What's running in the background (at least on PC)?

Since a couple if days I’ll get a pop-up Windows firewall message each time I’m starting the game that looks like this.

Interesting is that the path this “forzahorizon5.exe” is running at/on is randomly changing (I’ve had it run on multiple partitions by now) and that it always seems to have a different folder number.

My suspicion is that this is some kind of detection (tool) running in the background. Which I’ve no issues with. If it actually is what I expect it to be then I even applaud the implementation.

But there are two problems:

A) It shouldn’t be so unbelievable obvious for everybody who has set his security settings a little higher.

B) The same should also be done for the consoles because against the general knowledge cheating is also possible on an Xbox. …badummtsss

Any general infos or opinions on this? Also asking @T10ManteoMax.

With the last update PGG silently implemented a cheat protection. It blacklists certain executables and monitors that certain game files are not manipulated by third-party software. If it detects a cheat, FH5 will crash. Yes, a crash is their solution, not a message to support or a direct ban…

I just hope that this ant-cheat is not overly sensitive and is actually causing all the crashes reported on this forum and also experienced by me at the moment…

Where do you got that info from if I may ask?

If what you say is true then it’s a rather lame attempt. Better than nothing but still not what is needed to get rid of the problem(s).

I first learned about the anti-cheat from Fishie on the thread below more than 2 weeks ago. I then went and did some research on sites of the “enemy”, which I will not reveal here. The details I wrote above are from those sites. At least some popular cheat engines are definitely affected and workarounds are not found yet.

I play the Eliminator every night for 1-2h and did not encounter any cheater since the last update. Fishie encountered only one so far. Thus, there might still be working cheats out there, but the bulk of it seems to be put out of action for now…

Thanks for the clarification.

I unfortunately encountered one (reported) just today and at least a couple of them during the last few days. So, if they’ve something that’s crashing the game in case something fishy is running in the background then it doesn’t seems to effect all the “tools” available to these bunglers.

That’s sad news! At least PGG did a first step in the right direction - after almost a year of unchecked cheating. Maybe the remaining “tools” just fell through the cracks and it’s just a matter of putting them on the blacklist… Too optimistic, I know…

It could be that they’re only looking at PC players for what ever reason. Which is wrong as from all I can see the guy in question today is playing on Xbox.

It’s how it works since beginning… You downloaded the whole xbox image and it runs from there

Is in the “WindowsApps\MSIXVC” folder on your pc… the virtual disc gets mounted then and so on…

No, it’s not and nothing Forza related should or has to be executed (run) on any of the partitions it does. These are partitions completely unrelated to Windows, Forza, documents, My Files or what ever.

? It’s an virtual drive…

Same on xbox its an container running virtual machine… thats how quick resume works

Look here at the paths and the date… it was always like that

No that’s not what this is.
