Wheel issue after update

After the update of today my wheel (G920) keeps rocking back and forth when I’m driving in a straight line. Are there more people who have the same problem? Is this just an issue with the new update?

I didn’t change my wheel settings after the update, it looks like my wheel can’t find the center anymore and therefor keeps rocking back and forth. Please any help is appreciated since I won’t play the game with my wheel like this.

Thank you

I got the exact same issue really annoying… Hoping for a fix soon

Try adjusting the deadzone for the wheel.

Sounds like your deadzone needs adjusting. I remember a similar problem with Grand Turismo 4 or 5 on the PS3 and they had to include deadzone adjustment as a fix. I’d also have a play with your FFB and Vibration settings in the advanced controller menu as they made some improvements to that in the update.

Check out my club too which is exclusive to wheel users or add me in Xbox live Benkid 08. Hoping to get some likeminded wheel racers together for some close competition and also to help with problems like the one your experiencing.

Adjusting the dead zone helps a little, but it makes the wheel feel more awkward. Shouldn’t be necessary adjusting the dead zone after an update. Hope they’ll fix this soon.

Its because they added the constant ffb around the center. I play with 900 dor so its not so bad but when i checked the lower dor’s it gets pretty bad. For 900 i just lowered the overall ffb. For lower dor’s adjusting the inside deadzone to 1 will help but then there is a deadzone. Even though the ffb feels much better for me at 900, they kind of used an axe instead of a scalpel when it came to this update.

This really could all be solved with additional sliders, i do hope they consider adding them. Ffb is not a one size fits all, everyone has a preference with how they play as well as every car is different and needs to be adjusted accordingly.

I would suggest you guys lower the ffb especially when using lower dor’s. It might not seem right at first but when ffb is set too high it causes clipping which essentially drowns out all the different nuances of the forces. Like for 900 ive found that the high 50s low 60s works best for a lot of cars with some vibration added in like 11.

So my suggestion is pick a track to hot lap, nothing big but one with various types of corners like hairpins and sweepers. Then pick a dor that you like and shut the vibration off then start the ffb very low, youll feel all the different types of effects, as you do laps just add 5 to the ffb until you eventually start to clip, which as i said will feel like youve lost some of the small ffb and start to feel like one big clump of force. Once you get the ffb you can than add in the vibration to whatever youd want but once again start low. The ffb slider acts like a multiplyer to vibration so the higher the ffb the stronger the vibration.

I know this may seem like some work but its necessary for every game with ffb, ive yet to play one where the settings were perfect out of the gate. But i will once again stress that when it comes to ffb less is more, i know people like to jack it up to the max but it really isnt the way to go. I guarantee your lap times will be lower with lower ffb than higher for most cars. Its all about balance, so although this update did help, everyone needs to adjust what they already had. Hopefully they add those sliders.

Thanks for the tips! This makes a lot of sense and I’ll try this out when I get the chance. I play with 900 as well, drifting just felt ridiculously awkward after this update, I feel random clumps in the middle of my transitions.

Yes you are right. Sliders need to be added and I think that will solve alot of the issues because as you FFB is not one size fits all not to mention the fact that people have different models and brands that mix things up even more.

I also play with 900 and at first the changes were very good. The racing has definitely gotten alot better and precise. However drifting is very tough with 900 now which is what I use exclusively. I have to turn the FFB up very high in order to get the wheel to return while drifting. Alot of man handling is required. It is very easy to get lost not knowing where the wheel position is after you initiate a drift and commence recovery because there is such little detail while drifting. I will say that was one good thing the strong center spring was good for… Returning the wheel to center while drifting.

But I will also check my tune on my car and see if that is the issue. I’ll make some adjustments and add a little caster to see if that livens things up a bit. If it changes things then that means this update is even better than we thought. Positive caster helps a drift car self-steer better and it adds more negative camber as you turn the wheel. So I’ll have to keep static camber in mind while making adjustments. I’ll let you all know how it goes.

TX and T3PA Pedals and TH8a shifter

I dont do much drifting so my low ffb settings might not be good for drifting, but like i said everyones different. Many people dont usually use 900 for drifting, what i would suggest is to lower your dor to 540 than you should try to adjust the sensitivity on the tx by holding the mode button than hitting lb or rb. Theres 4 sensitivity settings to choose from, 1 flash is the most sensitive 4 is the least. The ffb although better still isnt right tbh, its playable for me now but im basing that off of racing.

Thanks I will definitely give that a try when I get home!

Update:

I tried the reduced DOR of 540 and it worked a lot better for drifting. I can at least keep control of the car now. Still not much self return steering on recovery but I can deal with that for now. I also tried the increased caster and it did not change any steering feel. The 540 DOR did the most improvement.
