What the hell is happening to my account?

They probably patched your workaround. It probably bypassed one of their security features. Of course, they could have spent the effort fixing the security feature so it didn’t prevent paying customers from playing their game, but that would be inconsistent with corporate priorities.

My game has worked properly now for a couple of days, even checking for updates didn’t re-install Gaming Services.

I think I had an issue with my system - I tried to install the new Cross Device experience host but was getting an error that the install drive isn’t set as the system drive. Weird as it’s always been C: (same error code as shown in my post above). Which made me curious…

I changed the location to D: and then back to C: - the Cross device installed, and gaming services updated through the store, and the game played fine. So I guess it was trying to install Gaming services and failing.

Thanks. I got around to trying it again today, and it loaded up fine. I did NOTHING. They must have fixed whatever they broke on the backend.

Yes it must have been a server-side issue as many users were affected.

Now it look like fixed but it take me eons to login in the game. Well I guess it’s better than can’t play at all.

If you are playing on a console, restart it. It should fix the problem. I don’t know how to fix the problem on PC but I know console.

In Windows task manager search for GamingServices and select “Restart”.

How do I fix this on Xbox? I’ve just got the message this morning and last night I was playing fine

Restarting the Xbox should do the trick.
