What's everyone up to these days

Long time no see everyone.

Either everyone is really busy these days or the forums are really dead either way I don’t see it getting better for forza 7.

sure, it’ll get better when 7 comes out- a new game always perks stuff up.

personally, I have a few cars I’m supposed to get done, but burnt out because I had trouble doing some stripes and just took a break. Plus, it’s summer…

Been like this for years. Store front makes it so there’s no need to interact in order to get what you want. You might get 2 or 3 comments if your lucky but you’ll get a ton of downloads… (ask me how I know! Lmao)

I think busy is the word to say.

Seems I spend a lot of time in the paintbooth still but never seem to finish much before going on something else. Not sure if I’ve exhausted myself with painting haha, after playing FM7 at Goodwood it’s put some more fuel in me to be excited about which is good.

Though while I put a tonne of time into forums in FH2/FM6 i’m finding it a bit of a task to stay constantly updated here on the forum though I do usually browse through

Social Media has killed the site.

No one is here as no garages exist due to the fact everything is readily available don’t need to ‘talk’ anymore.

Keep it alive by posting, its the only way (or start some drama… oh the old days haha!!)

Correct.

The forum’s also falling behind in terms of useful features, like username tagging, video embedding and notifications. One of the reasons I’m more active on GTPlanet is because of those tools.

As for me I’m pretty much done with Forza Horizon 3 and am playing other games at the moment. I may do 1 or 2 more designs over the next few months but right now my main reason to come to the forums is to check for Forza Motorsport 7 news.

Having only started doing liveries (and this forum) in January, I’m not familiar with how these forums used to be. I did notice that there wasn’t all that much feedback on many threads, although enough encouraging words to feel there was life out there! Ultimately, as I started doing some requests (as mine are mostly replicas), that generated some conversation, and I try to give at least some background description, both in competition entries and my own thread.

There doesn’t seem to be great deal of conversation between painters, although there are very useful descriptions of techniques by yourself and others.

One thing I found out is the addictiveness of painting - I had about 76 hours of playing most of the way through FH3, but have run up another 500 hours since mostly painting with a bit of play to get cars on Forzathons. I’m also now on my second box of 50 transparency sheets

I’m on a bit of a sabbatical at present due to busyness in RL, and getting Dirt4. Plus running a few WIP in parallel.

Been working on some new livery designs recently, expand my library before FM7 arrives. one of the things I found moving from FM6 to FH3 was that my own work was limited, I only had one or two different designs back then and it meant most of my garage was covered in the same thing. Got around 18 different designs now and will probably build a few more before FM7 arrives.

Only really race when the official streams are on or a Forzathon is active, too many crashers these days otherwise.

Hello everyone. Glad to see some one post just curious what some thought I think everyone is right to be honest. I got burnt out months ago. But I believe AB is right in a big way social media I think destroyed this site big time. As jfiller said storefront kills it to even the way it’s set up kills it to. Dunno may be they’ll fix it one day probably not LOL.

The ONLY way we the community can fix it is to use it and support each other. It wont ever be thriving unless we see some of the community tools came back to support the likes of garages and teams to operate. It would be great to have the buzz back on the site again but it could just be too late, lets see what happens with FM7 hey!

Ever thought that maybe we’re in the wrong section? Back in the glory days it was the Tuning Market place that kept things popping. Competitions, rivals, fights, collaborations…

Indeed sir!
But T10 removed the way the garages functioned…
It may it impossible to run however people tried.

That ^ and way back when most the garage rivalry game was so strong many got banned from the forums lmao!

The lack of content gifting has hurt the painting community in my opinion as we can’t collaborate anymore.

Tuners are effected too of course but it’s much easier to write down some tuning numbers and pass them on.

Agreed but tuners are alway in competition to see who’s car is faster. Painters aren’t. That competition is what drove everything. who had the fastest car on a certain track or who had the best online lobby car. It was almost like a real like super lap battle. If you made the fastest evo on Suzuka then we would all try to make something similar to beat that time. With paint is nice t really the same thing. If you paint a popular race car then I’m not going to go out and repaint it just to see if I can do it better if you know what I mean.

Back in the day the only way to get a paint/tune was using the auction house. This forced people to interact with each other if they wanted a copy of it. The store front is more efficient but now there’s no need to interact

I’ve been really busy with a new job which doesn’t give me any time behind the computer… i have not played any games for a while… ( a little fh3 but thats it…) i might have a big project coming up soonish… so i might be back in the booth  Not to excited for fm7… as it’s circuit racing and i have not gotten far in both fm5 and fm6…

It’s not just here. Social media has killed almost every forum out there. Only the true diehards and the handful of stray newbies who really want to get the most out of an activity frequently visit dedicated forums anymore. I’m in the same boat as SEFx in regards to FM7… the circuit racing just doesn’t appeal to me enough. Sure, I might pick it up later when it goes on sale so that I can keep my Forza score up but you probably won’t see me buying it on day one or pre-ordering it for that matter. I have a number of projects in limbo that I need to wrap up. Hopefully the community keeps going strong over the next year and a half until FH4 because it might take me that long to finish them. LOL

Always good to hear what you guys have to say. Honestly like SEFX I’ve been alittle busy myself with work and starting a new chapter in my life. Haven’t had much time to play because the girlfriend comes first always but hopefully some day I may return. Not looking to forward to FM7 as like others it’s circut racing I haven’t done in so long I may be to rusty for it. But we’ll see what the future holds for me and my dying club. Might go back to being just me and by myself as i don’t get much support from club members I’m usually a 1 man army.

Very true I used to host some photo and design comps and on the rare occasion some time attacks. Those where the good old days

I pop in for a browse most days - just dont always have enough time to comment etc. Got to say i find keeping thread updated quite time consuming and struggle as life gets busier & busier. i think its
more important to spend what free time i do get, painting!
