Wheel settings

Hi everyone,

I tried to use the same wheel settings I had in FH4 to FH5. I noticed there are no settings for force feedback scale, center spring, wheel damper scale, force feedback understeer min force and wheel rotation angle. I have a Thrustmaster TMX on Xbox One S. Does this game set these automatically with the calibration of the wheel? I don’t understand most of these settings but used someone’s settings and it has worked perfect for me. Seems to work good on the current game but the physics are a bit different.

Hey, I have your exact same setup. Thrustmaster TMX / XboxOne S. I have all of the settings options - EXCEPT - (Wheel Rotation).
Not sure why the other settings are missing, but if using a controller to set the wheel settings options, you will only see the controller setting screen.
Need to be on the wheel to have the game auto set up the wheel options screen.

According to what I have read, XBOX is NOT currently showing the wheel rotation setting in the advanced settings menu. It should have been at the bottom of the options list. I have also read about methods of creating a false rotation by changing other settings. I haven’t tried any of these yet, so use at your own risk: - but according to others feedback, they worked pretty well.

Two methods:
1: steering deadzone set to 60% / linearity set to 25%

2: steering deadzone set to lowest - 20% - is supposed to create a 180 degree wheel rotation.
Math formula is as follows:- credit to: RampageRex37 - Every10% of linearity is equal to 90 degrees of sensitivity
100% - using this formula - it does - translate to 900 degree rotation.

Again, not tried any of these settings, as I was in search of looking for solutions myself for the rotation issue with Xbox.

Hope these help. . . .

u can change your wheel rotation on your wheel and it should work on xbox? atleast thats what i been doing… look up your manual of the thrustmaster tmx wheel and u should be able to change rotation amount because deadzones vs changing make a huge difference

The Logitech G920 isn’t even recognised by the xbox as a wheel or even a controller for that matter.
You can’t change anything except in game and yes sadly the wheel rotation setting has been removed.
Shame because i really need to have different settings on this depending on the race type.
the LSB / RSB buttons have never worked in any version of Horizon but Logitech refuse to admit it’s their issue as do Microsoft despite a number of emails to both of them.
It’s about time the two of them got together and sorted it out.

To the OP: If you use a Thrustmaster TMX, for now ignore any fiddling with the wheel settings for degrees of rotation (which don’t exist, currently) and use the mode button on the wheel base located above the "X"Box button. If you hold that button in and press Left or Right on the DPAD you’ll set the wheel to one of 4 modes, 900, then like 700, 400 and 270 or something like that. 900 and the next one down are probably the ones you want to use and you can change it on the fly.

I also use a TMX and if I may make a couple of suggestions (these are for road racing, not drifting).

Set your brake pedal to have an inner dead zone of 35. This (sort of contradictory IMHO) lets you use more of the brake pedal and brakes won’t IMMEDIATELY go into ABS mode, feels more realistic this way. Then set your accelerator pedal to like 20 or 25%, you’ll notice (same as above) you have more travel in the GO pedal and don’t immediately start spinning your tires on dirt or at start. Even with no FFB in the pedals these settings make them less “twitchy” on a TMX.

Other Settings to try:
Wheel Center Force and Wheel Dampening ought be set to ZERO for TMX wheels, these settings don’t do anything but interfere with the actual FFB you should be feeling. Won’t make the wheel respond any quicker, etc.

Bumping the FFB Scaling to 1.2 makes the wheel respond a little heavier when things get fast and dangerous, and if you are asking yourself “Gee I sure wish I could recover from spins quicker”, try lowering the…I think its the mechanical trail force…its the one that describes “lower values will make understeer feel more noticeable” (aka it will make the wheel go light)…I run that at .8.

FYI the Wheel Rotation Setting is basically hidden in FH5 on Xbox, simply by adjusting the OUTER DEADZONE for the steering axis you affect the Rotational setting.

For my Thrustmaster TMX I’ve turned the outer deadzone down from 100 (900 degrees) to about 77 (which I think is closer to about 720 or so). You will even see the change represented on the hands/wheel in cockpit view where the avatar will turn-in a little quicker than your actual wheels rotation in real life.

Good Luck.
