After hearing about the new Forza, I was excited.

Then I heard there wouldn’t be wheel support “until later”, so I was disappointed.

Then, I wanted to see when it would be available and instead of finding a clear discussion on how the developer is addressing this VERY IMPORTANT attribute of a racing sim I found this thread.

Very disappointing that there seems to be disagreement over the importance of racing wheels.

I can’t help but feel I should pass along my disappointment. I don’t buy a lot of video games, but I was excited when I learned of the open beta. After learning there was no wheel support, I didn’t give it another thought. Racing without a wheel is silly and shouldn’t’ need a clever analogy to justify the importance of it. It’s possible that I would have purchased the game had there been wheel support in beta, because that would mean that I’d actually download and test the game. Since that didn’t happen, there’s basically no chance I’ll spend my money on this game.

In short, this was your opportunity lost with me. I’m an avid gamer, a streamer, and very active on social media. I can tell you that you will regret not supporting these wheels more than you know. I’m not the only one that is feeling like this and certainly won’t be the most vocal.

I agree with you, I am also very disappointed as I was very much looking forward to playing the (Forza motorsport/horizon) games on my PC with my T500RS wheel. It is shocking that a modern racing game like Forza will lack steering wheel support. games like PCars, Assetto Corsa, The Crew, Dirt Rally and every other racing game on Steam for the PC supports virtually every single steering wheel and usb peripheral on the market. for this to be an omission on Forza shows a complete lack of understanding of the PC gaming market from MS. MS has failed the xbox one to Sony’s PS4, and failed the Games for Windows/Windows Store to Steam and now it finally has a chance to redeem itself, claiming it wants to take PC gaming seriously yet here we see MS once again making very poor decisions that will turn away customers to its competition.

i agree completely, only reason kids cry about ppl wanting wheel support is cause 1. they cannot afford it them self, 2. live at home with mommy and daddy. 3. just want something to pick a fight about.

just wanna say drift streets japan had full wheel support on its beta release on steam…its a 6 dollar game.

A tragedy… ( please excuse my bad english in advance…)

Recently i found Forza 6 Apex beta by chance in the MS Store…wooohooo Forza on my PC…high fps…cool gfx…cool sound…free beta… → MUST HAVE

So i downloaded the beta, installed it, grabbed my Logitech G25 ( which is really really really the best and most used ( my personal opinion) gaming equipment i ever bought, plugged it,
went straight to SETUP and found this…wheelsupport to come. → sad gamer…went off to the fridge…got something to drink…laid back…
So it tried the keyboard, just to take a look…actually the first cars are quite well with it… though i miss the precision of the wheel totally.

Then i found the controller support for the xbox game controller…so i took my real life car to a real life tec-store and spent some buck on this funny little thing.
Plugged it, configured it tested it…man i can not drive a car with my thumbs… → …went off to the fridge…got something to drink…laid back…

I really tried it, a lot of setups, alot of frustration, a lot of time and a lot of casual drinks later…again very laid back: I CAN NOT DRIVE A CAR WITH MY THUMB ON A MICROCONTROLLERSTICK.

Bottom line…spent a lot of time, some bucks and i am still frustrated.

Such a cool game, sound, gfx, trakcs and cars, even the physics seem quite good ( and i do some RL physics coding, greetings to Dr. Beckmann , thanks for your support for ROR)… but i can not drive a car with my thumbs. lol

I rarely beg…reallly…rarely is even not matching it… but…PLEASE…release a patch with some wheelsupport. Do not make the beta testers turn away by frustration…

PC gamers can not drive cars with their thumbs…did i mention that before ?

P.S.: A friend of mine (an xbox owner) told me …“You get used to it”…actually i answered: I do not want to. So: Please…Wheelsupport.

I was able to get my Logictech Xbox style controller to work with Forza Apex using XOutput. Will XOutput work with the Thrustmaster VG Ferrari 458 wheel?

this is t10/MS guys, don’t have high hopes your equipment will be supported, ever.
I am playing forza since fm1, I know them well

I have a thrustmaster tx, had to buy one because ms forced forzaplayers to get rid of their fanatec wheels in exchange of this plastic crp and guess what? they left me (us, wheel owners) in the dust: FM6 has serious ffb bug (at some random point a force starts turning the wheel to the left continously, no matter what ACTUALLY happens - until you “alt-tab” to “desktop” and back to game, then you are ok for 5-10 minutes again), since demo released in 2015, august(?), before the final game. Back then I thought it is a beta, a demo, nevermind.

Well, NOTHING has happened, issue not resolved, they just ignore it. If you want ffb, alt-tab every 10 minutes.

And FM6 on the one is not called a BETA.

I really don´t quite understand what the big deal with forza and wheel support is. Every other game for over a decade has had it. What is stopping them?

Is there a technical reason that makes it more complicated for them to implement?

I am quite puzzled about the lack of progress on this front.

Windows 10 doesnt have support for wheels. Im assuming its gonna come with the windows anniversary update in august.

Isnt it an individual developers job to implement the support? Im on windows 10, and raceroom, dirt rally, and project cars, iracing all work just fine on a wheel…

Wheels work fine on windows 10, they do not work however on UWP apps.

I have a Logitech momo wheel I have had for years. No support for a wheel in a racing game? This is the only reason to play Forza on the computer is to use the wheel! Might as well just play on the Xbox with my thumbs. So disappointed and shocked no wheel support in a “RACING” sim/game.

Its the UWP driver structure in Windows 10.
No DirectX 12 game can have wheel support until it’s implemented by Microsoft.
Also it’s beta and a gift. Stop whining arround. You paid no cent for it.

Beta Software is not a gift, it is part of the development process which asks the public to test the software and provide feedback. Beta software should have all the core elements working, but will usually have some bugs. Opening up software to the Public adds in finding these bugs.

The latest two Need for Speeds had wheel support both NFS 2015/6, and Rivals 2016 as well as most wanted 2012 and most all the previous NFS titles for PC had wheel support the only one that did not was the need for speed world.

What I find disturbing is the complete lack of any responses or news from the devs, do they even read this forum?
Beeing used to other franchises which have quite good relations to it’s players, this forum doesn’t seem very good…

It has been 2 months now since release and not a word, you would think in 2 months they could add wheel support. I am starting to think they can not get the wheels to work and there will be no wheel support ever, for apex or horizon. What else can we think they have said nothing at all.

Trackmania Turbo did the same thing…preordered months in advance then the game came out with no wheel support. By ‘same thing’ i mean disappointed. Forza is free so i can’t cry too much. Trackmania Turbo was like 40 bucks…luckily Steam refunded.
