What's the deal with the Ginetta G60?

I started to design a livery for the Ginetta G60 when I encountered an unpaintable black plate on its sides. Now, I’m sure we’re accustomed to the bizarre decisions Turn 10 makes about what should be paintable (e.g. how you can’t paint the spoiler on any modern prototype racer, despite all of them having graphics there IRL); however, when I looked through the 200-odd available in-game designs for this car I found:

  • Roughly 40% of the designs have complex vinyls running through this space (although oddly, no one I saw used the space for a number plate)
  • Roughly 80% of the designs were at least able to change that square to a different color

Here are some examples:

ginetta_02
ginetta_03

Is there a secret method to styling that space? I tried every trick I could think of on Xbox (selecting different colors from the buy screen, applying all kinds of different colors and finishing types in the painter, applying football-field-sized vinyl shapes on every surface in the editor, etc.) and nothing affected it.

Do any of those tricks work on PC? Was this patched in mistakenly mid-November/later? Is this a model that’s paintable for import from a previous Motorsport?

Not having that area to work with would throw my entire planned design off.

If the method of putting a huge square of color on each side does not work, it is unfortunately impossible to paint. Next time I fire up Forza, I’ll give it a test.
