types of cars (I hate when racing games have you use hypercars on go-cart tracks). I like the risk/reward option for the grid. I like that the game doesn’t make you grind endlessly for funds to buy new cars.

What I find frustrating with the game play is what I perceive to be very inconsistent braking. I am pretty good at applying the same pressure to the buttons turn after turn and lap after lap but I find that on lap 2 or 3 of the race the breaking seems to just stop working or is not nearly as effective. In these cases I’ll rewind, use the same pressure and the braking will be far stronger than it had been in any other lap in the practice or the race. Then the next few laps the braking works as expected.

Then annoyances - too many cut scenes and honestly I have never even watched the ones for starting practice, race grid flyover, the first end race one or the podium ceremony. Wish there was an option skip these. Then there is the bad menus for car selection. When reviewing cars to purchase or ones you own why does the list not loop around? Then the jump to manufacturer was done much better in the Horizon series.

All they have to do to make me happy, is fix career mode. Let me utilize pit strategy via having long races, and actual racing seasons. The carpg aspect, the actual driving, that’s all good on my end… The career is non-existent though, and for a sports game that is a crime. Imagine a football season that consisted of 4 ,1 quarter games… Or a 10 game baseball season, of 5 inning games… And those seasons not even being recorded… Just, not good. The actual driving itself, i have no complaints about.

I’m trying to be better about this myself because admittedly, I’ve been guilty of it.
For that I am sorry.

Are you unhappy?
That’s fine, and You have the right to express that.
Keep it in those threads, don’t go into Praise threads and complain.

You like the game?
That’s fine, you have the right to express that:
Don’t go into threads about problems and tell people you love it.

If you find yourself some how drawn to participate in a thread that is generally negative try and be on topic and add to the discussion with something you think could be improved.

If you find yourself in a thread about the positive aspects of the game, try and find something to add to that about the game you do enjoy or you do like.

Or, maybe just say “I understand”.

The only way this game or any of these games get better if is we are better and we all work together.

Peace everyone.

I am actively staying away from the conversations about this game’s enjoyability because as much as I enjoy parts of it, other things actively destroy that enjoyment. I’m not sure where I lie on the CarPG system, because my brain is still saying it could turn into the affinity system from Forza 4 and that would be a pendulum that swang right to the other extreme. I don’t get the penalty system in the slightest since it’s not accurate. And do not get me started on the fact that we can’t customize our rivals experience. It’s not what it’s cracked up to be, but I don’t wanna say throw it all out because there are things that are solid.

i have many hours with this game. i did enjoy it. i posted my problems else where. in conclusion i probably will not return to the game for a while or no return and back to previous titles.

I’ve cleared out plenty of posts here in case that wasn’t clear. Let me be very clear: personal attacks such as “people like you” and telling others where to go is unacceptable on the Forza forums and will draw enforcement on your account. Casting aspersions about someone’s motives - such as claims that they are shills, or perhaps professional vandals - is unacceptable.

The folks who have criticisms of the game have had more than enough opportunity to express their frustrations. A thread where other players just want to express their enjoyment of the game - and as an aside mention the the effect of relentless doom and gloom posted by some others - is not the place for that doom and gloom.

Taking threads off-topic is also not acceptable. Stick with the subject at hand and use your other posts to list all the things that this thread is not.

We won’t be able to say that T10 doesn’t read our messages, which is a good thing. I also like this game, especially for the driving, graphics and general atmosphere, too bad there are so many bugs and crashes on PC

Yes the bugs are very unfortunate, but Turn 10 isn’t the only one guilty of releasing games with bugs these days. Having said that, I miss the days of games launched in a near-perfect state. On a personal note I just qualified to level 2 as a Dante-networks engineer. I’m gonna celebrate with some racing!

the new forza motorsport “was” and i use it like that because i enjoyed the game and was going to buy me a copy once i can confirm my cpu will continue to run after the error message of “uncompatible cpu.” long story short i believe they are dealing with more than just bugs but viruses attacking the game. i did not have any problems i stated in other posts on the first release, (except graphics transparent and no rendering on ultra high settings) i hope they find out who and what is messing up a game that “was” enjoying to play. my microsoft store rating/comment stands and i wont change it til they add that game feature

I enjoy the fact that because of cars lvl my friends bought acc so we can continue our championship

Yes, there are others. I like the game quite a bit. I think game crashed once for me and I was able to tweak it looking good to me. And I have played every day for 3 weeks.

As new Forza player, there are many new tracks for me. So, I have been going through Builders Cup so far. And I am bit wondering where all that hate against the AI comes from. In general I have fun racing them. Yes they could be bit more daring to get back the position I take from them and it is not necessary to run out of track when I get inside in the corner. In the beginning of the race there always is quite a pile up, but if I keep my nose out of the worst of that, the rest of the race is pretty clean racing. Some surprise breaking here and there yes, but I would expect this kind of things to happen with human players as well. All in all, not brilliant one, but seems to be far from the worst every also.

Graphics took bit too much tweaking to get it looking good and not drop 10-20 frames in the 2nd race, but now it looks good. I happened to try pCARS 2 with Road America which I just drove in Forza and that made me realize how good the FM actually looks.

I guess the major thing that keeps me happy with the game is probably the fact it met my expectations. When I heard the new FM will be live service, it meant to me: It will be launched as vary barebones form and new content and features will be added rather regularily. So, I jumped in to stay for long haul. I also checked the reviews before pulled the trigger to buy the Premium Edition to get playing bit sooner and got the DLC bit cheaper. Well, it is new game. So, I was also refund the game, if I bumped into major stability issues.

I also think the AI does a decent job. I’ve been able to thread the needle between them without having to be afraid of too much aggression. They do break down too much in sections but I’m just on medium difficulty, getting to grips (literally) to wheel and pedals.

Love the game. It’s not perfect, but it is fun. Was hoping to share some of the joy on this forum but it seems to be mostly people complaining. Oh well. Really enjoyed getting the AMC Rebel to level 50, and the E46 is a blast. Just a few examples that come to mind. It is really cool to me to be able to slowly get to know the handling/performance characteristics of a car and slowly improve them and adjust my driving over time.

I’m totally with you!

I also think its great to have a complex physics/sim like game tinkered for gamepad, keep in mind that domain is pretty niche. contrary to mainstream racing games.

Hope ppl will sort out issues, but overall I think that new forumla is not broadly accepted for casual racers, time to adapt I guess ?
